Location: Shopping District of Downtown Witzend, England
Debriefing: There have been reports of senshi sightings in downtown Witzend. At first, it's only one or two reports but as the numbers increase, the activity calls for action.
This is a recon mission, your job is to blend in and collect information on potential senshi threats.
Requirements: 2-4 Agents, must be in civilian guises for stealth.
There are no rank restrictions for this mission.
♠️STEP ONE: You arrive downtown.
It's the middle of the day, with the streets packed with civilians. Shops line the streets and various carts are stationed along sidewalks. There is no vehicle traffic, everyone is on foot and the streets are too narrow for cars.
People chatter at you in various languages, but once they recognize that you're foreigners, they switch to English.
Your instructions are to observe, to see if you can spot the rumored senshi, or, failing that, to gather information regarding the rogue senshi group.
Quote:
All players roll 1d6.
1 - You survey the cart vendors, gazing over their wares while trying to listen in on conversations. Quote Nuxaz for overheard hushed conversation.
2 - You run into someone, knocking whatever they're holding out of their hand. They're angry and cause a scene. People around you become suspicious and wary of you. You find that no matter what you do, someone is always watching and there's a concerning amount of attention your way. (You may only roll 1d4 in the next step due to the increased suspicion and distrust thrown your way.)
3 - You decide to grab an outdoor seat at one of the cafe's that lines the street. It gives you a prime view of the area and you use this to your advantage to familiarize yourself with the area better. (Once, you may roll 2d100 when teleporting after entering step 4 and take the number that provides a more positive action.)
4 - You come across a flyer on a nearby community bulletin board. There's an image attached that seems to match the description of the purported senshi. Lucky you! You pull the flyer down and tuck it into a pocket. (Please generate numbers 3-6 for the next step as you have a better visual for the target you're seeking!)
5 - Stopping at a news stand, you pick up a paper to browse because the headline appears to relate to the sudden attacks within the city. You're unable to read the whole article but one blurb stands out and you file it away for later before something distracts you. Quote Nuxaz for a snippet.
6 - You find yourself a nice wall to casually lean against and 'browse' your phone. People pass by you and pay little to no notice. You blend right in.
♠️STEP TWO:
So far things have been quiet but everyone is doing their due diligence when it comes to this recon mission. Everyone moves from their current position to continue trying to gather information.
Each player rolls 1d6.
Quote:
1 - You enter a nearby cafe because you think that you've spotted someone that fits the description you're watching for. Unfortunately, you find yourself shoved forward until the door is out of reach. To your dismay, you are now stuck in the cafe! (Please skip the next step and wait for further instruction.)
2 - Someone notices that you're eavesdropping and turns on you. It's pretty clear that you're about to get an earful and people are starting to stare. Quote Nuxaz for civilian interaction.
3 - You're tailing someone, but a crowd of people suddenly emerge from one of the nearby shops and knock into you. You lose sight of the person you're following and you struggle to get past the crowd.
4 - Choosing to move from your current location, you walk down the street and pass by someone who almost matches the description. Reacting, you grab their wrist. Quote Nuxaz for interaction.
5 - You happen upon someone who appears chatty. You start to casually ask them questions about the city and the strange happenings going on in the city. Quote Nuxaz for civilian interaction.
6 - If you didn't know any better, you'd say that you spotted a white cat with a star on it's forehead. Considering there are not white mauvians on this mission with you, your suspicion has been spiked. You travel to the alley it disappeared down and spot someone with a familiar looking bow on their backside before they turn the corner and disappear from sight. (If you rolled a 6, please be the one who rolls for the next stage.)
♠️STEP THREE:
It's time to regroup. As you communicate with each other (by text or tablet communications) and come back together...
