There's only one way you ended up here. Something happened to you.

While there is no mark on your body from what caused you to be here, you still remember the pain of how you died.

You wake up in an open grave.

It's perpetually near dusk. The air is still and quiet. No voice speaks to you here.

gaia_crown WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: THE MECHANICS

Quote:
gaia_star From here:

  • The only way to come here is by having a character's HP reach 0. The Cemetery is not accessible any other way
  • When your character died, their body dissipated and reformed in one of the many graves here
  • The tombstone inscription above your character can say anything you want. Only your character can see it, though! If anyone else were to look, all they would see is a blank stone
  • Post a reaction. Once your character climbs out of the grave, the gate at the end glows, and you're allowed to leave
  • If you died in the middle of a trial, you have to start over completely (the only exemption to this rule is for the Sky Trial)

  • This is like a truck stop. Your HP is fully restored, and you can leave! You head back to the Central Hub, and then can go to any trial from there. If you die again...well. You'll come back here. But then you can leave again
  • You're free to stay and wander, but nothing exists outside the iron fence

  • Your character can not be in multiple threads at once. Thus, when moving your character from thread to thread after completing objectives, please tag the top of your posts with [ (character name) is ENTERING ] when going into a thread, and tag the bottom of your posts with [ (character name) is EXITING ] when leaving any thread so that people know!
  • If you're interacting with another player, common courtesy is to give them 24 hours from when you posted to respond. If the player does not reply to you in 24 hours, please feel free to move on! This isn't to be rude, but to be fair to everyone to let them experience as much as the event as possible and to not hold anyone up
  • Mauvians! If you have a human form unlocked, you are free to use it!

gaia_star Battling

  • Yeah, you know it. You're free to attack anyone in any thread. Friendly fire is also turned on, so you're free to attack anyone on the same side as you if you're thirsty for a fight
  • Fighting will be done through dice rolling to keep it fair. Please use the corresponding stats for your character's appropriate level:

    Civilians
    HP: 10 / 10
Dice: 1d6 (total is the amount of damage you do)

Basics / Lieutenants / Mauvians (cat form)
    HP: 20 / 20
    Dice: 1d8

Supers / Captains / Mauvians (human form)
    HP: 30 / 30
    Dice: 1d10

    Eternals / Generals
    HP: 40 / 40
    Dice: 1d12

  • Please don't be mean and rude and gang up on another player, unless it's discussed before hand for suffering reasons. Nyx or myself will step in otherwise
  • Your HP carries over to any thread you go to, which could put you at a disadvantage when tackling prompts! Consequences, right?
  • If at any point your HP reaches 0...you die here and then reform in another grave

ACUBENS is ENTERING

Acubens screamed herself awake, and half expected to be in her bed. However, instead of finding herself tangled in her own sheets or sleeping peacefully next to Lavender, she saw only black. Panic struck her again as she wondered in, vaguely, she hadn't gone blind in the night. But then the scent of soil reached her nose and realization dawned on her like a slow sunrise.

She wasn't blind.

She was buried.

Or partially, as Acubens realized that she was looking up into a dark sky. An open grave was where she had awakened. Panic mingled with rage as she climbed from the grave, assisted by her magic, and made her way for the glowing gate.

Next time, no more bottles.

MEISSA IS ENTERING

Slowly awareness came back to the Senshi of Bobcats. Relief flooded through her as she saw that she was back to normal size. However that relief was short lived when she recalled her last remembered moment. A giant ship was going to crush her. As that memory rocketed through her mind the girl struggled to sit upright. Loose dirt slid down her arms as eyes narrowed in suspicion before reality caught up with her.

Oh gods. She was sitting in an open grave partially buried. Not a whole lot of dirt but just enough to be considered the point beyond normal. The texture and feel was unlike sand one could be buried by at the beach and she uttered a harsh , yet frightened, scream before falling silent. It wasn't like anyone else could hear her. Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath Meissa struggled to control her breathing before pushing the dirt that was covering her legs to the side.

That task finished the teen coughed weakly before sitting upright and bringing her knees to her chest. She had to get her emotions under control. She couldn't have really died otherwise she'd not be experiencing whatever this freaky s**t was. But yet ... there was a grave and she was sitting in it, so what gave?

