Fresh snow has fallen over Destiny City for the third time this week; most people seem to have stayed inside today due to a particularly heavy flurry, but you find yourself outside tonight for some reason. The weather has faded, revealing a sparkling night sky. Much of the ground is covered in a crisp layer of snow--but more than that, beautiful flowers in the shape of snowflakes have sprouted in the ground. They grow in small patches and permeate a pleasant, sweet fragrance. If the flowers are not kept in freezing temperatures, they melt, but for the duration of their lifespan they are beautiful, fragile things. In such a busy metropolis, isn't it nice to take a moment to take a moment and appreciate nature? Even if there does seem to be something a little magical about this?
Del had considered taking tonight and going to the goth club to dance out her various aggressions. After all, if one had to go out into a snow storm, but better counter to all the cold and yuck than grinding away the night at the club? But that had been before she saw the clear, star-filled sky and the beautiful little snowflake flowers dotting the ground. Ever armed with her trusty camera, Del was already clicking away, trying to capture the prettiest parts of the sky before turning her attention to the little flowers.
Kneeling in the snow and ignoring how damp her knees were becoming, she got as close as possible to one patch of the flowers, trying to figure out if they were real or not. She’d never in her life seen or heard of flowers like this. Yet the fragrance wasn’t… unnatural. It was quite pleasant, actually. And it lacked the chemical component that most store bought scents had. And then, if these were fake, how one earth had whoever set them up managed it without being spotted? So if these were real…
No, she wouldn’t let herself finish the thought. Of course she knew magic existed in the world, but these flowers were too whimsical and well... innocent. There was no way that they were a part of the magic world she was familiar with. Still, she couldn’t help but feel a little wonder as she carefully snapped as many pictures as possible of the flowers. She wouldn’t try to pick them, that seemed wrong somehow, but she still wanted a way to capture this moment and memory for later. If only to prove she wasn’t crazy to her fellow goths, because, holy ******** yes, she was telling people about this.
Even as she took a few more pictures, she wondered if she might not be able to pick one and keep it. Would it really hurt anything? After a moment’s hard thinking, Del decided that it wouldn’t. She’d only pick a single flower and she’d be careful to not hurt the rest of them as she did so. Examining each little patch carefully, she found one that looked like a single flower would be easy to take. Kneeling, she reached out to touch the fragile little things gently and carefully felt for a stem. Smiling a little as it was located, she slid her fingers slightly to get a better grip and plucked the little flower. Holding the delicate little thing up to the light, Del marveled at how pretty the flower was. Cradling it carefully in her gloved hands, she raced for the club, intent on showing this tiny holiday miracle off to her friends.
Soon enough, the club was in view and she could see a few goths out smoking and looking like big, poofy ravens. Before calling out to them, she glanced down at her hand, shocked and saddened to see that her little snow flower had melted away to little more than a few droplets of water in her hands. Biting back a cry of disappointment, Del slowed down and actually turned away from her destination. Somehow, she didn’t much feel like clubbing now. Besides, she had pictures to develop now.
