Cygnus cracked his knuckles, sitting on the top bar of a swing set in the park. He was not actually using the swings, and had not bothered, since he wasn't really in the mood for fun and games. Really, he wasn't sure what he was in the mood for.
He did not really want to be powered up at all, yet for some reason he kept doing it.
Maybe he was just hoping something would change.
Grumpy, he jumped down from the swing set and pushed the swing seat away from him as his landing made it wobble. That only encouraged it to do as swings do and move back then forward again. It bumped his leg and he shoved it harder, with mostly the same results. Growling, he grabbed the seat and pulled, trying to break the chain.
Despite his senshi strength, limited as it was as a Chibi, he found himself unable to pull the chain from the well rooted metal poles of the old swing set. It made him incredibly frustrated, but he refused to give up, engaging in a battle of wills with the chain and pulling as hard as he could.

Versailles slowly moved this way and that, trying to find someone to gather energy from. It was too bad that it was winter. So many people refused to come out. Though he would have to if he didn't have any Negaverse obligations. And he hoped that he wouldn't be sucked into something like that bottle thing again. He shivered just thinking about it. That place was awful!
He was about to turn and call it a night when he felt a tiny Order signature. It made him curious. He knew what a basic senshi's signature felt like, but this one felt... weaker in a way, but stronger in another. He didn't know what it was, which made him even more curious. And off he went in the direction that he assumed it was coming from.
And when he could see who it was well... it was surprising. It looked like some little kid who... was fighting with the swing set? Versailles couldn't help but laugh a bit at the picture. Apparently the boy was very frustrated at the inanimate object.

Cygnus felt the aura and heard the laugh, his anger spiking immediately. He turned sharply, letting go of the swing and letting it hit the back of his legs as he faced whoever it was that was making him feel like an idiot. No one laughed at him! And if they did, he pushed them down in the tanbark or flushed their head in a toilet.
Though that really only worked at school, and now that he was older it was harder to get away with it anyway. He was not the bully he once was, thinking the super powers he was given helped him turn a new page. Now, however, he regretted giving up the only fun he had since the whole hero thing was clearly not for him.
He pointed at Versailles angrily.
"Are you laughing at me?!" He stomped closer, trying not to let his cheeks burn red and betray that most of his anger stemmed from embarrassment, "I'll make you regret it if you are! There's nothing funny here, so go away!"
The little Senshi of Fear was more angry than afraid, which was true a lot of the time these days.

Versailles stopped laughing when the kid came over and started to yell at him. It seemed the child had some anger issues. Versailles couldn't help but grimace. "Well maybe you wouldn't look so silly if you weren't literally trying to fight a swing set." He said blandly, trying to make the child understand the situation. Times like this made him glad that he was an only child. At least he didn't have little siblings to deal with.
Versailles took a step closer to the kid and with his hand, flicked the top of the boy's head. Sure, not the greatest idea, but again, bad with children. "Why don't you do something more productive to get rid of that anger rather than taking it out on an inanimate object. Take a self-defense class or something. Or maybe even play some sports so you can burn off that energy." Versailles was trying to be truthful with his suggestions. Even if he didn't get along with children, he still didn't want to fight one when he was powered up anyway. Children shouldn't be soldiers after all.

No worries, I do it all the time.
"I could fight YOU instead!" Cygnus railed, though he was hoping not to be taken up on that offer. While he did have a lot of anger in him right now, he was still just a chibi senshi, and a first stage to boot. Not the strongest or most intimidating of things out there.
Usually, people felt too guilty to try and attack him.
Then the guy decided to be super condescending, in a way that his own brother might have in an effort to calm, yet further infuriate, Cygnus. That only served to remind him of his loss, and flood him with a lot of emotions that he was doing his best to avoid at all costs. Because of all that, he let his anger surge again.
"I don't NEED self defense, I already have something I can use for that!"
Super powers.
He pulled his foot back and kicked at Versailles' leg as hard as he could, not really care which of them was on what side, and who was stronger than whom. All that really mattered was proving that he was no helpless kid, and something to take seriously.
Why did that matter? He didn't really care.