One player rolls 1d4. (If someone rolled a 6 in the previous step, they must be the one to roll. If multiple people did, please quote Nuxaz first. Otherwise, anyone may be the individual who rolls.)
Quote:
1 - You and your team spot someone who matches the descriptions to a T. One of you takes off after them and the others divert down other paths in hopes of cornering them.
2 - Someone crosses your path that gives you a vibe. One of you tails them and upon closer inspection, you note that they look remarkably similar to the description you've been looking for. You call for the rest of the team to help you corner them.
3 - Despite your venture downtown, the team falls short. Outside of false spotting and potential information you've eavesdropped on the mission is a failed one. Skip step four and have one character submit a mission report. While the mission wasn't a success, it's completed.
4 - You have an encounter with one of the senshi. Please quote Nuxaz for further instruction and disregard the rest of the mission prompts.
It looks like the senshi has been spotted! It's a mad dash to scramble and catch them. You and your team are in a frenzy trying to zip through the throngs of people filling the streets doing their shopping. If you don't keep them in their sights, you'll lose them. Better think fast!
If you have rolled a 1 or a 2 you may now power up with caution if you chose. Use discretion as any of the civilians could be a senshi in disguise!
Please keep in mind that your agent is likely unfamiliar with the territory! Teleporting is acceptable but proceed with caution! (See step four)
♠️STEP FOUR:
IF YOU ROLLED A (BLANK) IN STEP THREE:
If you rolled 1:
You and your team are on the chase, each player r1d20. You must get a 20 to catch the senshi. You have 3 chances per player to catch them. If you roll a 20, quote Nuxaz. If you roll a 15, you are ambushed, quote Nuxaz. Otherwise this mission is a failure. Please submit a mission report on your findings. You may try again once the report is submitted.
If you rolled 2:
Each player r1d4. Evens mean that you have successful found the senshi you're looking for. Proceed to roll 1d20. You must get a 20 to catch the senshi. If you roll a 15, you are ambushed, quote Nuxaz. Odds mean that the person you're tailing is not the senshi you are looking for. The mission is a failure. Please submit a mission report on your findings. You may try again once the report is submitted.
If you rolled 3:
You have failed your mission. Please submit a report on your findings. You may try again once the report is submitted.
If you rolled 4:
Skip this step and quote Nuxaz for a special interaction.
Any time you teleport 1d100. You may only teleport up to 2 times a Captain/Super and 4 times as General/Eternal. If you attempt to teleport with anyone else, you are only able to teleport once at Captain/Super and twice at General/Eternal!
Quote:
1- 20 You teleport several paces behind your target. They're too far ahead of you. Something obstructs your ability to lunge forward and you must attempt to run around it and catch up. 21 - 40 You unfamiliarity with your surroundings mean you misjudge when you teleport and end up on the wrong rooftop/alleyway. Disoriented you struggle to re-locate either your team or the target. (You only have 1 chance to catch the senshi after you roll this.) 41 - 60 Luckily you teleport almost directly behind them, they're almost in reach! Unfortunately you trip over something before you can grab them and they slip out of your grasp once again. 61 - 80 Teleporting takes you into another area instead of your intended location and you see no one around you at first. When you turn around you can spot the tell-tale signs of a chase and you are able to jump right back in. 81 - 90 You teleport directly into the path of one of your teammates! They crash into you! Both of you go down. (Quote the person above you for this interaction! Both players lose 1 catch opportunity.) 91 - 100 You teleport right in front of the senshi, obstructing their path! Follow up with a 1d4, evens mean you successfully corner them. Odds mean that they find some way to get around you! Quote Nuxaz for interaction!
OOC
At the conclusion of the mission, please have 1 character fill out a mission report. You may simply fill out the form in the mission hub or write a solo/reg for it. If you hit 0 HP at any point, Quote Nuxaz for a special interaction! Successful completion of the mission earns you A Small Looking Glass (This may only be used once and adds +/- 3 to a social interaction to take the positive interaction) May be obtained twice. Effects do not stack.

