Das Tor
There was always something to draw at the park. Tor had learned that early on, as a child. So when they couldn't think of anything, they sat themself on a bench, tablet in hand, and looked for something, anything, to doodle or draw. For a bit, they settled on the landscape, the trees and lamps and bushes, and then they spotted someone perfect. Someone fiddling with something new, and making herself a perfect subject. Getting up from the bench, they trotted over to the blonde, grin on their lips.
"Excuse me? Ah, I have an odd question for you, but I'm hoping you'll be amenable? You see, I'm an artist, and I was wondering if I could sketch you? I've been in a bit of a funk of late, and sketching from life always helps a little with that."

Yolie had just bought a new kit -- a FLYING drone this time -- to play with. It was one she could assemble outside safely at a table, and then enjoy, and she's been nose deep in the item when she'd heard another person approach, and the girl looked up.
"Draw...?" Was the first thing she noted. Her head tilted thoughtfully and the girl hummed.
"Well, if you'd like. I might move around a bit, but I don't mind. Practice is always helpful, right?" Yolie beamed at this stranger brightly. Drawing? Not her thing. Kits? Her bag!

Das Tor
"Moving around is fine! A good artist can work around that, after all! And I try to get the gist of a pose right off the bat. Before too much movement happens." They smiled sheepishly, then held out their hand. "I'm Tor, by the way. A pleasure to meet you. And thank you! I've been drawing trees and bushes and lamps for the last hour." Landscapes were great, but she liked drawing people more. They were just...more fun.
NovaCracker
"I'm Yolanda! Yolanda Hydrus! Eeehhh, Yolie might be easier, though." And she shook her hand heartily, before showing Tor her kit.
"I'm just assembling a new drone. I like tinkering and models,so this seemed a logical step."

Das Tor
"Oh!" Tor looked at the kit curiously, tilting her head a bit to one side. "I've been thinking of getting a drone someday to take pictures from places I can't get to. Get a new perspective on things." They chuckled, settling on the bench a little bit away; close enough to still talk, but far enough to give Yolie room to work. "They're such nifty bits of tech!"
NovaCracker
"You might try the internet for a drone like that and not a hobby store or something." Yolie proposed cheerfully. "I just like making things, so kits are a natural. And I can fly this one when I finish. Do you want to learn how to fly one?" Yolie offered happily. "I'd be happy to help. I mean, it's not a living person so I'll be okay if it takes some damage if it teaches someone new!"
Das Tor
"Ah~!" The agender artist grinned at Yolie, nodding. "I would love that! I'm always up to try something new, and I have to start learning at some point!" They settled to get the tablet set up for sketching in their lap, keeping an ear to Yolie as they did so. "Though I hope I don't cause it damage!"
NovaCracker
"It's a risk." Yolie said seriously, the blonde girl nodding as she re-settled to her machine gently, bringing a portable solder out to work at wires. "But that's okay. I really don't mind. I have other drones at home."
She shifted, hands moving to inspect directions and parts, humming softly.
"And I sometimes mess up building. Not at all an expert myself, either. What media do you draw in?"

Das Tor
"Other drones? How many have you put together?" Tor was intensely curious as they started sketching, looking up now and then. Yolie seemed the sort who did a lot of projects, especially the way she talked. "Me? Oh! I tend towards digital art more, but I like traditional mediums, too. And mixing digital and traditional can create some amazing effects!" They pondered showing the other a picture of one of those melting pot pieces later. After the sketching was done.
NovaCracker
"Three drones one or two robots and several models." Yolie cheered happily. She was working very carefully, enjoying taking her time as she hummed thoughtfully. "I'd have more but I accidentally wrecked a drone or two trying some things."
Yolie hummed, tapping her chin as she thought, before motioning with flourish.
"I just like kits. I bought a building model too and sometime? I want a remote airplane kit but there's a gaggle of things I need first." Sigh.
Like paperwork.

Das Tor
"Wait. They sell kits for that?" The pink-haired artist looked up at Yolie with wide eyes. "I didn't know that was a thing you could build without figuring it all out for yourself!" Oh they had to tell Ally later. That was right up their partner's alley. "I came over here looking for an art subject, and have learned a few things in the process! I think I can call this a good day no matter what else happens!"
NovaCracker
"Yeah but it's expensive and drones are easier to learn." Yolie admitted. "One family member has a plane he designed but he's a genius so he doesn't really. Well, he counts but he can learn a little modesty." Yolie shrugged, and shifted a bit to let Tor watch her work better, humming somewhat before nodding.
"So what traditional stuff do you use?"
"So what traditional stuff do you use?"
Das Tor
"That's still pretty cool. My partner loves aviation stuff, so it might be something to look into someday." They continued sketching, tongue sticking out of the corner of their mouth. "I like colored pencils and watercolors most, but markers like Copic can be a lot of fun! I've even dabbled in sculpture a little, though I'm not at all good at it." Tor couldn't help but chuckle. "My attempts tend to look like someone butchered a decent student of the craft's extra credit project."
NovaCracker
"My step mom paints with oils or likes charcoals." Yolie admits first, looking over a bit shyly. "She draws a lot but my step-mom says a lot of -- goths? I think? -- are really artsy fartsy.." Then Yolie beams.
"And your partner might like airplane models more, remote controlled ones break really easily and take a long time to learn. The hobby store has some nice plane kits though, and some you can paint!"

Das Tor
"Oooo, those can be fun mediums! And produce some cool results!" Tor chuckled, nodding to themself at the progress of their sketch. "Most punk subcultures tend to be pretty creative. Goth's no exception! My future mother-in-law is a goth, and even though she's not all that great at art, she's still pretty crafty and makes some amazing clothes." They paused, looking up at the other. "Mmm...it depends, in all truth. Ally's pretty stubborn. I'll try to steer them towards models first."
NovaCracker
"Sounds like the relative I have! My uncle's stubborn and a bit ego." Yolie laughed gently. "Ha, he's nice though. Oh, but you can tell her it'll help her make her plane perfectly."
The young tinkerer then hummed, assembling a few parts again.
"My step mom's art is pretty nice. She prefers her books though. And my little sister from her is a goth, but she's also kind of... Vampire crazy." A face. "My step mom bought her an old copy of Dracula and she fawns all over it."

Das Tor
"I mean, Dracula is a pretty cool piece of literature. Carmillla might be another interesting one, depending on your sister's age?" They startled a bit when their phone buzzed in their pocket. The device earned a sour glare from the artist as they read the message that had set it off. "Uuuugh, I have to be going. Dad says it's trash night and he's strong arming me into helping." They gave Yolie an apologetic smile. "It was wonderful meeting you, though!"
NovaCracker
"Age? Please. Gae loves it regardless."
She watched the artist react to her phone, and frowned. So... No... Educating of her new friend on drones? Boo. Then she perked, grabbing a strip of paper and jotting her number down, handing it to Tor.
"No, I get it. Here, have my number. I'm happy to meet again, if you like." Yolie offered.

Tor took the paper with a smile, nodding. "I'll text you soon as I'm home, to complete the number exchange." They tucked the paper carefully into their bag before getting the rest of their stuff packed up. "And I'll send you what I sketched so far, so you can still see it!" It wasn't done, but dammit they had still doodled! And the model deserved to see it.
NovaCracker
"That sounds great, thank you!" Yolie said cheerfully, and nodded.
"I'll be here a while longer, but I have my phone." And she got up, hugging Tor goodbye in delight before sitting to work once more, if but a little happier. After all, she made a new friend!
