Even before Rhona opened her eyes, she knew she'd overslept. Not that she really had a choice... Between the beating that she'd taken, the fight she'd been sucked in to, and the way she fell off of Lavender, heavy and oh so satisfied it was no wonder that the next thing she knew it was right now. The scent of Lavender filled and surrounded her, and the hazy memories of the previous days filled her mind. Somehow, though she had been awake and cognizant, this felt like the first time she was really recalling the events with a sound mind. They filtered back in like brownish-grey memories from a night out, all confused and jumbled. Rhona tried to make sense of it before abandoning the venture as a lost cause. things would sort themselves out in time. They always did.
Rolling over, sunlight hit Rhona in the face in a not-unpleasant way, though she did throw an arm over her eyes to block out the sudden brightness. Of course, rolling over also brought the added benefit of breakfast wafting into her nose. She smiled sleepily and peeling her arm from across her face. Her phone read nearly noon, which was a good five hours later than she normally slept. Five hours past when she usually liked to be up and dressed and moving.
She would cite pleasure and struggle as her excuses for the time being.
Lazily and with no haste in her bones what so ever, Rhona tossed her shirt over her torso and her underwear over her hips before shuffling out to meet Lavender.
"Sorry I overslept," she muttered, hair a comically wild mess and eyes half-lidded as she pressed her lips against the softly thrumming pulse of her lover.

Lavender laughed lightly, working on the softly sizzling eggs and bacon, thick slices of French toast already piled on a plate, covered by foil. “You’ve had enough to deal with in the past few days Rho, I’m happy you did. And I get to pamper you with breakfast because of it.”
Tilting her head, Lavender allowed the kiss, relaxing under it and giving a soft, happy sigh. “I hope you slept well. I know you were out like a light. It made me happy to see.”
The woman twisted slightly, choosing to capture Rhona’s lips in a soft, eager kiss. “And I will say…waking up with you beside me is hands down the very best way to wake up in the whole world, Rhona Lee. I highly recommend it.” She was in a good mood. A great mood, even, and the smile on her face glowed as brightly as the sun filled kitchen did.
“Hope you’re hungry. I got a little carried away.”

Rhona made a sleepy sound as Lavender kissed her and countered, "you think that's nice? You should try waking up next to you sometime." And falling asleep next to you. And sleeping with you.Rhona was, not for the first time, unspeakably grateful not to have the same woes as a man in her position would, and allowed her thoughts to meander down that path as they liked while she nestled her nose into the crook of Lavender's shoulder. Honestly, though, it really was a pity that Lavender would never get to experience herself the way Rhona did. All dark skin and bright eyes. Fluffy tousled hair and a figure she would slay for and be slain over. A voice that reached heaven and hands that would lead her right to hell. Yeah. It was definitely a good thing Rhona wasn't male. "I have you to thank for being able to sleep last night," she finally yawned as she pulled away from Lavender, albeit regretfully. "I was all wound up from the fight, I'd have been up all night had you not taken all the wind out of me." She tossed a cheeky wink at her girlfriend as she stole a piece of bacon from the plate of excess strips. "I dare say you were better than any sleep aid, my love. Now I'm all excited and ready to show you your surprise."

Lavender grinned and blew a strand of hair out of her face. “I’m ready to see my surprise. I do like surprises a lot, you know. I hope it’s something amazing, you’ve been hyping it up for a while now.”
The woman let her fingers tug gently on Rhona’s curls, stretching them out and watching how they bounced back. “Though, if it isn’t a good surprise and it’s just you showing me a place I missed where you got hurt and you need me to administer my own special first aid…I mean, I suppose I wouldn’t mind too much. Unless you really are hurt, and then you know I’ll be cross with you.”
It was easy to keep her tone light and joking, but she was concerned. A lot of the time when Rhona had a surprise, it didn’t mean that it was a good surprise. Of course, Lavender hoped that it was, but…it was sometimes much better to be cautious when it came to her girlfriend and her whims.

The concern didn't escape Rhona. Had she really causes so much concern? She knew that Lavender worried about her, of course she did, Rhona worried about her but... for some reason, until this exact moment, Rhona hadn't realized how much worry she'd caused in the woman she loved. There she was going again, Rhona suddenly realized. Causing pain when she should be alleviating it. She lifted her face and studied Lavender's for a moment before she nodded, seeming to decide on something unspoken. She set her face seriously and stepped back, taking Lavender's hands in her own as she made space between them. "Lavender Burmingham," she began soberly, "I promise that from now on, as long as I can help it, any surprise that I give you will be a good one. That means, from this breath I take until my last, there's no more running into fire. I promise." Of course, there would always be times when the fire found her... there was no avoiding it when it came to who and what they were... but maybe... maybe it was time to stop seeking out trouble. Especially given the plan that Rhona had been working on for so long. "So given that promise, this surprise is a good one. Scouts honor." She leaned in again and brushed her lips against Lavender's cheek. "So let's eat up so that I can show you."

Lavender looked into Rhona’s eyes and tried to keep her expression somewhat reminiscent of a pout, but finally she broke into a warm smile and nodded. “Scouts honor, Rho. You’ve made a promise now, and if you break it, I will be very, very sad you know. You don’t want to make me sad, do you?”
She widened her eyes and let her lip tremble slightly. “…Because, I bet I can make you feel really bad if I start crying…but. What’s the surprise. Enough talk! I want it now, okay?”
Puckering her lips, Lavender leaned close and gave her lover a kiss on the lips, beaming. “Is it something that I’ll remember forever? Are you going to suggest that we run away and elope, because the answer is obviously going to be yes, not to spoil the surprise, of course.”
She felt almost nervous. Giddy and excited, her stomach doing strange little flutters.
Whatever was going to happen…she was excited about it. Especially with Rhona’s promise.
