It was still January, which meant it was still the season of snow and cold and more snow and sometimes not snow but still cold... any way you looked at it, she didn't like it! And since it was the middle of winter, she had become a regular customer at one of the cafes near her house. It was new, but already quite popular, at least with those who lived in the area. Sure, it wasn't Starbucks, but she could run in and grab a hot chocolate or a tea and a pastry and be out of there quickly which was nice, especially when she was getting breakfast for the family. Today though she was by herself, having gone to it after school had gotten out, just wanting to get a tasty drink or treat before she headed home and had to work on homework and staying indoors where the heat was. Today though she decided to go with a caffeinated tea, as she was expecting to be up later than usual, since schools had been canceled for being "too cold" tomorrow. Sure, she didn't like the cold, but even she thought it was a bit weird to cancel it on the off chance it might be worse than they said it would be. But whatever, as long as they didn't miss too much school, which would mean making it up in the future... She was just about to walk down the line to get her drink when she accidentally bumped into someone! And from the liquid that she now felt pooling on her, she had spilled their drink too! "Oh my gosh I am so sorry! Are you all right? I can pay for another drink I'm sorry!" She said, trying to help whom she had bumped into. Daekie Hope that isn't too horrible of a beginning!

January was not a good month for Clementine. Most months weren't good months for her, really, because she hated the cold and she had pollen allergies and she overheated obscenely easily; sometimes the humidity in Destiny City got unbearable during the summertime, and she spent days at a time with the air conditioning unit in her room turned up as high as it could go. (Skirting her lessons and appointments wasn't so easy. Even if she was miserable, she still had to go! It was so unfair, she felt, and not at all respectful of the misery that heat brought upon her.) The cold was still miserable for her, though, which is why half the staff here knew her by look if not by name; it was on the way back from school, and the drinks were hot, and the air was warm. Or the drinks had been hot, five minutes ago; now it was just warm, which meant that the coffee spilling all down her jacket would stain but wouldn't hurt. This didn't help her cause to not burst into tears when Cynthia bumped into her. As soon as the other woman started talking, she was already sniffling, scrubbing a hand across her face to wipe away the traitorous hint of tears. "I'mfine! I'm fine. It wasn't even h-hot."

Oh s***. Cynthia thought. She had made the girl cry, and there wasn't really anything that she could do! Cynthia panicked a bit. "It's okay if you're not fine though." She said, trying to comfort the other. "I mean I was the one who bumped into you." Honestly, what was she supposed to do here? "I can buy you another one but do you want me to help with your jacket? If we run it under some cold water for a bit we can try to get some of the stains out of it." Otherwise, what could she do? Try and comfort the other? She was already doing that but even if the other was perfectly fine, then was she supposed to stand there awkwardly. She really wished a hole would just open and she could disappear inside of it. Of course she had to be clumsy today of all days and run into someone. And she didn't even have some excuse for doing so!

Clem's face was going blotchy red, but she shook her head violently; she was embarrassed enough, she didn't want apologies and reparations at the minute. A couple of deep breaths smoothed over the desire to sob. "No, no, um -- it's, um -- kind of stain-resistant? I. Really don't live that far away. So that's okay." She sighed. "I'm really -- I'm really not that upset. I swear. It would be nice if you bought me a new drink, though, that would be really nice." Everyone had bad days, but Clem wasn't sure what it was about her that apparently invited other people to involve her in their own. She got bumped into all the time. It was totally unfair!

Cynthia looked at the girl, not believing that the other was really okay, but decided not to try anymore. After all, it's not like she could really do anything. "Okay... Once again I'm so sorry." She smiled at the other when the girl said that another drink would be fine. "Sure thing! Just tell me what you want and I'll get it! Anything you want!" She said. She had the money for it, so why not? Or at least, she didn't believe that those types of drinks could get over #30. She moved over to the register, ready to pay for whatever drink the girl wanted. And Cynthia would be more careful about where she was going after all of this. It was an embarrassment for both of them, though definitely more for the poor girl that Cynthia had bumped into. Daekie Sorry Clem, you're just so easy to bump into? XD Last post from me, thanks for the rp!

"It's. Uh." She ran one hand through a pigtail and gripped onto a strand or two (or three) with a little misplaced fierceness; as soon as she'd been asked, Clementine found, her brain had suddenly purged itself of any information about the ill-fated drink that was soaking into her jacket and unfortunately nowhere near her mouth anymore. Was it also, like, so actually obvious she wasn't okay? (She was actually feeling pretty alright, really, after that initial shock and distress. Her body didn't seem to have gotten the memo.) She followed Cynthia to the register like a lost puppy, though, flushing red with embarrassment from that kind of event having to happen around all these people -- "Uhhhh. I think it was the Caramel Brulee Creme? Large. With soy instead of dairy." That sounded a little more like the way she might talk to a friend, or someone she knew (at least) in passing, rather than an utter stranger who she'd had the misfortune to be in the way of. Oh well. At least she was getting a free drink out of it, technically.
