To say he was wary was a vast understatement- Castor was perturbed. Since obtaining the ring little had changed, but experience told him such things were not without reason, and any new power influx found it's opposite in other manners. Though the place seemed void anything recognizable, he would be a fool to not follow up with others who also had a vested interest in the happenings outside earth's orbit. Namely, in the reaches of space where nothing seemed to tread save the few who had the power to linger upon their desolate worlds.
However, finding those who would perhaps share his hesitance to accept the boon given to him and it's dubious source left much to be desired.
How did one attract a royal who resided in a mirror?
Castor went with a new method this time. Finding a wraith and pinning it down while he gave it a message. "Tell Ribbons and String-" he then paused realizing it might not know who he meant, "-Remarque, to meet me by the interstate highway exit by the overpass. I put a mirror nearby for his convenience." The creature had attempted to kill him, naturally, but Castor lost it soon enough hoping it would be what was needed.
Still, he did have a mirror large enough for a person to step through- from the dump but to his credit he did wipe most of the grime off. Waiting was all that was left to do.

As was the Dark Mirror nature, Remarque had a tendency to wander. More often than not, after he'd spent too much time in Mirrorspace. He had a choice, of which Mirror he popped out of once he was leaving the stark white halls, and he tried to give himself just enough to keep his mind occupied and ground himself when he returned. He didn't want to have a single place, a single area that he wound up in.
He didn't want to be predictable.
But, mirrors got moved or broken, and without a clear image to his destination he couldn't always arrive where he wanted. Tonight, he'd wanted to go to the old historical part of town. He'd wanted to visit one of the older buildings; he'd heard rumors that there was something odd lurking about.
...But the mirror was gone. He'd taken it as a sign and settled for a second location.
More than just a mirror, he'd felt an energy signature. It was a bit of a ways off, but it was odd--in a place like this? What was a Senshi doing next to the interstate?
Curiosity, of course, was his greatest weakness. He moved to seek it out and, to his surprise, found Castor in under a minute.
...With a filthy mirror.
"...Castor," he said; he was only in his eternal form, but that was what he generally used to travel the city. "What the hell are you doing out here with a mirror? You can't tell me you needed to take a break to preen."

The man slumped with relief. Odd in any other context, but, while they might have been enemies, Castor figured the senshi of puppetry was not the type to start throwing a fist from the get go, and he was as before, correct in that assumption. "Waiting for you to be frank." He looked up, frowning as the din of cars racing above them and echoing loudly for a breif moment. At the least, it was not busy on this strech so late at night. "A while ago there was a situation involving myself and a handful of others amongst Order. Tell me- has anything reached out and summoned those of the Dark Mirror?"

Remarque raised a brow. "You're in a strange location tonight. Is there a reason you're being so risky?" They may have been protected by the underpass, but there was something that just didn't sit right with him. Maybe he'd had too many dreams of bridges caving in recently. "Come with me into the mirror, it's safer to talk. Though. You really did pick a disgusting one," he mused, looking at the residual grime along the corners. He'd been through worse, though.
He waited for a response, lingering near the mirror with hands on his hips, but chased away any would-be silence by letting his curiosity blossom. "I can't say anything 's specifically summoned me recently. You want to fill me in a little more there or are we going to dance around the facts? Give me a little more to go on."

Castor knew he wasn't wrong in bringing the mirror prince this far from the city, but going back? He was not as inclined. "Taking me home to meet the folks? Rem, here I'd thought we'd take things slow." He joked, but it was halfhearted. "But personally it has more to do with staying under the radar of the negaverse. Too many officers have been scurrying around and it feels like a itch under the skin, like something is on the horizon but I can't tell what." If the other prince felt it he didn't know, but as of late, Castor had a fair deal of trepidation with the lack of direct activity. "Considering our options, forgive me if I'm hesitant to trust you guiding me through the mirror. As for the exact reason why- I have reason to believe that something recently was awakened- and possibly with a power unknown to us." He stepped forward. "Lead the way." It was a leap of faith and a large measure of trust he gave, and the look he passed to Remarque spoke of it wordlessly.

Remarque gave him an exasperated look and hooked his arm in Castor's. "Relax. I'm sure you spend plenty of time in front of a mirror, why be afraid of what's behind it?"
He placed one hand on the filthy mirror and brushed away a bit more grime before he pressed into it. The surface rippled and he stepped through with as much grace as anyone should expect of a Prince of the Dark Mirror Court.
It was a single step, but the whole world changed immediately. The passage from the underpass into the mirror took all of a second but the darkness was replaced with stark white walls. They arrived in a room with a few mirrors on the side--a clear, golden one that seemed more ornate than the others. Giant doors were off to the side.
Remarque didn't care about this; he simply pulled Castor through and released him immediately.
The sensation was always the same; he'd gotten used to the chill rippling. It felt like jumping into a cold pool. Once, long before, it unnerved him. Now, it was pushed to the back of the mind.
He planted his hands on his hips and looked at him.
"I'll protect you," he said, half smirk on his face. "We won't go far, this room is safe."
Not safe from travelers, but he'd never seen even so much as a wraith in here.
"...So tell me more. About this 'unknown power'. I want to know what's gotten you so worked up."

