Quote: Walking home one night, you happen to come across a rather cozy looking holiday pop-up store. Sweet and wonderful smells waft out from its doors, and once you step inside, you find a rather jolly looking man in a snowman costume handing out free samples of what he would like to call “Frosty Frappes”.
It seems trustworthy enough, as there are multiple people already happily sipping away at their drinks at nearby tables and you decide that you’ll take one and go about your way.
It’s sweet and cinnamony with just a hint of something cold. Mint? Ginger? Well, whatever it is, your body feels cooler, and there’s an itch in the back of your throat. You clear your throat, and first it comes out normal… Then you find yourself humming, then whistling… And finally, you can’t stop, every word you say comes out in song. No matter how hard you try, your thoughts come out in song as if you were born to sing! An hour passes, and soon enough singing dies down and you can talk normally once again. For the next week or so though, you find yourself humming or singing softly to yourself while doing mundane tasks. Luckily for you, it also seems like you can hit the notes for now!
All that was left was to find something for Alexei... You would think he would have figured out something for the most important man in his life right away, but Alexei was a picky man, in a way. There wasn't anything the Judge couldn't afford, so the range that Shiloh could really get or give was actually very small... Now that he thought about it, there were very few things that he could think that Alexei like.
Coffee was a given... And he liked Shiloh... And working... He was surprisingly simple in a way too.
So Coffee it was! The young man was always on the lookout to find something new for Alexei to try, since that meant he just added onto something the Judge already loved.. And on his way home, he happened to stop by a place he had never seen before... Some sort of Snowman themed coffee shop... It seemed only a little sketch, and honestly, with how odd things could be in Destiny City, he should have been incredibly weary and not trust the crowd's opinion... You never know who could be possessed!
And yet he still went in, drawn towards the shop by those sweet scents and the warmth that radiated off of it. Before he realized it, he was leaving the shop with two bags of already ground coffee and a cold cup of their special frappe. While Alexei didn't really like super sweet, super milky drinks, the smell alone felt like a win to Shiloh!
It felt like it took no time at all for the bus to get him home, even the frappe didn't even start melting! Then again, it was very very cold outside so it would have had no time at all to melt... And luckily, the lights were already on in the house, meaning his love was home early... Well, no matter, better to give a gift like this sooner rather than later. He entered into the house, quickly putting his other gifts to the side, then began to take his coat off.
"Alexei, I'm home! I have this coffee drink I'd like you to try, if you'd like!" The actual ground coffee was put off in a cabinet, hopefully sneakily enough for the judge not to see.

The threat of an encroaching snowstorm had sent most of the office home early. Alexei had not been particularly concerned with snow but he was concerned with the constant poking and prodding the others in the building had been giving him. He left work early just to get some work done. He didn't care about their holiday plans, about their families visiting, about what they got their children.
He wanted to work.
Initially, he was surprised to find that Shiloh wasn't home but he was not necessarily bound to the house and had the freedom to come and go as he pleased. It just meant more solitude for Alexei to work.
He had only been home for half an hour or so before he heard Shiloh call out. Alexei had removed his jacket, his tie; he was still in his slacks and work shirt but had exchanged his shoes for slippers and paced around the house as he cradled paperwork in his arm, scouring it for a detail he might have missed while in the office.
"I'm in here," he replied; he was in the living room, keeping near to the fireplace. There were fresh logs and a warm glow radiating throughout the room. The heat was on in the house but there was just something charming about how the fire seemed to heat up the room and give it a far more welcoming presence. Sometimes, the house was just creepy.
Sometimes, it felt like home.

