Though the sun was hidden behind thick clouds, the split coat tom knew the day was somewhere between sunhigh and sundown. As he sat on his rock, he looked up at the sky thoughtfully. The clouds were dark but he probably had awhile before they let loose the water they carried. These were his favorite kind of days, darker days with a cool breeze blowing. Even if these days brought rain along, the break from the sunlight was a welcome one. Lost in the moment, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath as another gust blew past him.

As the breeze died down the tom opened his eyes and gazed into what he had thought was an empty forest ahead of him expecting to see someone else. Confused, he left his rock and took a few steps farther into the forest. There had been a scent on the wind, the scent of another cat, there was no mistaking it. Yet, he had been traveling around these woods for a little while and hadn't come across another cat in these parts before.

The scent had been close but as he looked around the forest floor, he did not spot another cat. His dark tipped tail twitched back and forth in an annoyed fashion and his eyes narrowed. There was no way he was wrong, there had to be another cat around here somewhere. With a huff he turned around and began walking in the direction he knew led out of the forest. He walked away from the scent on high alert, his dark ear perked and listening behind him for any sign of an ambush.

Now that RobinClan had mostly decided on the territory they were aiming to settle in, it was just a matter of settling into it. Figuring out what dens they could make where and so on. As such, Sunflight, since getting her name and lives from her warrior ancestors, was aiming to do her best in scouting it out. Her fellow Clan mates were checking out other parts of the territory as well as hunting among themselves.

She had been traversing through the branches that surrounded what she suspected would be the main camp, when she had caught the scent of another cat that didn't belong to her small Clan. On quiet, nimble paws she moved like a breeze through the branches and leaves. She almost missed the tomcat with his dark colors and unusual patterns. She studied him for a while, following along with him before he started to head in the direction where it would be harder to follow him.

Not wanting him to leave without finding out who he was (maybe he wanted to join RobinClan, she thought with a burst of excitement), she started scaling the tree she was on, finally perching on one of the lower branches as she called out.
"H-Hey, wait a second!" More comfortable in the trees, she stayed on her lower branch, deciding she could probably scamper further up the tree if it turned out he did not want her company. "I mean, hi there! Is everything okay?" Sunflight asked with a curious smile.

Even though he knew someone else was out there and had his ear perked and alert, the voice behind him still caught him off guard. With a startled jump, Split spun around and faced the cat who spoke. The she-cat's voice helped him find her on a lower limb of a nearby tree. Like most of his encounters with others, Split greeted the new cat with flattened ears and narrowed eyes. Split suppressed the growl in his throat. He did not appreciate being startled but the new cat didn't seem aggressive so he had no real reason other than his bad mood to hiss or raise his voice.

"Everything was fine until you showed up." Split said in a light grumble. There was no real anger in his voice, just his usual annoyance. His tail twitched from side to side behind him and he settled into a defensive position to watch the new she-cat sitting in her tree. What was she doing up there anyway?

Watching the tomcat spin around to face her was entertaining, but Sunflight tried not to get too overeager. He didn't seem as friendly as she had hoped, but... maybe he was just shy! She smiled at him despite his words.

"Oh? Why might that be?" She asked. "I'm not going to try to attack you or anything, if that's what you're worried about. I'm friend--Woah, your eyes!"
Sunflight had just now noticed the tom's eyes, too focused on his unusual markings as it was. And his ear that wouldn't stay pointed for whatever reason. She leaned forward, blinking. "Your eyes are like mine! Well, sort of. Different colors, but they're still really pretty!" She mewed. "Say, what's your name, stranger? I'm Sunflight."

As the she-cat began to talk, Split's mood only worsened. This new cat was, Split assumed, one of those always happy cats; the kind that never seemed phased by insults or show sadness. At her first mention of his eyes, Split braced himself for normal reaction others had to his appearance. A hiss almost escaped him but then the female continued and he realized that the two of them did share something in common.

Though her pelt wasn't as different as his own, it was different enough. She was a rather pale calico and having the two different colored eyes, she could probably relate to some of the things he had gone through. Perhaps she was worth investigating.

"Split." Came his single word reply. He figured he should acknowledge her compliment to his eyes and probably compliment her's back but he was still thinking it over. From his recent interactions with cats in this area he knew that if he complimented a friendly cat, they would probably assume he was their friend now and that was not the case. Split didn't do friends, nor socializing really, so he stayed quiet and studied the cat in the tree before him.
