Welcome

Witzend is a sizable city, comfortable in the sense that given enough time navigation doesn't seem to be too difficult. Skyscrapers reach high into the air and there's a large clock tower that sits in what appears to be the center of the city. Every hour is met with a large chime from the sizable bell that sits above the large clock face and sometimes, it feels like a count down...

New apartment buildings, office buildings, and the like appear to sprout from the ground in various unfinished states across the whole city. A shopping district spans five blocks filled with designer brands, local shops, and over a dozen eateries and next to it, a party district that almost bleeds into a red light district if you know how to look between things.

There's no shortage of things to explore here in Witzend, but be careful not to fall down any rabbit holes and lose yourself...

      • A reminder for those playing a disposable: If you are unable to post within the time constraints I ask, I will take over and you will forfeit your disposable privileges in order to keep the event running in a timely manner and to conclude upon the timeline I have written for it.

Notable Locations

Please note that these may be updated at any time!

The Dormouse Cafe: A 24-hr eatery in the 'party' district, the Dormouse Cafe provides an array of goodies to consume. The outside looks small and unassuming, inside it's large and spacious. It looks like a mix of modern and victorian decorations. While there's a regular menu, there's also a rumored secret menu where if you order from it, you'll receive a mysterious plate that gives instructions. Part of the fun of visiting this establishment is the spontaneity but everyone really knows why the cafe is always full of patrons. It's a hub for trading secrets. If you're looking for information, this is usually the place to go looking. Be careful though, you never know who is telling you what. Rumor has it you better be ready to barter too, because secrets don't come for free~

The Crimson Hotel: Named for its dark red brick exterior, the Crimson Hotel is noted for two things: one, its rich history of being one of the oldest hotels in the city of Witzend and two, for being one of the most luxurious places a person might be fortunate enough to stay at during their visit. While the outside has details hinting towards the true age of the building, the hotel's owner has spared no expense in decorating the building with the most lasciviousness lavender and purple detail. Comfortable seating is available throughout the lobby and bar area, with a marble fountain welcoming every hotelgoer as they enter the double door entrance.

Alice's Tea House: With checkerboard flooring and a sweet, unnameable smell in the air, you know you've stepped into a memorable shop when you find your way through the door of Alice's Team House. Boasting of more tea options than any other shop in Witzend, Alice is proud to serve every customer with their favorite selection (hot, mind you!). You can enjoy the scenic paintings on the walls (all contributed by local painters) that feature various places around the city while sipping on your tea or, if you find yourself bored, you can step into the side room where she offers a lounge room full of comfortable furniture chairs to snuggle in on or take part in a chess match on one of the provided tables and board sets. If you're looking for a place to "pause" life at, you can find reprieve at Alice's Tea House.

Grinning Cat Boutique: An eclectic and unusual little shop around the corner from the Crimson Hotel, the Grinning Cat Boutique is owned by an equally curious host. The contents of the shop range from expected to just plain bizarre - there are jewelry pieces and charms galore, feathered hats with plumes as long as your arm, figurines of peculiar looking rabbits and caterpillars, things both nutty and nice. If you're looking for something strange and unconventional for a friend or loved one, chances are you'd find it at the Grinning Cat Boutique.

Whooka Bar: Trendy and chic, the Whooka Bar is a place for folks to pause by when they want to mellow out and socialize with their friends. Stations are set up throughout the bar with comfortable seating and extra pillows for those who really want to relax. Lights remained semi-dim at all times to add to the ambiance and if you look closely enough, you'll see the owner's love for caterpillars and butterflies dominate the motif of the small building.

gaia_star Madeline's Hat Shop: Once on the far end of Witzend stood a hat shop. It was known for it's colorful owner, Madeline, who was eccentric, lively...some say even a little mad who spent all her time toiling over her well crafted hats. In fact, she was never seen without one and there's several citizens of Witzend that still wear one of her lovingly crafted hats. Unfortunately, there was recently a fire that claimed both Maddy and her hat shop. All that's left is the store front, the glass embossed with Maddy's Hat Shop, police tape, and the charred remains.

Status Effects

Each location comes with it's own set of tailored to status effects and prompts! See below for more information!

At the start of a RP in one of these locations ONE player may R1D4 ONCE for a status effect that carries through the duration of the RP!

