Lesath was enjoying a night for herself. Somehow she had convinced Jett that he should spend the night with Chloe and Eloise, and she grinned imagining her husband cuddled on the couch with their girls, re watching Moana for the umpteenth time.
Not that she didn’t enjoy the movie…she was just sick of it…but Chloe loved to sing the songs at the top of her lungs and ran around the house in her Moana dress, clutching the stuffed pig that Jett's mom had given her. It was cuter than she could even discuss but…
…But sometimes she just needed a few hours to herself and she hadn’t been out on a patrol in how long?
And, of all the good luck, she had managed to find a chaos Mauvian as well and now she held the sweet tempered cat in her arms as she walked, petting the soft, black and white creature.
“It’s such a beautiful night tonight, Soyala, isn’t it? And it’s so blissfully quiet. I’m not used to quiet anymore.” She laughed softly and lept up onto a nearby building, sitting on the edge and just cuddling the cat. “What do you think, should we search for someone to bring into my court tonight? I do enjoy that. And my husband gets a kick out of me bringing home newbies when I get the chance to. I don’t get out much anymore, but when I do…well.” Lesath shrugged.
“It’s nice to at least see that I’m trying to grow our court.”

Soyala purred happily, snuggling up against Lesath. Perhaps the Dark Mirror would never be hers, the way that a Corrupt Senshi could be, but she liked them well enough, and liked helping them. Especially ones like Lesath, who were polite and pleasant and made her feel useful.
"I would be happy to help you find someone to bring in," she said, and she bumped her head against Lesath's arm. "It's always good to see the Dark Mirror Court grow. Chaos is Chaos is Chaos, after all."
She purred, and then her ears flicked. "I think I sense someone. I know we just got here, darling, but could we step down?"Quiet nights like this were Reiko's favorite thing. She loved going for walks, and she loved taking in the quiet.
And, part of her hoped, she might just see some of the things that were supposed to go bump in the night, here in Destiny City. She hadn't been here long, but she knew the stories, and she wanted to see them for herself.
Fort he moment, though, she'd taken a seat on a bench, and was casually browsing Twitter. Because that was the easy way to distract herself.

Lesath gave a quiet, dramatic sigh and nodded, laughing softly. “You couldn’t have sensed someone like two seconds ago. I sometimes think that you might just be punishing me for not being yours.” The words were teasing, but the senshi leapt off of the building, holding Soyala gently so she didn’t fall and as her eyes landed on the girl on a nearby bench, she nodded.
“I’m going to assume that this is the one you’re sensing, Soyala?” Her words were hardly a whisper, but she began walking towards the distracted looking girl with quiet footsteps.
If this wasn’t who the cat had sensed well. Then perhaps she’d just get some energy out of this but…
“It’s a beautiful night, isn’t it?”
Lesath’s voice was conversational and she looked down at the girl with her face in her phone with a broad smile. “It’s late though, don’t you think? This isn’t the type of city that you want to be alone in…you could be hurt. And yes, I’m well aware of how utterly creepy I sound right about now, it hit me as I was speaking, but now I can’t take back my words so…perhaps we could just…forget I said any of them?”
She held out a hand. “I’m Lesath.”

"I would never be so petty," Soyala said playfully, and she snuggled up close as they leapt down, but once they were on the ground and Lesath acknowledged the girl that she sensed, Soyala wiggled and leapt out of the Eternal's arms, shaking herself a little.
"Yes, this is the one," she said, and then she trundled over, climbed into the girl's lap, and firmly nudged her phone away, because it was time to pay attention to Soyala. As soon as Reiko heard someone walking over, her head jerked up, and she stared with slightly wide eyes as the cat clambered up into her lap. That was...weird.
And then the cat insistently nudged at her phone, and yes, okay, what the woman was saying was a little bit odd? But it wasn't untrue. So she was well and prepared to smile and nod and shake the very, very attractive woman's hand.
"Hi, yeah, it is a pretty nice night. For Destiny City, at least." She shoved her phone in her pocket and extended a hand. "Hi. I'm Reiko. I, uh? Was actually kind of hoping to find some of the dangerous stuff. There are so many Destiny City urban legends, I moved here to see if I could find some in person.""What terribly risky behavior," Soyala tsked, unhappily. "So much the better that we found you, then, so that you might be able to protect yourself."

Lesath relaxed at the girl’s reaction to her and smiled. “Urban legends, hm? Like what? What were you hoping to discover, and just let me tell you, it’ll be much easier to discover them with my help, if you’d like.”
She looked her over and seemed pleased that Soyala was taking charge like this. She was a good cat, and there were often times where the Eternal just wanted to take her home and make her a part of the family but…
Well. You couldn’t force a cat to do anything and she couldn’t have the talking feline around her little ones, as unfortunate as it was.
“You could have powers, you know. Magic lies within you. I have the ability to draw it out. If you’re interested.” Lesath paused for a moment, letting the words sink in before she grinned. “Who knows, Reiko, perhaps you could become one of this city’s urban legends. Wouldn’t you like to be amazing? Well.” She reached out and took the hand, squeezing it. “More amazing than you are already.”