He snorted at Remarque's jab. Making sure he looked good was nothing to be ashamed over. Still, he followed The worst case scenario- he fled. He knew better than to linger in hostile territory. The chill was 'harder' than ice. It was distinctly unnerving, hostile. It was riplling chaos that brush him, like oil slick fingers, it touched his senses, leaving a foul taste in the back of his mouth. Chaos always did so, and it reminded him too much of his time on Alkaid for his liking. Too much of his time chained and bound as a guest of the negaverse. His breath sucked in and he fought the instinct to summon his ice armor, the blood pumping, the mind screaming danger. "I'm not so foolish puppet master. The most dangerous thing here is you." Blue eyes held a knowing. Castor was very much vulnerable here, and the trust was but a thin thread darn tight. Standing tall, his wings shifted at his back, tight, close to his body. "Recently I was summoned to a place- more, a place off of earth by a force unknown to me. What drew me was no old ally or power I could recall or find any familiarity to. I would assume you understand why I find this in itself distressing." They were royals, beholden to no power but that of the likes of Cosmos herself. "I spoke with Cosmos upon my return who told me this place was beyond her sight, and, possibly beyond this universe. I- I encountered something there Remarque. Old visages of magic and power; Likely before the era of Serenity's empire. While there, I acquired a thing that granted me a boon. A boon of both unknown origin and power. You are a smart man- tactical. Shrewd. Practical. These events are not entirely benign- I fear they portend things to come. Things that stir outside our sight." He twisted his hand together. "I fear something has woken from it's slumber Remarque- and it has a magic unknown to us. I fear something has woken and now it is lose upon the stars we once called home." A single hand was held up. "And No." He glared. "It was not intentional and not something that could have been prevented either. Trust me when I say I have replayed the events in my head a dozen different times. The moment we were summoned, was the moment those events had begun, and only with that inevitable end."

Remarque couldn't help but let his lips curl in a satisfied shadow of a smirk when Castor claimed he was the most dangerous thing here. He'd have liked for it to be true, but he didn't trust Mirrorspace, with all of its secrets and traps.
He let the other prince talk without interruption, though. Castor's discomfort was evident and Remarque wasn't there to harass him. They were safe here, at least, from prying ears outside. It was better than being by a filthy underpass, at least.
He listened with quite intent, and when Castor had finished, he nodded.
"Wouldn't surprise me." He hadn't spoken with Cosmos; he didn't have the same ability to reach her as those untainted by the Mirror. He wouldn't have traded what he was, though. Not yet, not before he understood the mirror. Not before he could guarantee that it couldn't be tamed, used, to keep them safe.
No, let Castor handle things how he could and Remarque would do the same.
"Was it hostile?" he prompted. "Did it attack you in any way? --What did it look like? I see things," he glanced at the mirrors across the room. "...Sometimes. Not ever anything clear. Like a shadow, moving. It's not uncommon," he shrugged. "The wraiths look like a shadow smearing across the wall when they travel, but."
He was quiet for another moment.
"Sometimes it's enough to make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Sometimes it feels like something else. I've found things in here. Things that weren't normal. I've seen things I can't explain, but you get used to that. Nothing about this place comes with an explanation. But if there's any answers I can find, I will. But I want to know what I need to be on the lookout for."

"That's the thing." He hissed, not to the mirror senshi, but to himself. "It had no presence. None. Yet with the heavy guard placed to keep this being confined I have doubts it is benevolent. No to mention, the fact it was bound in things that looked older than the Silver Millennium is telling. It was seal and left there. You don't do that with things that can help you- things than could win a war." No, you did it to things you wanted out of enemy hands- and things you couldn't control. "As for what it looked like- Female. Glowing and ethereal. The places we were held at had no doors to the outside, only windows we couldn't reach by normal means- and I didn't want to shift to my royal visage- I feared it would have garnered unwanted attention. Plus, it's always better to be underestimated." Looking around him, blue eyes picked at their own shadows. "Look for anything old- visions of things unlike all others. A lack of power yet having power all the same. Contradictory I suppose, but-" He sighed. "It is not much to go on, but with the negaverse silent as they are, and the stars themselves ever stagnant, any shift is worth noting. Especially ones outside our grasp."