        The Dormouse Cafe:
        Quote:

        • 1: You and your companion(s) have ordered the advertised speciality drink. Upon drinking it, everyone begins to sound a little squeaky...as if a mouse is speaking. Even your own voice sounds too high-pitched for what it should be. While annoying, it doesn't seem to detract from your experience.
        • 2: Biscuits are provided, for no charge, on every table and upon eating one, you find that you're suddenly very sleepy. In fact, you feel like you're constantly going to doze off. Strange, you were feeling full of energy just moments ago!
        • 3: The cafe doesn't seem to care much about sticking to health codes. More than once you swear you see a mouse skitter by and at some point, one runs across your table but it seems like no one notices. Soon it's distracting enough that you can't seem to focus on anything but the pitter patter of tiny mouse paws.
        • 4: After eating anything from the Dormouse Cafe, you find yourself irrationally frightened of cats, even the mention of the word draws a terrified squeak from you. (Carries over into your next 2 RPs)

        The Crimson Hotel:
        Quote:

        • 1: When you enter the lobby, the chiming of the large clock above the glass elevator dings. You're pretty sure it's not an hour on the dot, but you can't shake the sound of a ticking clock from you ears. Tick tock. Tick tock. You feel like you're suddenly running out of time!
        • 2: Wherever you go, someone from the hotel staff seems to be asking you if you need help. It doesn't matter what you're doing, where you're at, there's always someone hoping they assist help you.
        • 3: Something about the Crimson Hotel gives you the shivers, as you walk down lavender hallways. Sometimes you see the flash of a man with whiskey eyes and jet black hair giving you a lopsided grin. Whenever you turn to look at him, it turns out to be someone who looks nothing like him. Maybe you believe in ghosts, or maybe you don't, but you almost feel haunted.
        • 4: Something about breakfast sits poorly. For some reason you feel unusually....short. You even have to look up to people you normally wouldn't have to.

        Alice's Tea House:
        Quote:

        • 1: The smell of tea wafting upwards is a delightful aroma. Light and florally, it doesn't seem to need anything but a dollup of honey. However, when you finish the cup, you can't stop talking in a rapid-fire manner. You're quick to go off on tangents or chase trains of thoughts. You can't seem to focus worth a darn!
        • 2: A short, round man toddles over with a tea tray. It doesn't matter if you've ordered anything or not yet, he insists that you simply must partake. Upon drinking the tea, you find that you have the urge to fight someone. You can't shake it. (Carries over into your next RP)
        • 3: Something about the chinking of your spoon against the china of your tea cup is almost mesmerizing. You feel like you're trapped in the same moment and like you're having the exact same conversations on repeat. It's a bad sense of deja vu.
        • 4: Anyone you talk to, including the person you've come with, gives you conflicting statements or information once you enter the teahouse.

        Grinning Cat Boutique:
        Quote:

        • 1: Anytime you look for someone, you make eye contact and then, when they grin they appear to disappear. It doesn't matter if you need help or not, every time you get close enough the other person disappears. It even seems to affect the companions you entered with. Once you exit this effect ends.
        • 2: You feel like you might be hallucinating. Once you enter the boutique you get the strange sense that nothing is as it seems, heck, nothing even seems real. You keep feeling like you're lost and no matter which way you turn or go, you seem to go in circles.
        • 3: You feel like you're being watched but whenever you turn around there's no one behind you. Sometimes out of the corner of your eye you think you see the wide impression of a grin and the shadow of a cat. But when you blink, there's nothing there.
        • 4: Trying anything on, it's a boutique after all there has to be something, end up leaving you in a very sarcastic or mischievous mood. You're either shooting back with killer zingers or you're trying to see what kind of havoc you can create. It doesn't matter if it's not your usual type of nature, you're almost dying to cause a scene.

        Whookah Bar:
        Quote:
        • 1: Smoke curls heavy in the air and you think that the flowers on every table are capable of moving and speaking. The longer you linger, the louder they talk and eventually it gets to a point that they're impossible to ignore. Each person hears different things, but maybe the flowers are telling you something important...
        • 2: Taking a drag from the pipe, the smoke curls in your lungs and then puffs out in perfect circular rings. You can only speak in the form of questions and often you find your sentences starting with Who, What, Where, or Why. (Carries over into your next RP)
        • 3: Partaking in the hookah results in a nasty coughing fit. No matter what you drink, you can't stop coughing at inopportune times.
        • 4: Thinking it's funny to blow smoke in your companion's face, you discover that doing so has left them extraordinary agitated, even if it's not something they'd normally be bothered by. For the duration of this rp the person who got smoke blown into their face is exceptionally rude, short, and possibly volatile. (Carries over into your next 2 RPs!)

Prompt Hub

Each location comes with it's own set of tailored to status effects and prompts! See below for more information!

As an additional bonus, there will be prompts that have no specific location and may apply to any of the above locations as suited! These may change at any time so keep an eye on them!