Sitting wasn't going to do her any good. She had to get back to that weird bottle dimension and continue looking for Moira. Then they could do something to help the trials be completed ... at least that was her fervent hope. No more being crushed by large ships for Meissa. Reaching level ground the teen paused to look around at the graveyard before shivering once. No one had walked over her grave ... but she had climbed out of it. She was not looking forward to repeating the journey either.

Instead of dwelling too much on the negative aspects of this strange realm in which she found herself Meissa instead continued to shake the dirt from her fuku and out of any place that she wouldn't want dirt to remain before turning around to actually get a sense of direction in which she would need to travel to get out of here. The sight of a tombstone sitting innocuously at the foot of the grave had the teen pausing to read what was inscribed before tutting softly. This wasn't real, but it felt real. The sand in unmentionable parts attested to that. But she was a senshi, a magical girl tasked with saving the world from evil. This realm in which she found herself surely qualified as such but it was the main hub that she needed to get back to. Just the act of thinking about that strange place brought to her attention a glowing arch in which she felt drawn to. If that was the way to go then she'd gladly take the hinted approach. With nimble grace she jumped out of the grave in which she had found herself in before running to the glowing arch and passing through.

MOIRA is ENTERING

The instant of pain before her death lingered in Moira's bones as a phantom sensation as she woke. It wasn't real, and somewhere in her mind, Moira knew that, but that didn't stop the cry of fear which had been truncated in life spring from her lips now as her eyes flew open. Fear rattled her whole body, sending her into violent convulsions and Moira was certain that this was the end. She had been crushed by the ship before and what she was experiencing now was death.

Moira was dying.

And she would never see her brother Max again. She would never see her mother. Worse, they would probably never know what happened to her. They wouldn't have a body to visit when the buried her. Nothing to make offerings too and speak to when the night was long and dark and unforgiving. Moira had died alone and afraid in a strange place surrounded by strange people.

For all her worship, what had earned her that fate?

The moon above her was passive and silent, as it always was, but now Moira felt a cold chill run through her as she gazed at it. Had the Goddess... abandoned her? And she left Moira? And if so, why? Had Moira not been a devoted witch, mapping her life by the cycle of the moon? Had Moira done something wrong and not known it? But what could have been so heinously wrong that she deserved death?

As she pondered her fate, however, the ghostly pain receded and her body stopped shaking. She lay in her own grave, silently waiting for the final kiss of death, for a few moments longer. But it never came. Slowly, almost unsurely, Moira rose to her feet and peeked out from the lip of the hole she'd awoken in. No one was around. No groundskeepers, no mourners, not even a stray cat.

So those were the rules then? You die and you come here, restored and alive? The thought sent another wave of shivers down her spine. Moira would ponder the meaning of this later. For now, she hauled herself out of her own grave and dashed back through the gate.

She needed to find Meissa.

Eurydike - Entering

Laying there, staring up into the sky from the depths of an open grave, Eurydike idly wondered to himself if being crushed to death by a goddamn literal boat would make the weight of being crushed by ******** guilt any easier to cope with. Probably not. Different strokes, he guessed.

He knew he could get up if he tried. He knew he'd have to eventually. Was it really that ******** to just... lay there for a minute? It was peaceful there. Quiet. He couldn't very well ******** anything up from here, and somehow the idea of laying in a goddamn hole in the ground was an easier pill to swallow than floating in the midst of a sea of bottles.

Did time pass differently here? - faster or slower? - did it really matter how time passed when you were dead? - if they fixed s**t and saved the day while he was here, was this where he'd stay? Was he even really here at all?

This really the time for an existential crisis, ******** not. He sighed and somewhat begrudgingly sat up, shaking dirt out of his hair. If his mom didn't get to rest in peace, why the ******** should he? She'd earned the rest; he hadn't. Simple as that.

Besides, all the ******** melodrama aside, he knew he had people waiting for him out there. Important people. He wanted to tell himself there was a reason he hadn't died yet, but it was frankly dumb luck, just like it was dumb luck that'd gotten him killed this time.

Kind of. He was alive, wasn't he?

Eurydike pulled himself out of the grave, and unfortunately, he made the mistake of glancing over his shoulder at the tombstone.