They'd only just gotten there and already they were being sent out on missions. Which, to be fair, wasn't unexpected, but that didn't mean Topher had to be happy about it. He'd really been hoping that this whole abroad thing would be more like a vacation with work on the side, not the other way around.
But at least this particular mission involved getting out and seeing the city, the shopping district. Maybe he and the others could get lunch while they were out here looking for senshi, hit a few shops, something. How many senshi could there possibly be running around this place that they'd need multiple teams of agents playing recon?
He waited for the rest of his little group near a old looking fountain. As always, the man looked well kept and put together. Dark hair had been styled back, the shirt her wore rolled up over his elbows was crisp and wrinkle free, and the dark jeans that hugged his legs were only artfully worn. He was still very much awake and alert with zero signs of jet lag, but he seemed a little less chipper today.
Thankfully, the air sickness had run its course, and by the time of the mission, Sheldon might as well have been whistling and clicking his heels as he went down the road for as great as he felt. If he was the whistling or heel clicking type, which he most definitely was not, so he settled for walking like a person and not looking especially miserable as he went.
Not that anyone would've known the difference, honestly. It was a sunny day, and Sheldon, being the delightful ghost of a man that he was, had come prepared. He had sunglasses perched at the edge of his nose, a dark gray and black ruana wrapped around him, and a delightfully wide-brimmed black hat set atop his ever-unruly hair, and yes, he'd applied sunblock for good measure. Never could be too careful, and he wasn't in the mood to go red after he'd just been green. No thank you.
He also had a surprisingly big iced coffee with him, which might've also said something for his relatively good mood - until he found Topher and groaned. "The ********. How long you been here? I left early, too! Did you sleep out here? What?"
If 'business lolita' were coined together, Iliel managed it. Her dress was ever fitted yet conservative, composed of grey toned plaids with pinstripe highlights in cream, fitted with pink buttons and accented with a pink lace fascinator that filtered the sun from her eyes. Pinks and roses haloed her eyes around thin, contemptibly impeccable liquid liner. Almost an afterthought, frocked tights absent distinguishing features tucked into ankle-high heeled boots with lacquered sole and vegan fur adornments. Evening gloves beneath a knitted cream bolero chased away some of the early March cold.
It was in exactly this outfit that Iliel arrived, fully convinced that an investigation could be conducted while so dressed. Standing out too much would do them poorly, hence she kept to a simple creamy white lipstick instead of a lascivious red, but looking well-manicured invited high opinions and new leads. The others would thank her for such thorough planning by the end of the day.
As she looked coyly about over rectangular sunglasses, she spotted her coworkers with a measure of pouty disdain. One with iced coffee — in England of all places — and the other with the same peculiar dopeyness that fingered him for an American wherever they went. Iliel allowed herself a light huff around the constraints of her corset. She looked for Kenzie next, rolling her eyes at the boys when she hadn't yet spotted their missing member. Then, before joining their obvious duo, she paused by a wire newspaper stand to file idly through its cover stories. A mission was a mission, after all, and it wouldn't do to skip out on free and easy reconnaissance simply because they were outdoors.
Home Decor Firm Suspected for Embezzlement, one headline read. Not much of a lead. But a skim might yield something promising, something telling —