Versailles cursed to himself as the kid hit his leg in what could only be called the "funny bone" of the leg. Versailles was not well versed in anatomy. All he knew was that it hurt in the way it did when someone hit their elbow. Painful, but also just weird.
This kid clearly had some anger issues and probably believed that he could beat anyone and anything just because he was a senshi. He was still a chibi though, which gave Versailles a slight advantage, but he wouldn't underestimate the boy just because of that.
He let go of the kid, gritting his teeth both from the pain and the annoyance that was not building up from this kid that really just needed to be put in time out or something. After all, Versailles wouldn't advocate child violence, unless it was in self-defense. And this kid was getting very close to crossing that line.
"Oh, and what are you going to do if you can't use your powers? I guarantee that at some point you will be unable and where will you be then? You can't rely on just your powers. You have to learn how to do more, or else you'll be hurt." And then with his speed, Versailles got close to the child and sent out his hand to slap the kid, hopefully with a dose of reality. But he couldn't guarantee a hit. He might have to use his powers just to show the boy that he may not just be able to fight back.

Cygnus watched the other with a scowl, holding his fists up in a way that indicated he did not really know how to fight anyone. So far he was just making things up as he went along and it was working so far. Mostly. Besides the fact that he could do nothing to help his missing brother. And never really saved anyone before. And rarely did anything on his patrols at all beyond wandering around.
He was mostly just a super powered grumpy kid with a massive chip on his shoulder.
"Like I care if I get hurt. This is all a stupid made up war that adults and old people believe in, and then just make us fight in. Who cares about any of it, anyway, really? Half the time no one even knows what they're fighting for or why! At least I know what I want to do, and I'm going to do that no matter what it takes. I don't need any help, and I definitely don't need any advice from someone I don't even know!"
Cygnus was young and naive, and growing up too quickly for his own good despite his age. He was missing a lot of things in his life, and without sturdy guidance he was only going to get lost. Unfortunately, he had no intention of letting anyone get close to him now, after knowing what it feels like to lose someone so dear.
Getting some sense slapped into him, quite literally, was probably just what he needed. He stumbled, looking shocked.
"You want to see powers?! FINE! Then FEEL MY FEAR!"
Quote:
Sailor Scout Attack: Feel My Fear Cygnus creates a cloud of smoke that evaporates in the air. The area around him becomes infected with this gas, which makes a person's body react like it is experiencing a strong dose of fear. The effect radius is immediately around Cygnus, branching out to about five feet in any direction, and lingers in the air for ten seconds before it vanishes. If breathed in, the effects of the gas last for up to twenty seconds.

As dangerous as the kid was, Versailles still couldn't help but feel sorry for him. It was true, it was a stupid war that adults were continuing, but there was also a lot more to it. It's just that the powers that "be" often took advantage of people to use them for their own purpose. He was on the "bad" guy side, but he had his own reasons. Or at least he had been thinking about it for a while now, even if he hadn't been a Corrupt Senshi for that long.
"The fact that no one does care about it makes it a problem kid. The problem isn't just going to go away by ignoring it or running in blindly, fists flailing, and no real clue as to how to reach your goal. You may know what you want to do, but how are you going to do it?" The kid had powers, and was certainly more powerful than ordinary adult citizens, but it was reckless power.
But before Versailles could say anything else, the senshi announced his attack, and for a brief moment, Versailles thought he saw smoke. And he could tell that he had breathed something in by the slight change in smell that went into his nose, but he didn't know what had happened. The only thing that he could tell that was going on right now was that everything was pitch black. And there was something... shiny that he could see.
When he went to touch it, the object clinked and Versailles immediately recognized what it was. It was just like that supid bottle event. The one he really should have gotten some counseling on considering he had died twice there. It was yet another reminder of his mortality that he hadn't wanted to experience ever again. It scared him...
"S***." Versailles said. This was a power based on fear wasn't it? Though that should have been obvious from the words that the chibi had yelled. It was most likely an illusion, just like his powers, but that didn't mean that the psychological effects weren't there. He would have to survive this. He knew it wasn't real, he just had to convince his primal brain that it was. He figured that the kid was still around and just couldn't be seen, and so Versailles decided to take a few steps back, just in case.

