Lyonsite had a man pinned to the brick wall of the alley with her forearm while she drained him. He struggled, of course, but her hulking frame combined with enhanced magical strength really made his struggles less than effective. Unlike her usual companion on patrols, she did not take joy out of draining people dry. Just enough for that energy to be put to better use.

The woman paused, though, attention jerking away from the growing energy orb in her hand when she felt an Order signature ping on her radar. Lyonsite stiffened for a moment when she got a better read on it. It was stronger than her current level---and it was heading straight her way.

Oh boy.

Emrys had been patrolling more and more alone these days; not out of a desire to avoid his husband, because that was basically the last thing he would ever want - but out of a desire to make sure he was safe - and also to help mitigate some of the fact that it always seemed to be Hitch that was getting hurt, and always Hitch that was the one protecting him, never the other way around.

Well, no more. He was not going to let Hitch do this alone.

He felt the first flutter of a power signature blossoming onto his radar as he turned a corner, and someone tall - someone enormous was standing in one of the darkened alleyways in front of him, aura notably Chaos. She was clutching something glowing in one of her hands.

Emrys stopped abruptly, his face setting.

"Oi," he said, and swallowed hard against the instinctive rise of anxiety. "What are you doing? Put that back."

It was there and then---it was right on her.

Lyonsite let the man she had pinned slump to the ground against the brick wall. Not dead---just very drained. "Oh, you know, ginger friend~" She grinned at the Squire as she turned towards him. "Taking a stroll, running errands. Getting things done." Knights of that level had their magic, in addition to being stronger...but she wasn't deterred. The woman gestured to the energy orb she had collected. "I also won't, you know? I got this fair and square." She then sent it off to Metalia, before the Squire had half a mind to try and grab it. That'd be a waste.

She cracked her neck, tossing her head to one side, and then the other. This was followed by rolling her shoulders, and finally by the raise of her fists.

"Let's do this."

Emrys' eyes flickered towards the man as he collapsed to the ground, feeling a sense of dread well in the pit of his stomach. He hated this; hated that they could do this in the first place, that they could simply take and take and take what they wanted with no remorse and no hesitation.

And he had done things too. Even if he couldn't remember what they were, he knew he had, back when he'd been Cerussite. Eurydike's consistent pain when it came to remembering how things had once been was proof enough of that.

"Hey - "

He made a lunge for the glowing orb, but too late. It was gone, and Emrys stumbled on his feet, his bad leg throbbing, frustration rising in his throat. He straightened his spine, clutching the staff, and reminded himself of what Eurydike would have done - of what Celsus would have done.

I'm not afraid. I'm not afraid.

I can do this.

Then he swung at her, the staff like a baseball bat, aiming at her side.

It'd been the right call to send that energy orb away. She wasn't one to throw aware hard work and effort to careless mistakes. The lieutenant didn't move as the Squire stumbled closer to her, and when he took the initiative to swing his staff at her, it landed with a solid thud. Lyonsite grunted as it struck, a sharp pain shooting up her side. That power difference was good. It made her even more eager to be a Captain.

"Not bad---" She replied, reaching to grab his staff and yank on it, looking to pull him closer. With her free hand, she pulled a fist back and aimed to slug him.

To his utter shock, his attack hit square on. The woman was taller than he was by probably at least a foot, and she was much more muscular than he was, but at the very least, he had a weapon that worked well for someone like him. Emrys felt the impact shiver all the way up his arms, and he stumbled backwards, teeth gritted, his eyes narrowed; it helped, for once, to be a Squire, rather than a Page; he had the advantage on her.

But then a hand had closed around the staff and yanked him forward, and Emrys let out a yelp of surprise, staggering. He tried to pull free, but at the last second, saw her first swing towards him from out of the corner of his eye.

Adrenaline rushing through his veins gave him the ability to try and lunge out of the way, but he didn't quite make it all the way. Her knuckles grazed against his cheekbone, and for a woman of her size and strength, it had about as much impact as if it had hit full on. Pain exploded along the side of Emrys' face as he stumbled, gasping, a gloved hand flying up to instinctively touch his cheek.

No. He couldn't back down. Not now.

Emrys wrenched his staff free and swung it quickly.

"SYNCHRONIC CRESCENDO," he yelled.

Lucyal
Synchronic Crescendo - Emrys holds his staff horizontally and makes a sweeping gesture in midair, several times. Each sweep causes music to emanate softly from it, which causes the opponent to feel as though they are slogging through water, their bodies tired and heavy, and every movement is sluggish and slowed. This effect lasts about fifty seconds to one minute.