See you soon.

He stared at it for a long moment, and wasn't sure what to do with that, contemplation etched heavy across his face. Then, abruptly, it changed to annoyance. He lashed out with a snarl, kicking the tombstone over and promptly flipping it off before he stormed off. <******** that.

[Pendour is ENTERING]

She didn't understand. There was pain written in her mind but not her body, shocking her awake. She gasped for air. Her pulse was still going almost as fast as a rabbitheart. Dirt fell in her mouth, and she sat up stick straight, coughing and shaking the it off of her, out of her braid and her clothes.

Clothes? She held up a gloved hand and saw that her fingers had returned. She wiggled her toes in her shoes. Ten fingers, ten toes, one eye. As there as she was going to be. Airways clear, and with enough light to know that she could still see, she took a few deep breaths. There was something about the smell of soil that always made her calmer. Out here, there was something odd about it, something cold that did not promise growth. Still, she would take it. She slipped a glove off and took a handful of soil, letting it run through her fingers. Then, she looked around.

There was a tombstone, she saw. A grave, and a cold one at that. The realization sent a shiver down Pendour's spine as at last the pieces came together. That moment of terrible crushing had been death.

She wasn't afraid of death, not in the way a lot of people were. She'd had her share of times staring it in the face through the course of her life, more frequently since becoming a knight, and knowing that soon enough it would walk off with her, but it was still a crushing weight, thinking about it, worse than the falling ship. Her family, for one thing. Her friends. They wouldn't know, wouldn't even have the small comfort of a corpse found in an alleyway for them to bury and cry over. She didn't like that part of it.

Still, there wasn't much she could do about that, and though the thought stayed heavy in the back of her mind, she stood and looked around. This was a strange entrance to the afterlife, she thought, and as she crawled from the grave, she saw a light from the gate and little else. The next step, then. Walking over to it, the graveyard faded and she was once again in the bottle land.

Oh.

[ Genbu ]

The stars looked amazing here. Her view was a little closed in, but the view she opened her eyes too was beautiful, surreal. The stars never looked like this in the city, there was just too much light pollution to see anything but the brightest, and even then, you had to be somewhere like a park, or in one of the more suburban neighborhoods.

Park..

She remembered being in a park, but she hadn't been alone at the time, had she? No, no. Seiryuu had been patrolling with her, and then they'd seen something alarming that had needed checking out and they'd headed in. Eurydike was there, he'd yelled at them, grumpy a**...

And then they'd been swept inside a bottle, a boat had crashed down on top of them, Genbu had grabbed Seiryuu and pulled her away from that danger and into a place filled with death. Only to turn around and get herself...crushed.

"Oh, yeah..." What a stupid way to die.

She sighed as she thought about poor Seiryuu, about her having to witness that, after just having seen her cousin die.

"Wait a minute." Dark brows creased as she sat up. "If he died, how is he in that damn tunnel with her now?" Either that wasn't the real him, which...she didn't even want to think about. OR, the more promising option, there was a way back and she just needed to figure out how to find it. "And if Eurydike can do it, then I sure as ******** can."

Determined now the senshi pushed herself up to her feet and reached up to brace her hands on either side of the grave she'd woken up in. A little hop, a little push, and she managed to drag herself back out of the ground. It was a graveyard she found herself in, tombstones and open holes in the ground as far as she could see, and the glimpse of marble at the top of the grave she'd pulled herself out from was tempting to look back at, but if it had her name on it she really didn't want to see that. It could remain a mystery.

Brushing dirt off her fuku she stalked off towards a path and a glowing gate beyond. "Just hang on, baby. I'm comin'."

Scamander Page of Jupiter - [ entering ]
INVENTORY: x1 health potion (+10 HP)

He kind of disliked the idea that he had died, though he was far less upset or shocked about it than he probably should have been.

Scamander lay in the grave and stared up at the tombstone above him with a mixture of resignation, curiosity, and possibly a little irritation. He thought this must be a trick of sorts; he didn't feel dead, after all, and he was still thinking and breathing, which meant that he could still think and breathe.

Maybe. Unless he was just imagining that.