Reiko looked between the woman, in her strange, magical-looking outfit, and the cat, contentedly settled on her lap and looking at her as if it was ridiculous to be surprised that she could talk.
"People talk about...strange monsters, and people in bizarre outfits slinging what sounds like magic." Reiko inhaled, tightly.
"You're one of them, aren't you." It was the most obvious possible answer. Magic was real, the urban legends were true, and it was all right in front of her. "And I could...what? Become one of you?" She glanced down at their hands."You could, yes." Soyala bumped her head against Reiko's cheek affectionately, and then climbed up to wind herself around the girl's shoulders like a magnificent, floofy stole. "You have a powerful heart, Reiko. We can awaken that power.""Okay," Reiko said, and then she noeded, firmly. "How do I do it? Where do I sign up? Is there some kind of eldritch ritual? Do I have to like, go to a shrine at 3 AM every night for a month and nail up a wara ningyō, or something like that?" She wrinkled her nose.
"I hope not. Please tell me it's easier than that."

Lesath stared at the girl for a long moment, blinking rapidly as she tried to process just what the girl said and finally she shrugged. “All you have to do is come with me into a mirror and I’ll awaken your destiny…it’s quite easy, actually.” She gave a little laugh, shaking her head. “I don’t like to set impossible tasks. If it had been at all like what you just said…I would have never gotten as far as I have, let me tell you. It’s not that I’m lazy, but um. That’s a lot.”
She tugged the hand that she held and began walking towards the nearest mirror, moving slowly, going backwards so that she could still keep an eye on Reiko. “Now, it’s a little trippy, mirrorspace but…it’s not so bad, I promise.”
Not giving the girl a chance to answer, Lesath pulled the three of them into the mirror, straightening up when they were inside. “See? Trippy.”

Reiko exhaled, and nodded. "Okay, that's good, then. Because like I said, I'd, uh, rather not have to do something like that."
She let Lesath lead her forward, feeling her heart rate pick up. This was...this was something special. Something remarkable. So it wasn't with nervousness or apprehension that she stepped through the mirror, but with excitement. When they got to the other side, she gasped in delight.
"Trippy, yes, but...amazing. What a fascinating place!"As Lesath pulled them through the mirror,. Soyala shivered head to tail, and made a tiny, unhappy "prrt" noise. "Mm. Always feels a bit like swimming," she said, and her tone conveyed exactly how little she thought of the prospect. "But lovely, on the other side.
"So, Lesath, are we ready to proceed to the Black Mirror?"

Lesath grinned, looking exceptionally pleased with the girl’s reaction and the reaction of the cat. “I’m glad that you think so. Honestly, I don’t visit as often as I should.” She didn’t do anything as often as she could, if she were being honest.
She walked the two over to the large mirror in the room and nodded, drawing in a breath. “Well, Reiko, all you have to do is walk through, and you’ll come out more powerful, and safe in the family of the Dark Mirror Senshi.” She watched and gave the girl a gentle, almost playful shove towards the mirror. “I haven’t, I mean, I wasn’t awakened this way, but the people that i”ve helped haven’t said that it hurts, so don’t worry about that. Come on, let me see how pretty you look!”
A new little sister.

Reiko stared, for a long moment, at the mirror. This was it. Her moment of truth.
"Okay," she said, softly, "let's see who I really am."
She stepped forward, into the glass. It was like moving through ice-cold water, and she felt something in the mirror reach for her, like it wanted to wrap her in its dark embrace.
She let it, and when she stepped out on the other side, she was changed.
Soyala waited in eager anticipation, entire furry body vibrating eagerly. She watched, as the girl stepped through the mirror, and as she moved out, the cat did a little acrobatic flip, producing a pen. She swanned over, offering it to the newly-minted Dark Mirror, who took it from her mouth and turned it over, looking wondering.
"Welcome to the Dark Mirror, Sailor Asuka of Onryo," Soyala said, and she moved to wind between the Senshi's feet. "So lovely. Look after her, won't you, Lesath?"

Lesath watched as the girl entered the mirror, and exited as someone else. A new member of the court. She smiled warmly, scooping up Soyala into her arms and nodding. “I can take care of her from here, but I have to get us both back to the city. Sailor Asuka, welcome to the family. We’re very happy to have you! I love that look, it’s different and really neat!”
She felt warm, and rather happy, reaching out her hand to take the new senshi’s, squeezing it gently. “Come on, you can come over to my place if you’d like, I’ll explain everything and introduce you to another member of the court.”
Walking out of mirrorspace was easy, and she put the corrupted guardian on the ground, giving her one last gentle pet before glancing around and powering down. “Come on, I think there’s some ice cream in the freezer, and my kids should be asleep by now.”
Lesath’s role in the court was a small one now, but when she got to bring someone in...it was always a nice feeling. Tonight was no exception.