This Squire had quick reflexes, and she respected that. Sadly, it just wasn't satisfying to only graze him though, even if the hit still shook him. He managed to wrench the staff free, and Lyonsite lurched into motion to charge him again. She didn't stop moving even as he swung his staff, and followed it with a yell. She was still in motion even as the spell hit her, except---

She was moving slow.

So painfully slow.

It actually made her think back to her childhood, where she did silly things like try to pretend like she could run underwater at the bottom of the pool.

Her limbs felt heavy, like she had exhausted herself to the brink of collapse after an intense workout at the gym.

Her lips couldn't help but stretch into a grin, even as she reached out to try and grab him.

"Not. Bad."

His face was throbbing. Emrys was not the sort of person who dealt well with being hit and bruised easily, his pale, freckled skin showing everything. He could almost see the bruise that was going to be forming from her blow, and wondered if there was any way he could make Eurydike not go crazy after seeing it.

Probably not. Emrys gritted his teeth, watching the magic taking hold of the lieutenant's limbs, and he swung sideways out of her way as she aimed a grab at him, the song keeping her from moving fast. It was easily dodged this time, but next time he wouldn't be so lucky.

"Luck has nothing to do with it," he said, and swung his staff at one of her shins with as much force as he could.

Man, this was a pain. She wouldn't wait until she hit Captain! She was so looking forward to her own strength and speed boost. On top of teleporting. On top of a better weapon. On top of getting a personal youma.

Instead, for now, she had to settled with feeling like she was play acting at the bottom of a swimming pool.

The Squire dodged her with ease, and even as she started to turn her trajectory towards him, she knew she was in for it. The blow coming from the Squire swept her off her feet, a sharp pain shooting up through her leg even with the lace up combat boots. A hissed escaped her between clenched teeth before it was followed by a grunt as she hit the cement.

The plus side? She was starting to feel that magic fading.

The down side? It wasn't quick enough. Regardless, from her position on the ground, the Lieutenant tried to reach out and grab a hold of the Squire's boots or ankles to pull him down as well.

He'd managed to give her a good hit, which felt satisfying, in spite of everything. Emrys had never been a fighter and had never been built as a fighter; as a child, he'd been sickly and weak, never able to maintain the same sort of energy that Fritz always had. And then he'd had his accident, and he'd thought everything was lost, but it wasn't.

He just needed to find that feeling again.

Emrys managed to get a single step in before there was a hand on his ankle - his bad leg, of all things. He gave a yell of pain, crashing to the ground, sparks flying in his vision as his elbow cracked against the pavement. For a few seconds, Emrys was breathless with the agony of it ricocheting up and down his leg, reverberating all throughout his body, and he gritted his teeth, fighting back a sob.

At the same moment, he kicked out as hard as he possibly good at the lieutenant's stomach with his good leg.

Tanned fingers held tight onto the Squire's ankle, especially as he fell to the ground. "Looks like someone skipped leg day." Lyonsite jeered, as her hand more firmly grasped this hold she had on him.

The lieutenant let out a grunt as his booted heel landed a solid hit right in her gut, and for a moment the air whooshed out of her lungs. The disciplined and routine training regimen gave her an edge though. Allowed her to take more hits than most, and more importantly, to move on from them.

She kept a hold of his bad leg and rolled into a crouch. This shifted to a stand, all the while using the momentum of her movement to pull the Squire along. To swing him around by his ankle and then throw him. She had not set goal or aim. She just sent him flying.

And so, he went flying.

She had grabbed his bad leg, which was already protesting the vigorous movements, but the added pressure and the unexpected swing made it scream in pain as the muscles were pulled. Emrys found himself airborne for about ten feet, and then he crashed into the ground, collapsing in a heap on the grass with a gasp. His jaw had snapped together, and he tasted blood; he'd bitten his tongue in the process.

Emrys rolled over, heaving, and flung his arm out, the staff pointing in the lieutenant's direction.

"SYNCHRONIC CRESCENDO!" Emrys yelled, half out of desperation, half because he needed to immobilize her if he had a hope of getting out of here.

It was a bit satisfying to hear the Squire scream. Just a bit. If he wanted to but in, this was the consequence. Hearing him scream though, and drawing a small bit of satisfaction from it made her think of Penikisite. She couldn't grasp how exactly he found it thrilling to harm civilians---wasn't it better when they were senshi and knights? Actual enemies? It was actually a challenge---but even then, it was more of a thrill for her, not...euphoria.

Lyonsite was back on her feet as she mulled over these thoughts, lumbering towards the Squire. She probably only had the edge on him because he wasn't battle savvy. Because he had a bad leg---but he did have that magic.

The lieutenant grunted as she was struck, her lumbering slowed to a snail's pace. She stopped this time, since what was the point of putting herself in his range while she was moving slow?