The headline reads: Unusual Sightings and contains a words like new developments, squatters, tents. There's a picture too, but you can't make out too much before someone steps into your space and knocks the paper from your hands.
They pick it up before you can and seem reluctant to return it to you.

If nothing else, at least the weather seemed to be on their side. The bright sun, blue skies and crisp air were welcome.
Mackenzie strolled casually through the streets of the shopping district in downtown Witzend. While she knew she was on a mission and they definitely had a meeting time, she had left the hotel early enough that she could take her time as she made her way to their chosen meeting point. Plus, she figured the more time she spent out and about with the locals, the more luck she'd have in finding any information about the Senshi sightings in the city.
Their instructions were simple - observe, and found out as much as they possibly can. As civilians, that meant their mission was relatively low key, which wasn't a terrible way to start their time here overseas. It also meant that she could comfortably wear whatever she wanted, which included ripped jeans, a random band t-shirt (the first shirt she pulled out of her suitcase, to be honest) and a leather jacket accompanied by leather ankle boots. Simple, comfortable, hopefully nothing screamed hey check out the sketchy American! She checked her watch quickly to make sure that she wasn't going to be late to meet with the others, and as she glanced back up to gather her surroundings and head in the right direction, hot pink eyes narrowed upon a nearby bulletin board. She glanced back and forth under her aviator sunglasses, trying to avoid as much attention as possible and when she was sure that no one was paying her any mind, she went to the board to get a closer look.
Was that... A Senshi? Mackenzie quickly grabbed the image and tucked it into a pocket of her leather jacket. Pushing both hands into her pockets, she quickly moved to meet her group at the fountain. "Boys," she said in acknowledgement of Topher and Sheldon, before smiling at Iliel. "Illy, you look gorgeous as always."
It probably came off a little crass, even though she was being genuine. She adored the other girl, but when she was around she didn't get the ... attention that she wanted from someone else. And unfortunately, Mackenzie wasn't accustomed to being shot down or not getting what she wanted. Maybe if this mission went well for her.... Her mind trailed off as she glanced in Topher's direction.
Do. Not. Get. Distracted. She had to remind herself over and over again. Damnit, why did he have to be here?
Shaking her head of any thoughts of him, she huffed and redirected the conversation. "Anyone see anything of interest yet?" Right down to business.

Sheldon's groan really only improved the tall man's mood. He was competitive, they all were, and even these little victories over the others felt good. Chuckling, he through an arm around Shelly's shoulders and leaned down to steal a drink of his iced coffee before he had the chance to protest or shove him away, thankful for the endless amount of patience he seemed to have for his friend. Of them all, it was Sheldon that seemed to tolerate him the most consistent amount.
The shorter man was a saint.
"Don't feel too bad, Shelly. We can't all be morning people." In truth he'd only been there a couple of minutes before the other man, but he wasn't going to tell him that. Let him assume it'd been longer.
He glanced up when he saw a pretty girl approaching and blue eyes lingered on her, watching with appreciation as she glanced their way before looking down at the front page of papers displayed at the stand near them without greeting them. b***h But she was a hot one.
Mackenzie was the last to arrive, and Topher straightened up and drew his arm back from where it'd just been resting on Sheldon's shoulders. "Hey," he said warmly as she came over to stand with them. "Morning Sunshine. No, nothing yet. Have you?"
But the question had prompted him to look up, not really expecting to see much, but something on a public tack board across the courtyard from where they stood caught his attention. "Wait, hold on a minute." He touched her arm as he passed her, contemplated doing the same to Illy just to piss her off, and went to tug the flyer off the board. He was looking down at it as he wandered back. "Scratch that, isn't this who we're looking for?"

Topher was this way; Sheldon just accepted the arm around his shoulders, same as always, the same attitude that either saved or damned him when it came to Priscilla. But that did not mean he didn't roll his eyes beneath his sunglasses, sighing in an exasperated way before holding up his free hand, mimicking a second mouth.
"We can't all be morning people, meh meh meh, " he droned in a high pitched voice, scrunching up his face. Then he dropped the hand, and dropped the voice, adding normally, "If swear to ******** I'd better not be guzzling your backlash with this, " before taking a long swig on his iced coffee to kill it off.
Then Iliel showed up, and when he realized she was going out of her way to make faces and ignore him, he waved his hand in the air. "Iliel. Iliel. We're over here. Iliel. Iliel. How on long did you iron that outfit for, darling? - how many dramatic wardrobe changes have you got?"
He would've kept that right up, even after his cousin got there (although he did acknowledge her with a nod), except a piece of paper came flying up and smacked him dead in the face. Sheldon gave a small shout, flailed a bit (and hit Topher with his mostly empty iced coffee), and finally pried the thing off his face.
A flyer. Oh, hey.
"Hrmph. I got something too, I suppose. - these guys aren't much for subtly, are they? Sticking flyers all over and all."