Overall, he thought, this wasn't so bad. He wasn't really in any pain or discomfort, other than the fact that he was lying in a grave. It wasn't by any means ideal to be down here, but he thought it might be better than getting stabbed or drowning or any other possible terrible way that one might die, especially because stabbing and drowning were mundane compared to the more gruesome situations.

Scamander mulled over this for a few minutes, then decided he would see what would happen if he got up.

Pushing himself into a sitting position, he reached out with both hands, pressing them against the dirt wall, fingers digging in. He was used to the feel of dirt; it was familiar to him in the way that sleeping was familiar; he could almost smell the mulch that he used when he gardened, or see the small green shoots pushing out of the ground in the spring.

He lifted himself entirely up and crawled somewhat ungracefully out of the pit. It wasn't that deep - standard grave size, Scamander thought, but he dusted off his hands and then looked around, squinting until he saw the glowing gate just at the edge of the cemetery.

"Aha," he murmured to himself, and ambled over.

[General Zircon is ENTERING]

The first time Zircon had died, it had been to the white-hot immolation of a Royal Knight's purifying energy. The second time, it had been stabbed in the back by a friend, left to bled out in a gazebo far from home. Both instances had been strong enough sensations to mask what it was to truly die, like airplane engines snuffing out the ability to make out someone's whisper.

To simply die wasn't loud or cacophonous--it was a sudden, yawning absence, a room full of conversation that all at once went still.

Zircon woke in a pit somewhere, smelling dirt and petrichor. She opened her eyes slowly, not quite like waking from a dream but closer to the sudden shift in motion from a rough teleportation, one that had somehow lasted too long. She breathed and checked her heartbeat and found a pulse, and then she wasted no time pulling herself free of the shallow grave, paying only a passing glance to the headstone before tearing her gaze away.

It read, Zircon, Who Died As She Lived--Being A Disappointment.

She cast her gaze forward instead, to the glow of the wrought iron gates, and scowling she climbed free and made for the exit. Zircon was done with these games; she had subordinates to rescue.

[Ella Barnett is ENTERING.]

It felt like the first hit of oxygen--Ella couldn't see, couldn't feel, and then suddenly she could, and she sucked in a wheeze of an inhale as she clutched at her chest, where only moments before her lungs had been burning. She lunged upright, touching her hair, her face, her jacket, but there was none of the dust from the catacombs, no lingering burning smell in her nose and throat, but her nerves still rang in the aftermath, like they'd been a part of her for so long that she now noticed fresh, clean air.

Well. It was kind of dirt air. But it was dirt for earthworms and plants, not people dust. Ella could live with that.

Well...could she? Didn't she die? Ella inspected her hands, which didn't look particularly ghosty, and she touched her cheeks, which still felt warm and alive. But just a moment ago, she'd been so cold, and in such pain, nothing like hospital numbness and meters and tubes, surrounded by friends and families and balloons that would have looked cheerful if not for the way the lighting leeched the color out of everything. That's where she'd supposed to go, and she didn't, so now she was out wandering around in skeleton basements, where she died. But she got better? Or maybe you just didn't feel dead in the afterlife, because it was an after-life.

She wanted to text Reid and her family and say goodbye, but there was no signal in the bottom of her ditch. 'RIP Ella :,C', she wrote in her notes instead, leaning against a dirt wall and tabbing through all of the apps on her phone that didn't work without wifi. It wasn't so bad being dead, she thought to herself, except that it felt kind of lonely and she had no chance for closure and she'd totally blown it on New Year's Eve when she'd fallen asleep instead of staying up until midnight to get kissed.

No more New Year's to make up for this mistake. Bad. No more homework. Good. No more battery life? Way bad.

Ella whined when she got the low battery notification on her phone, then took that as an opportunity to wiggle her way free of a shallow grave, rolling up to seated on the grass. It was only then that she realized that there was some sort of glowing exit, a place to go that wasn't here, and with nothing better to do she wandered towards the gates, sliding her phone in her pocket.

She hoped the afterlife had android chargers.

[ Cheomseongdae is ENTERING ]

Cheom was too shocked from the pain of the ship landing on her to scream, and then she was staring up at the sky as her body reformed, stunned to find herself alive... Stunned, but relieved, at least, that she would not have to leave behind her friends and what little family she had to wonder what had happened to her. She took several deep breaths, amazed that she had lungs to do so, then slowly sat up.