Cygnus watched as the other guy managed to get dosed by his powers. A good breath of that smoke seemed to send people reeling, which was good for him. It was still pretty new, how each person reacted to the fear toxin, but it usually resulted in a chance for Cygnus to either spring an attack, or run away.
He was not in the mood to run this time: he wanted to prove that even if he didn't serve anyone, and didn't really have a purpose, he was a threat. Once he figured out what he wanted to do, after he got his brother back, then maybe Chaos would have a lot more to worry about.
There was no chance he was just going to hide any more. He hated everything way too much to stay quiet about it. If anything, he just needed to make a scene to prove how unhappy he was. What was the point of having powers if he didn't get to use them the way he wanted? It was a difficult lesson for him to learn, but he was trying to find his own way through all the darkness Chaos created.
"You talk too much!" Cygnus informed Versailles as he leaped forward and took a swing for his face. It was not exactly a fair attack, but that was something Cygnus could live with.

Versailles was still stuck in the illusion, which meant that he couldn't see the fist flying towards his face. When he did feel the pain though, he was only glad that it hadn't landed at his mouth. Still, getting his eye punched wasn't a great feeling either. Versailles reeled, taking a step back. That was it, clearly this kid was going all out, and if he was, then so would Versailles.
He assumed the kid was still within a close distance, but if he wasn't, hopefully he could get the child with his next attack.
He snapped his fingers and called out his attack. "Behold my Splendor!" If the attack didn't land, then hopefully the kid's attack would be going away soon, and he would then be able to use it again.
Sailor Scout Attack: Behold my Splendor With this attack, Versailles says the name and snaps his finger and a brilliant light shines down on him. A target within a 5 foot radius is dazzled by his splendor and suddenly confused as to who they are and who their allies and enemies may be. They feel no urge to attack. Lasts 15 seconds. Can be used three times in battle.

Cygnus felt elated as he managed to land a good hit. Hey, this fighting thing was not so hard after all! Sure, he was definitely not fighting the right person, as they were technically on the same side, but that sort of detail was irrelevant. Anyone that got on his nerves or proved they deserved it was going to get punched or kicked.
Who needed friends, anyway?
When the older guy called his attack, though, the Chibi was caught off guard. The one thing about magic was it was very difficult to tell what an attack could do to him, just from what they said when they summoned it. As it turned out, this one was pretty literal, as the bright light was more than splendorous.
"Yargh!" Pronounced Cygnus, backing up and covering his eyes on instinct, wincing and finding it was a very effective way to shut a battle down almost as soon as it started. He sat down abruptly, heaving a sigh and waiting for his sight to clear. "That's cheating."

Well, even if the Chibi Senshi hadn't been effected by the magic, it had least done the trick and the kid was now sitting. Still, that didn't mean that Versailles should underestimate the kid. After all, the child could probably launch his attack while sitting too.
Versailles shrugged at the child's words. "All is fair in love and war." He would have reminded the Chibi Senshi that he had also launched an attack that had caused Versailles not to be able to see, but he was sure that it would have started another rage-fit from the little one. And after already having gone through one, Versailles did not want to go through another one.
Versailles sighed, glad that the fight was over. "Look, you clearly have some issues you need to deal with, and if you aren't careful, then you're going to run into someone who's a lot worse than me, got it? You're lucky I'm so nice." Now was his chance to get away from all of this. "You probably think you're invincible but you aren't, and you need to remember your weaknesses and strengths together. Otherwise you will be in way over your head. Make sure you think before you run head first into a battle again." He said, taking a few steps back, before turning and walking, then running away, just in case the child decided they wanted to do another round. Versailles was done for the night, and now all he wanted to do was go home and rest. The fact that children could be Senshi was... disturbing, and he needed some time to reflect and think on it.

Fin from me tooooo thank you!
Cygnus sat and listened, frowning at the ground.
"I don't have issues," he grumbled, though he was at least smart enough to understand that, yes, he did. He missed his brother, and hated what happened to him. He wanted to get him back, but was ultimately too weak to do anything about any of it. He was having a hard time figuring out his role as a super hero, on top of all that.
So yeah, issues he had.
He let the rest of the words sink in to the back of his head, his vision clearing but his will to stand up not yet returning. He was just sort of blobbing there, slouched and keeping his eyes downcast. As he heard the other running away from him, a snuffle escaped his trembling body. His eyes filled with tears and he covered his face with his hands, feeling lost conflicted, and very alone.