She was doing quite fine at ignoring each of them (especially Sheldon; Iliel was so like a cat in that she thrived off of people wearying themselves over getting her attention). While Kenzie showed up, while Sheldon hollered for her, while Topher said nothing at all, she reached for the newspaper headline she glimpsed before an elbow crushed it out of the way. The offending sir melted into a burgeoning crowd after hip checking her, and the agent in disguise stumbled so drastically that she fell.
And she made a show of it, too. An offended gasp, a chastising remark hot on her lips. "That man knocked me down!" She pointed, then, to where he'd last disappeared, but few took notice. Witzend, it seemed, was more focused on minding its business.
Huffing, Iliel dusted herself off. A quick once-over found one (1) run in her right tight, just to the right of her knee, open and gaping enough that it dragged all attention to this glaring imperfection. And as she rejoined her group, who each stared at the same flyer with the same annoyingly gawked expression, she shot Sheldon a particularly scathing glare. "Not. One. Word." Topher received even worse — complete denial that he existed.
She slipped behind the boys to stand near the most endearingly tolerable of the three, where Illy then rooted about in her shoulder bag. In it was a pair of markedly less warm tights, these ones adorned with knit lace roses, done in lavender ice to provide pops of color. They looked far more ostentatious than the understated ones she wore now (which were, sadly, out of the question). She dropped her shoulder bag with care. After slipping out of her shoes and setting them inside, Iliel slid her current tights off to substitute for the other pair.
She shivered as the cold invited itself against her skin. "Found something, did you? What have we got, and how can we be certain it isn't bait?"

Mackenzie couldn't help but grin at Sheldon's attempt to embarrass Iliel - there was always something about her cousin that brought out the lighter side of her. She pulled the flier out of her pocket and showed it to the group as well.
"I found the same thing. Considering their lack of survival skills out here... I'm surprised these Senshi have been so easy to photograph," her voice was lowered as she side-eyed people that were walking past the small group. She was about to say something else when she was sure she saw someone in her peripherals.
Without a word, she left Illy to her tights and the boys to their... whatever it is that they do, and she wandered off. Glancing down at the flyer as she moved, her pace quickening, she followed the person. Stuffing the flyer back into her pocket so she didn't lose sight of her target, she tried to follow as closely as possible without looking suspicious - however when a huge crowd began to spill out of one of the stores, her distance was her downfall. She tried to push past them all, grunting and shoving strangers out of her way, she went up on her tiptoes to see if she could visualize her suspect. Alas, they were gone and she muttered an accidentally-too-loud "******** out her phone, she thumbed a quick group text -
Quote:
Sorry guys, I thought I saw something.. Got lost in a crowd. I hate this city already.
Mackenzie put both hands into her jacket pockets, waiting for a text back before she'd decide to regroup. Maybe she'd spot something or someone while loitering solo.

A loud snerk followed Sheldon getting literally smacked in the face with one of the damn flyers they'd all been able to find so far, but his attention wavered as he watched some ******** a*****e knock Illy to the ground. Dark eyes narrowed on the back of the man's head, but he was gone in the blink of an eye, melting back into the crowd as if he hadn't even realized what he'd done, and maybe he hadn't.
He was grumbling to himself as he made a move to offer a hand up to Illy, but she'd already gotten to her feet and Topher found himself being utterly ignored as she stalked over to join them. It left him scowling just slightly, something snappy and bristling resting at the tip of his tongue and held back only by the cage of his teeth, but it fizzled out as Mac strode purposefully into the milling crowds and right out of sight. "Hey, wait! Mac!" Where the ******** was she going?
When he turned back to the group Illy had replaced the tights that had run when she'd fallen and he mentally kicked himself for having been distracted. A little dejectedly he flashed her the flyer. "We can't, but it's the best lead we have." The only lead they had, so far.
He blinked has his phone buzzed in his pocket, reaching back to fish it out. "Mac thought she saw something and got turned around." It'd been sent to the group so they'd all gotten the same message. "She's lost." As he said it he was typing back, asking about landmarks, head lifting to look around them for anything she could use to find her way back.
Except, instead, he caught sight of something himself. Hitting send hastily he crammed the phone into his pocket and hurried off after the figure that'd caught his attention with a "be right back!" tossed over one shoulder.

