MAIDEN NOMINATION

Welcome to the first official maiden nominations! We wanted to make sure we allowed all members to participate in this decision as it will be granting one character powers far above all others. Maidens will not have a traditional level cap, and will have their own scaling system that allows them to gain power at a much faster rate than other characters. There will be other maidens to balance this but ultimately it is an important decision and we wanted it to feel fair to all.
The other maidens will be chosen at random times in the distant future. This first maiden is kind of experimental, and the system that dictates how they work may be altered here and there so that it is more balanced. We will not necessarily do the same system to select future maidens. We might do a general election, or even a competition, but for now we will use a nomination system!
You are not required to be good or evil when you are a maiden. You can role play as you normally would. Though special missions, tasks, and privileges may be given to you, and you will likely have to fight for good or evil. We do expect you to be an active member of this guild though. Please do not make us kill your character off to transfer your powers. This is a distinct possibility. You can take vacations and not worry, we are understanding people! But, if you are gone for an extended period of time we have to keep things running smoothly.
Now, you may be asking what is a Maiden exactly? In the RWBY series the four Maidens are hosts of a vast natural power that has existed in Remnant for thousands of years. They are said to be the physical embodiment of the four seasons. There are four Maidens in existence at any time, each one corresponding to the four seasons - Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. Maidens have advanced elemental powers that are distinct from their semblances. I will go into more detail after we discuss how the first maiden will be selected!
Without further ado, let's get to it:
-Each guild member will be allowed to cast one nomination vote, and one vote only. You cannot cast more votes with multiple gaia accounts. If you are found doing this you will be banned from the guild. Your vote will be cast in this topic. Please specify the character and the gaiaonline username of its owner.
-In this topic you will be allowed to post only one time; your nomination vote. Please take chitchat to discord or the townhall topic. This will be your official vote. We will not allow you to change your nomination vote after it has been cast so please discuss it in Discord or the townhall before casting it.
-The Crew will hold a vote on the top 5 nominees. If a crew member is one of these they will be excluded from the vote. If a tie happens, and it is not between the excluded crew then we will bring them in as a tie-breaker, otherwise we will roll a die to decide.
-After the first maiden has been nominated, we will roll a die to determine what season she will represent (Summer, Fall, Winter, or Spring). This will not be made publicly known. The first maiden will reveal it to whomever they want. You will know who the person is as we will announce that, but please try your best not to meta-game. Your character may not find out in the role play for some time.
-Only one character will be considered per actual person. Meaning only your most popular character will be counted as an official nominee.
Nomination Requirements:
-Must have at least 10 posts in the guild.
-Must be in good standing (less than 2 strikes).
-The character nominated must be considered active (usually 1 post per week for the past month; we will be lenient on this one though especially due to the holidays only recently being over).
Maiden Powers & Scaling:
This is perhaps the most anticipated part of this whole article. What can a Maiden actually do? Well, below we will thoroughly discuss the bonuses a Maiden gets!
Powers -- Maidens, of all seasons, possess basic elemental manipulation for all elemental types. They can summon large fireballs, lighting strikes, windstorms, ice/water, and telekinetically move all elements. These abilities are mainly strong because they grant extreme versatility. The fireball or lightning strikes aren't one-hit kill moves, although they certainly pack a punch. Maidens can throw multiple different kinds of elemental attacks at you at one time making defense against their onslaught near impossible at times.
For now, we will keep their actual powers a secret. They will scale up over time and this system will be adjusted as we see fit. We fully expect Maidens to be difficult to balance and so it will be an ongoing project.
It is important to note that they do not get to scale their own semblance or natural abilities beyond the normal scaling though. Their semblance is distinctly separate from their maiden powers.
Summary:
1. Maidens have basic elemental manipulation of all elements.
2. Maiden's have a max level of 11 (1,100 posts).
3. Maiden's have scaling powers that will be made public at a later time.
Succession
The powers of the Maidens pass from host to host upon the death of the current holder in a process that has been continuing for thousands of years. The exact method through which the power chooses its next host is not fully understood. Under normal circumstances, the next Maiden, who is always a young woman, is the last person that the previous Maiden holds in her thoughts before she passes away. However, if the person in the dying Maiden's thoughts is male, too old, or not eligible to receive the power, the next host is chosen seemingly at random. This system apparently ensures that no one person can hold the power forever. When one of our maiden's is killed off the crew will decide who the powers go to. We will make sure it logically works the way the show designed it to be. We will allow all members to make their own arguments as to where they think the powers should go, but the crew will vote to decide ultimately.
As you know, we don't allow people to actually kill another character without crew approval, or the approval of the person whose character is going to be killed. Nobody likes having their main character killed off. When it comes to Maidens we have to be more willing to let them die. We still won't let them be killed off easily, but a hidden system will be place to make their death slightly more likely than an average player. Meaning you have to play carefully if you are going to be a maiden. If you run into a fight where you are swarmed by enemies the crew might just rule in favor of your death. Yes, you have a greater chance at death than a normal member. Play smart.
With that, let's get started on the nominations! Discuss in discord who you want to nominate. Its best to talk to the person who owns a character you wish to nominate to make sure they will accept the nominations because someone can always refuse nomination If that happens we will let you recast your vote, but try to clear this ahead of time. Just keep in mind you cannot nominate one of your own characters. You can try to advertise in discord that you want one of your characters to be the Maiden, but there is no gaurantee anyone will nominate you. Its a character popularity contest ultimately.