After the outer layers were shed and hung up neatly by the door, Shiloh took his little surprise to the living room, where he heard Alexei call to him.
... And of course he was working. He almost certainly was if he happened to be home alone. It didn’t bother Shiloh in the least. In fact, it seemed more inspiring than not, to be so thoroughly dedicated to their task and taking pride in it. He could only hope to one day find something he loved doing as much as Alexei did his own work.
“You’re surprisingly early, though I suppose I could expect it with the weather... I’m happy you decided to come home...” As much as he loved this home, there were times when the silence got to him a bit too much. His heart began to ache when left alone too long, and a panic began to settle in his chest.... Some fears were still hard to over come when alone, but with Alexei, they were the furthest thing from his mind.
“I brought you something. It may be too sweet, but I do hope you’ll try it.” Once he pressed his greeting kiss to Alexei’s cheek, Shiloh offered the cup to him, “There was this new shop that I found in the city, with all sorts of coffee flavors. They said this was their biggest hit, but.... It’s not simply black coffee. If you don’t like it, it’s alright...”

Alexei accepted the kiss by offering his cheek even as he finished skimming the last line on the paper. It was a good place to stop and he looked up from it only then. “Oh? I suppose I’ll try something new.”
He wasn’t a fan of sweets and the biggest draw of most coffee shops was their ability to make coffee taste like candy. But, it could have been the sweetest, most disgusting thing in the city, and he’d have drank every last drop if it meant ensuring he didn’t make Shiloh feel bad. “I’d have stayed at work to finish up this project but everyone’s got the Holiday jitters, I suppose. They’re all so chatty. I’ve gotten more done in the half hour I’ve been home--including the drive it took me to get here--than I did all morning. I should work out of the house more often,” he mused, but there was something a bit charming about his desk that made it so hard to leave.
He had accepted the cup and raised it to his nose, inhaling the fragrance curiously. “Mm. I suppose I can see why it’s popular. It might make a nice candle smell.”
Ordinarily he might have been paranoid about poison or something ridiculous, but he trusted Shiloh and the secrecy at which they carried out their relationship ensured he was generally safe from whatever fears Alexei might have for anyone too closely associated with him.
He took a sip, rolled the flavor in his mouth as if it were some fine wine, and then swallowed. At the very least, it was warm; it wasn’t an unpleasant flavor but it was certainly not something he would have tried to replicate in his own home. He kissed Shiloh’s forehead fondly and took another sip. “Did you have fun out there? If the weather gets as bad as everyone says, you may be cooped up in here with me for a few days.”

"... Candle smell? Hm, I suppose you are right. It would be a pleasant smell to have about the house." Although he smiled, it certainly made him nervous to hear that. It was supposed to be a drink, not a decoration piece! His stomach did an odd flip, guilty that he had chosen wrong, but not saying it out loud.
"I.. I did, yes... The crowds weren't too dense... And I managed to get everything I needed. I think I would truly be very happy to have those days with only you. Then I would say the snow storm would be a blessing in disguise... Though perhaps I should go back out and shop some more for groceries, just in case."

Alexei hardly seemed concerned with the sweet fragrance but he just shook his head. "No, I think we have plenty of groceries. I picked up a few more just the other day, and I know you were out shopping not too long before that. I can't imagine we'll be without resources for too long. Besides, if the power goes out..."
He hummed quietly to himself and took another sip of the drink, this time surprised by how much the sugary flavor was growing on him. He wasn't typically a fan of sweets but something about this wasn't as awful as he'd first feared. Never one to express his feelings too purely, he just nodded approvingly and helped himself to another sip. When he swallowed, he allowed a moment for the flavor to settle. "--Well. I was going to say that it might spoil in the fridge, but the truth is, if the power goes out the house will just get frigid. We should concern ourselves more so with having enough firewood."
They did, though--and even if they didn't, he had a generator and a small heater they could curl up by. He wasn't worried either way.

"Hmm... I suppose you're right. Speaking of which, I should go something started... Ah, but first." Shiloh took a few steps forward, leaning up to press a soft, lingering kiss to his lover's cheek.
"It was a night much like tonight that I remember waiting for you to come home. The night I confessed... Hehe, it's a little embarrassing to think about, but I can't imagine a day I felt happier. Not that I mean that I haven't been happy since, but knowing I was loved... That's certainly something I know I'll never forget." As if a switch turned on, he pulled away, suddenly thinking about the firewood.
"A-ah, but anyway, I'll go check the stores for the wood. We'll be fine, but no harm in checking, yes?"