After all that big show, there was something oddly satisfying about watching Iliel take a glorious fall - "Ah, so you've finally joined us on this trip I see!" - but snark did not take priority over friendship, but rather ran adjacent to it, followed closely by a rather sincere, "Are you okay? Are you hurt at all?" With her close by and changing the offending tights, hopeful that she wouldn't find traces of blood straining them, Sheldon politely averted his eyes and shot anyone who passed too closely a warning glare that said they should do the same.
"It's almost like a challenge or something, huh?" he remarked idly at Mackenzie's remark. "Like maybe they want to be found. I don't know." That said, all of a sudden his cousin was dashing off, and Sheldon kind of sputtered. "Hey, Mac! MAC! You don't just run off, you know, I - she's very gone, " he groaned, and on top of the text confirmation that she was lost, then - "How is your reaction to one of us being lost to run off too?!" he called over Topher, groaning and dragging his hands over his face. "Whatever happened to common sense?" First the senshi, then his cousin, and now this. Maybe the city had a magical penchant for making people careless.
Then he caught sight of someone himself, and stiffened, glancing out at someone who seemingly matched this description to nearly a tee, and - well - goddamnit - "Iliel, if this goes terribly, you get my headphones, " he remarked lowly before bouncing a little and making a beeline for the person at hand.
"Oh, there you are, " he called, trying to cover for himself in case he was wrong as he reached out and grabbed the person's wrist. "I've been looking everywhere!"
Please don't punch me I bruise like a ******** peach.

In a flash Mack was gone, and the boys yelled after her, but Iliel had to arrest herself from doing the same lest she hurt herself in such a corset. Of course, Topher ran after Mack afterward. He probably wanted something special for it, too. Iliel sighed; the girl deserved better. Far better. After she'd straightened herself, Iliel checked her purse for the phone that buzzed with the same message as the rest of them. Using the bump of the first joint of her index finger, Iliel wove together a message back to Mackenzie.
Quote:
I don't know what you see in him, but he's coming for you. xx
That left her and Sheldon to finish exploring about for their mission. "So much for looking around as a group, hmm?" A quick nudge of shoulders assured him that his headphones would be safe with her. Either that, or she and him would rescue this pear-shaped mission. She cocked her head at Sheldon as if to ask which way they should look next. They were the ones with the fliers, really; she hadn't found much of anything before being bumped to the ground. No one seemed to care, either.
She was still sore about that. Sore enough that she didn't first realize when Sheldon took off, and she was left to stammer and dart after him with as much speed as she could afford in those heels. Luckily his quicker reflexes slowed their suspect enough that she could get a better look — and catch up. Stumbling with a breath, she caught the other wrist and held fast.
As much as she wanted those headphones, she'd much rather have a victory. Even at the cost of sharing it with someone else.

It's startling enough to be grabbed by one person, it's even worse to be grabbed by two. The woman first turned her head towards Sheldon, mouth open with a protest and then her head snapped to the otherside when Iliel grabbed her other wrist.
"I don't know either of you. Let go of me," the woman huffs, trying to snatch both hands back.
In the time it takes for her to pull away, both of them are able to get a closer look.
Unfortunately, her facial features aren't right. There's no smattering of freckles and her nose is bent not hooked.
