According to Google, there were only one hundred and eighty-seven thousand people born on Leap Day in the US. It was closer to four million if you wanted worldwide statistics which mean that Marnie Rogers wasn't one in a million.
She was one in four million.
That being said, Bea wasn't... quite certain if they were supposed to celebrate the special non-existent day on February 28th or if they needed to celebrate it on March 1st. She knew she'd probably asked before but forgot the answer, so to be on the safe side she arrived on the evening of February 28th, shortly after getting off from work (she only mildly smelled of movie theater popcorn), on Marnie Roger's doorstep with a gift bag in hand.
And then, after a brief knock on the door, began to yowl the lyrics of Happy Birthday loudly in the hallway, to also announce her presence at the girl's front door.

The benefit of being the only child of an absent, but decently off mother and an involved father who gave his love in the form of cash and buying her whatever she wanted to spite her mom meant that Marnie Rogers didn't have to work if she didn't want to. So she had her witchy things that she used to make extra cash when she couldn't beg off her dad.
That also meant that because she had a birthday on a day that only existed once every four years (because lame) Marnie's place was filled with presents from both parents, the few friends she had outside of her cute girlfriend, and that she would likely get more tomorrow.
It was nice having a family that would just buy whatever from the wishlists she emailed their way every year.
Bea's yowling earned her a big smile when Marnie tugged the door open. "Hiya Beaby," she greeted, teeth biting into her bottom lip. She reached for the girl's face, cupping her cheeks and silencing her with a kiss.

Beatrice dropped the bag.
Seeing Marnie was always a nice moment in time but as she felt warm hands brush against cool cheeks that had come from the outside chill, fingers had warbled and fumbled with the bag's strings. When lips had pressed against hers, finishing up the job of silencing the already now-mumbled song, the bag fell completely, Bea left looking just about as stunned as she felt.
"H...Hey, Mar."
Smooth going, B. Kellye.
She still wasn't used to the whole kissing thing - much less the girlfriend thing - but she sure as heck didn't mind getting some practice in to help her get used to it.
Remembering the discarded present now sitting on her sneakers, Bea broke away so she could dip down and scoop up the fallen gift, soon shoving it towards the cooler, more stylish girl as she murmured a quiet, "Happy Birthday, MarMar."

Marnie's fingers wrapped around the bag's handle before she used her free hand to grab her girlfriend's hand and tugged her inside. She didn't stop until they reached the couch, where she promptly took a seat and tugged Bea down with her, immediately snuggling into the girl's side before she started to pull out the tissue paper and began rummaging through it for whatever it contained.
"You didn't have to get me a gift y'know," Marnie drawled, pausing in her rummaging to look up at the pale haired girl before she sat up just enough to kiss her cheek.
"But like, I'm glad you did," she stated, shrugging before she started to pull something out of the bag.

For the first time since they'd known each other, Bea hadn't gotten the other girl a self-made stuffed animal. She knew that Marnie liked them and all - at least, she always said she did - but Bea knew that she was supposed to be grown up now and grown ups didn't sit on the floor of their bedrooms making stuffed animal mutants for everyone else.
At least, none of the grown ups she knew did.
So, using her paycheck from the movie theater, she'd managed to go to one of the gothy, edgier shops in the mall (see: Hot Topic) and found a really badass looking skull decoration that was actually a jewelry box sort of... thing. Or a box, really, once you took the top of the skull off. Whether or not Marnie used it for jewelry or some of her spell ingredients was really up to her.
"I thought you could use a container," she mumbled, still reeling from the cheek kiss with a shy smile. "If you don't like it, I've still got the receipt and we can find something else for you."
At the bottom of the bag was a small figure she'd also found at the store in question, of a grumpy cat that looked suspiciously like Rasputin did. At least, it did to Bea, foul thing that he was.

When she didn't find the familiar soft, fluffiness of a stuffed animal and instead found the smoothness of something else, Marnie was surprised. So surprised that she sat up when she pulled it from the bag and her brow furrowed when she looked it over, opening the top to reveal that there was a pocket where she could put things.
And then she fished out the little Rasputin-esque figurine.
"No custom B creation?" She asked, blinking when she turned to face the pale haired girl. "These are like, really great, just so you know," she added quickly grinning at her girlfriend before things were set on the coffee table.
"You'll have to help me figure out where to put the cat where Rasp won't break it."

"I-I didn't think you'd want another dumb stuffed animal," she stammered at the question, unprepared to have to answer. Bea had figured that Marnie would probably have been relieved not to be forced to accept another monster --- had she been wrong in her assumption?
The worried look curled up into a smile, though, at the mention of the mean 'ol familiar. "There's no place he can't get to. He'd find a way to it just to spite me, y'know."
The white haired girl paused, then inched a little closer to the other woman.
"Maybe... we could do a little bit of birthday kissing, before we figure out what to do for your birthday dinner?"
Subtly was not Bea's strongest suit.

Marnie shrugged.
"If you made it for me, I'd love it because it's from you Bea." Fingers smoothed hair back from her girlfriend's face, grinning as she inched closer.
"Yeah?" She laughed, welcoming the girl's intrusion in her space readily before she was drawing her in for more kisses. "I'd like that," she mumbled against Beatrice's mouth before following up with more kisses.
If things kept going like this, she knew her birthday was going to be great.