Alexei seemed a little amused, reaching out to grip his hand and draw him back to him. "We have enough firewood," he said, kissing Shiloh's cheek. "So don't go anywhere."
He held the coffee in one hand but seemed more focused on holding Shiloh's hand. He gave it a reassuring squeeze. It was never easy to tell what Alexei was thinking or feeling, but there were moments of tenderness that he seemed inclined to share with Shiloh.
Now was one of them.
He seemed somewhat absentminded as he moved closer, humming in thought. Only, it sounded a bit more musical than anything he'd ever uttered before. "I'm proud of you for confessing. I like your confidence, your boldness."
And his softness, and shyness. But the bursts of confidence, the moments when Shiloh worked up the nerve to do something, say something important? Alexei treasured those.

"Alright... I won't then." How could he refuse such tenderness... Instead, he moved his free arm to hold Alexei better, pressing their bodies closer.
When the man spoke again, it was.... Well, what better word could be used than 'magical'? Because it most certainly was soft and lovely, like a sweet bird singing a song.
.... How strange.
"Boldness you say...? Should I perhaps think of being more bold...? If you are willing, I... Would love to hold you even closer... Perhaps after dinner, but... Now would be wonderful too."

Alexei exhaled, and even that sounded almost musical. There was an airiness to his voice, like he just couldn't keep a tune out of his words. There wasn't any specific song he was mimicking, it just seemed to come out naturally--he didn't even seem to realize that the words he spoke came out it song.
All he knew was that there was a little tickle in the back of his throat. "I think you should be yourself. I think I'll love you however you are. But your boldness is attractive."
He moved closer, wrapping his arms around Shiloh and in the same, soft, musical voice he said, "I like you in my arms. I like knowing you're safe."

As much as Shiloh wanted to keep ignoring it, and enjoying just how close Alexei was, there was a whole new level of flusteredness that was creeping up his skin. In its wake was a very clear blush that crossed his cheeks, starting where he felt that breathy, hot breath against his skin.
"A-Alexei.. Are... Are you singing? It's... well, it's very..." How could he put this, plainly...? He had been bold before, so perhaps like that. "It's... Strange... B-but very sexy. I very much like it..."

Alexei hummed thoughtfully, like he wasn't quite sure what to make of the noises coming from his own throat. He considered it and, while it wasn't like him at all, it didn't seem that he could help himself.
He felt younger, lighter. A bit mischievous. It wasn't a feeling he was granted often and it didn't seem as if he intended to waste it.
Still, he sang softly to Shiloh when he spoke. He brushed a thumb across his cheek, "Perhaps. But some things just sound better in song. Like," his voice was more tender, with the same deep allure, "'I love you'."

"A-alexei..." That did it. Shiloh almost felt his legs buckle under him, and to steady himself, he grasped his lover's shirt in his hands.
"I love you too... I truly do... Deeply, and... And Forever..." From there, he leaned in, closing the gap between their lips, and kissing him deeply. He wanted Alexei to pick him up, push him against the wall, ravish him as much as he wanted. But how could he manage to say anything of the sort? All he could bring himself to do was to press his hips closer to Alexei's, and hope that the meaning could be grasped. Or atleast felt.

"I know," he said, voice low and pleasant. His arms locked around his waist and he rubbed his back tenderly. "And I love you too. Truly," he enunciated each word, humming softly between them, "Deeply. And Forever."
He pressed his lips to Shiloh's, kissing him softly and humming in tune with his words.
"Let me take you upstairs. You're feeling a bit cold. We should warm up."

How could someone truly be this charming? Or handsome? Or make Shiloh feel like putty in his hands?
Nothing could compare to this bliss he was feeling while wrapped safely in his lover's arms.
"Will you carry me then...? Your voice, that singing... My legs have already become weak from it all... And I crave more from you... So the sooner we make it upstairs, the better."