She looked around, and saw above her head a gravestone that read 'She died as she lived... Putting others before her own pain." The words made her half wince, half roll her eyes, and she stood up, slowly but surely, and hauled herself out of the uncovered grave... Grateful that it WAS uncovered and she did not have to dig herself out of six feet of dirt.

She dusted everything off of her body, once she was out, and ran for the gate, trying to get back to where she had been before that DAMN SHIP fell on her. She made it through, and was sent back.

[Allegra Marchesi is ENTERING]
Allegra had no time to process anything other then the sudden realization of SOMETHING LARGE, then pain... Then she was laying on her back, staring at the sky. She did not move for a long moment, as she stared upwards, her expression blank with disbelief. That had been a boat. A BOAT had literally fallen out of the sky and landed on her. She had... She should have died. Did she die? But she seemed to be alive.

She sat up, looked around... and let out her second scream of the night, as she realized she was sitting in a grave. She was in a ******** grave! She took several deep, panting breaths, and hauled herself upwards, getting to her feet. She looked up at the top, shuddering at the horror that was working over herself, trying to find a good place to get out from...

In the process, she saw the stone, which read "Here Lies Allegra Marchesi. She could not hide from the Hard truths, in the end."

She shuddered even harder, and turned to the sides of the grave, trying to pretend the stone was not there, and braced her back against one wall, and used the other to climb up with her feet. It was slow, and messy as ********, but she finally got up, and out of the grave.

She tried to get herself cleaned off, but it was impossible at this time... She was FILTHY. She shuddered again, and ran from the grave, heading straight for the gate.

[[Corrupt Sailor Mab Entering]

One minute she'd been in some weird dimension disoriented and kind of wondering where the annoying Versaille had gone - he wasn't exactly her type, but even bad company was better than no company in certain unsavory circumstances - and then a giant goddamn ship had just up and fallen out of the...

...sky? Could that even have been called a sky? Maybe inasmuch as it was geographically 'above' Mab's head it was a 'sky'.

Details about the exact nomenclature of the air-space the ship had fallen from were irrelevant, the important part was that it had crashed down on her. It had crushed her like a bug, like so much nothing.

I died. I literally died. Oh my god. Where the hell am I? Why can't I see anything!?!?! Mab's fingers twitched, gripping at-- dirt? She blinked.

Wait. Oh.

Her eyes had been closed. Duh. Opening them allowed her to see her surroundings: she was in a deep pit. A lightweight wooden ladder leaned up against one side - if she pointed her toes she'd touch it, maybe knock it over. Just to the right of her hand, a bell. Was she supposed to ring it? "What the hell is this?" A deep dirt hole. A bell...oh my god. I'm in a grave.

Mab gave a little shriek and sat up, scrambling back until his back hit the crumbling wall of the freshly dug grave. In that moment, he wasn't Mab senshi of spindles, he was simply Shea - terrified by the knowledge that he'd died and been put in a grave. The costume wrapped around him, the magic held within his breast - none of it mattered. "Sweet undulating Christ." Above his head, the sound of other victim's dismay could be heard - it snapped the senshi out of a frozen, shocked state (although her fingers still twitched against her thigh as she tried in vain to wipe the grave dirt from her palms).

"O-okay. Time t-to go." Mab got to her feet and hurried scaled the ladder. Once topside, she felt much calmer and was able to assess the damage done to her costume by the crash and subsequent dirt-nap. She pulled her compact back out from subspace and took at look at her face and hair, gasping with dismay and stomping her foot angrily. "Oh my god! This is the worst!"

"There is DIRT in my HAIR! How DARE this godawful place do something like this! Are we ******** ANIMALS or something? Why!? Is there lnothing bloody sacred to you tossers? Bloody rotting AMERICANS, my ******** Christ." Shea - Mab - was roaring: a full blown fit of anger being expressed against the large stone gravestone that read her own senshi name. After destroying it Mab felt better and was able to sit atop the rubble and take out her stowed kit to fix hair and makeup properly before packing up to head to the exit to try the whole rigmarole once more.

"There. That's better."

With a strut that belonged on a stage, Mab went forth to conquer.