Remarque was quiet and nodded, letting the information sink in. He tried to imagine what Castor was describing, tried to imagine being in his shoes. He was a powerful, prideful man stuck knowing that there was something out there--something he couldn't understand, couldn't grasp, maybe couldn't stop.
What Castor said made sense; they were things he would have guessed himself, had he been where the Prince was. He wasn't sure if it was a relief or a concern that he found himself agreeing with Castor's assessment so well but he kept that to himself as he listened.
"Contradictory is sort of what makes Mirrorspace function, I think." His eyes drifted to the mirrors, as if any one of them would open up and spill its secrets if he glared hard enough.
"I know there are answers in here. Somewhere. I'm just not digging deep enough."
He was quiet. "...I can't get into space like you. Even if this was an anomaly. But I'll see if there's anything I can find here. I don't doubt there's plenty to be found. But. Maybe I'm just figuring I'll find something I don't want to unleash if I'm not careful."

Castor had resigned himself to the reality it was highly likely the dark prince would know no more than himself. But still, they both knew they lived on effective borrowed time. They did not belong here, not entirely. Earth was simply a temporary home- one that would not be so welcoming in time if the negaverse kept to it's ways. "Keeping your eyes and ears open is all I can ask. I am looking to the stars and keeping my own senses alert for whispers among the order senshi. Right now it is simply... quiet. This event was highly shocking in it's disparity of energy and familiarity- whats more, I fear some of my companions from that trip do not understand the rational of being... prudent with what information we give and share." Blue eyes looked to the mirror senshi. "I have numerous times placed my trust within you, while having gained little in return. Yet, you have just so, held much of our truce well. I hope that you will continue to use discretion when seeking information for our mutual benefit." Tentative, a wing shifted, Castor's unease still on display. His movements were slow as he crossed his arms and waved a hand in the mirror. "But as a favor to date- I am genuinely regretful to report I have no news to relay otherwise- I still do not know of a means to enable our return to the cosmos and reclaim what we lost. Most worlds remain untenable for long periods of occupancy."

'Quiet' was a double edged sword. There was no indicator if it were a good thing to hear nothing, or a bad thing. Either things were peaceful, or calamity was coming; rarely was there any sort of in-between or indication of which was which.
Remarque would have favored some small stirring, enough to keep his eyes on but not enough to bring concern or worry.
"If Mirrorspace had much to report, I'd find my way to get information back to you." He was not ignorant to the information Castor had shared, and while Remarque kept tight lipped about all that he could, there was a necessary give-and-take in this relationship. "It seems wise to keep our eyes to the stars, but I won't turn a blind eye to Mirrorspace. There's much of it we don't yet know, and it's nearly impossible to map or trace. It's always changing. Which, is good," he shrugged, "If we were worried about anything finding its way to us. Bad, though, because it makes it impossible to thoroughly explore or investigate. Maps are useless when everything's always changing. Still, though. It's been months since I've felt a flicker of anything, really. The last time anything happened of note was when the mirrors were sucking people in, when the Court was trapped."
But that might as well have been ancient history; Remarque seemed almost bitter to have had so little sway on the happenings of things during that encounter. Still, he shrugged again. "But I keep looking. I don't trust that Mirrorspace any more than you trust that space is. The fact is, we don't know what lies in either. But if I find anything, I'll find you. I know the Court has different circles, I'll pick and pry and see if anyone's heard anything strange from space. Everyone has a different circle, so maybe someone's heard something."
The Dark Mirror Court wouldn't survive without allies, and Remarque would rather not have Castor as an enemy if he could avoid such a thing.

A barking, bitter laugh came from Castor at the notion of him trusting space. "Isn't that the truth of it. The answers we want exist, just a matter of finding them- and then figuring out how to best use them." "I have hope for us yet Remarque." Us, not himself or the dark senshi, but they both. "Blue eyes looked at him. "But I do want to caution you as well. An.. old adversary has returned, and it will on be a matter of time before she is restored to her former powers and position. I believe you recall her- Tanzanite?" He cracked his neck. "She's back, though, barely held together and alive. Metallia has.. preserved her if you would, but while she is weak now, she will be restored. Be wary, even now in her current state she is still a threat of high caliber, and try to advise those who might not have been conscripted of her nature and her abilities." He sighed. "It would behoove us to kill her sooner rather than later- though I admit it would make for a disappointed battle."

A name he may have heard in passing, but he knew enough of her that he knew he should pay attention. Especially if Castor thought it best to inform him.
He had thought her dead and so paid little attention to rumors and whispers of her. A dead woman bore little threat to himself or the Court. But alive--regardless of health--was of concern, especially if Metallia had chosen to preserve her. When she considered so many of her agents disposable, to have one that was worth caring about made Remarque consider the warning with more weight.
"I'll keep it in mind," he promised. "...Though, I can't say that I've heard anything of her, myself. "Did you see her, or was this warning passed to you as well?"
A warning from Castor would be held with a bit more gravity than the warning of some stranger.