General Prompts: These can be done at any of the above locations or in some player-created cafes/businesses in the shopping or party district of Witzend. They may not, however, be used in any mission specific locations! These may be done solo or as a RP, RP is recommended if you're hoping to have something ~happen~. If you have questions, please get in touch!

        Quote:
There's a never ending amount of paperwork to go through so you section on part of your day to work on that. Whether it's mission reports, updating your personal notes or whatever you find a nice spot to sit down and fill things out.

        Quote:
Being gone for several weeks can be hard on a person but you've received permission to phone home once a week. It's not exactly the greatest and you're under strict instructions to keep everything about the mission confidential just in case but the little break is helping you keep on your game. Besides, there are people you miss back home!

        Quote:
You decide to take a stroll through the city. You find various newly constructed building and several that are in process. Maybe you take the time to explore or maybe you snap some pictures for the map you're trying to build. Or, maybe you're trying to play nice with the locals and hope that one of them will have information to share. No matter what the reasoning, it's nice to get out and get some fresh air.

(Disposable Senshi may participate in this one as civs!)

        The Dormouse Cafe:

        Quote:
This is a DAY prompt only:

Rumor has it that the Dormouse Cafe is the place to go if you're looking to trade secrets or information. Therefore it's an appealing location to pop into and visit but it's tricky to navigate how to barter with someone for secrets so, as one of your first ventures into the cafe, you try to watch and observe. People are definitely aware of you, so you probably want to watch what you're saying.

        Quote:
This is a NIGHT prompt only:

Visiting the Dormouse Cafe in middle of the night seems a little sketchy, but you've also heard that it's the best time to get information without trying. There's a long wait and you're stuck standing outside for a long time in the should-be-spring-but-feels-like-winter. If you didn't dress for the weather you're in for an uncomfortable time! It takes anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour before you make it through the doors and another fifteen to twenty minutes to get a table. It's cramped and people all around you are talking in hushed tones but you're hoping you can pick out someone to trade with or, if you're feeling daring, you pretend like you're trading valuable information to see if anyone takes your bait

The Dormouse Cafe has a special prompt that can be utilized within one of the subprompts!:
        Quote:
Twice a week you may visit the Dormouse Cafe and order off the ~secret menu~. Doing so triggers a special set of prompts. Quote Nuxaz. You may do this twice per week but only once per rp and you cannot have multiple RPs at the cafe open or your request will be denied.

        The Crimson Hotel:

        Quote:
Noisy neighbors keep you up all night and you find yourself agitated. Unable to shake the grumpiness that comes with no sleep, you venture out to one of the little eateries inside the hotel. While it's likely to be bubbling with your fellow agents from DC, you discover that there appear to be locals here too. You pick a seat and try to listen in on any conversations going on around you. The lack of sleep makes it hard to concentrate but you try anyway.

        Alice's Tea House:

        Quote:
Alice's Tea House has a lovely outdoor seating area that makes for an excellent place to get a view of one of the busier streets in the shopping district. You're out because you want to familiarize yourself with more of the setting and if you're taking time to people watch and grab a drink well...it's still work right?

        Grinning Cat Boutique:

        Quote:
Shopping doesn't really seem like work but there have been reports of various felines coming and going from this trendy boutique and once or twice it's been rumored that the cats populating it have stars on their forehead. It doesn't seem likely, or they'd have been caught but you're looking into it anyway.

        Whookah Bar:

        Quote:
This is a NIGHT prompt only:

As one of the largest businesses in the party district, you venture in and snag a table. The air is thick with smoke and there's a mix of smells that mingle in the air around you. It's a little disorienting but it really gives you a taste of what Witzend's night life has to offer. Maybe some of you are looking for a way to unwind. Whatever the reason, you're staking it out. At the very least, you're hoping to people watch and familiarize yourself with the locals.

        gaia_star Madeline's Hat Shop:
When doing Missions in Maddy's Hat Shop, if you're investigating something 'specific' please quote Nuxaz

        Quote:
This is a NIGHT prompt only:

Reports say that there was a gas leak that caused the explosion and fire that killed Maddy and her shop, but there are rumors circling if you know where to listen and where to look, that it was arson not accident that sent the place up in flames. You decide that you want to investigate but due to the police tape and the fact that it's technically under investigation, you have to go in at night. Wonder what you'll find

        Quote:
This is a DAY prompt only:

Now that you know the hat shop exists, you can't help but try to scope it out. There's police tape all over the place and it's definitely barred from entry which...wouldn't be too much of a problem if the streets weren't so crowded or you felt like you were being watched. Still, you meander by and hope that you can get one of the locals to talk or...maybe you can eavesdrop on the right conversation...

(Disposable Senshi players are welcome and encouraged to interact with Agents for this one.)
