Sprigs of mistletoe dangle from various spots around the carnival and it becomes abundantly clear that most people are taking advantage of the fun holiday tradition, be it a cute peck on the cheek or an opportunity for some gross PDA. You happen to notice a crush or loved one standing under one of the sprigs and on a whim, you decide to adhere to timeless tradition and give them a kiss (even if it means mustering up your courage and getting over your shyness to make it happen). When you open your eyes, you soon realize... that wasn't your crush/loved one at all, but a total stranger! Oh no!
Theodore had snuck into the carnival for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, he had done so because there would be several opportunities to observe the everyday man (or woman) when under going unusual festivities and he hadn't been people watching in so long. Secondly, he was there because he was certain that he could swipe a gift or two to tote home with him when he headed back to his mistress. And, thirdly, the chances of being able to snack on delightful carnival food would be absolutely, unequivocally wonderful.
Which was exactly how he'd come to find himself perched upon a stack of crates along side one of the entryways, sprigs of mistletoe hanging dangerously close to right above him, with his tail curled around pink paws. He was not wearing his hat, but he was wearing his candy cane striped bowtie and it earned him several cooes and aws from passerby's.
He had learned his lesson at the last event he'd attended. His hat was too precious of a thing to risk losing and having trampled because people often made fools of themselves when events like this came with alcohol and he was above that sort of behavior, thank you very much.
