In spite of the cold, Chariklo was sitting had staked out of perch in a ground level parking garage where she could sit on the railings and still see the city. It was impractical and hardly a place to conduct a patrol from. But she didn't care at the moment. Lost in introspection, she'd unhooked the never go out that Babylon had given her so shortly after her purification and simply held it in her hand, studying it.

It had been such a long time since she'd seen the Knight. She hoped that he was happy wherever he was. He deserved to be happy. Smiling a little to herself, she cradled the trinket and lifted her head to scan the streets that were visible.

She couldn't see anything yet, but her inner senses were screeching that Chaos was close. Reasonably strong, but not General (or worse) strong. She could handle this on her own without needing to worry about calling in an assist.

"I know you're there," she said into the cold air. "You can either be polite and stop skulking or just piss off and bother someone else. I'm not really bothered either way."

The captain felt the blaze of order energy a moment before he heard the woman's voice calling out to him and he smiled at her choice of accusations before heading towards that becomes, rather than away—the latter being the wiser option. She was stronger than him, he could feel that much, but didn't know what she was until he got close enough to spot her sitting up on the rail of parking garage a block from where he'd powered up in the shadows.

"Skulking?" He sounded amused, pale eyes narrowing up at her. "From the one looking like some bird of prey?" Niss snorted softly, arms coming up to cross over his chest, the glowing bauble on one wrist stark against the black of his shirt in dim evening.

She was a senshi's, eternal by the feel of her and white wings at the small of her back. There were glowing markings on her brow and arms that he couldn't make out from where he stood, and wouldn't have understood regardless, because he had no idea about transcendence or what it meant.

Calmly watching the officer come out of the shadows, Chariklo kept still and kept her expression one of pleasant serenity. This one hadn't done anything to her and as far as she knew hadn't harmed anyone. She would not allow her temper and distaste for Chaos to take over and cause her to nearly murder anyone else.

Unless they'd proven beyond any doubt that they were little better than a rabid beast.

"A bird of prey?" she echoed quietly, nose wrinkling slightly in a pleased smile. "Well, that's a new one, but I sort of like it. Alas, I'm afraid seagulls are only dangerous to little fish and fur coats."

Eyes sparkling wickedly, she turned her head slightly to better keep an eye on the officer and allowed the barest hint of ferocity into her smile.

"That would make you the little fish in this scenario, I believe."

She watched the officer cross him arms and froze as the dim light glinted off of tiny, glowing bauble that was an exact twin for the one she held in her hand. Feeling a rise of temper, she forced it down and held herself in rigid control. There were several reasons why this man would have a never go out. And all of them left a bad taste in her mouth.

Moving slowly, she uncurled her fingers from her own bauble and made quite sure that it was visible as she hooked it back onto her waist sash. Then, forcing herself to take a deep breath, she turned and gave the man her undivided attention.

Barely blinking as she stared coldly at him, she raised a hand and languidly pointed at his own NGO before asking in a voice so laced with soft menace that anyone who knew her would have been racing for the hills.

"And where, my little fish, did you acquire that? And do be truthful. I don't like liars, you see..."

The captain snorted softly. "Seagulls are opportunistic bullies that'll steal snatch whatever they please right out of your hand." That she mentioned them at all had to be significant. Her sphere perhaps, or some other personal relation he was thus far unaware of. Time would tell, or it wouldn't. Nissonite wasn't bothered either way.

Something seemed to have sparked a change in the woman, and her otherwise pleasant demeanor seemed to shift, tension levels rising. He wasn't quite sure what could have caused the shift until he caught sight of the soft blue glow of the bauble in her hand as she made quite the show of attaching it to the sash tied around her slender waist.

It had the captain unfolding his arms so he could hold up the wrist his own never-go-out dangled from, pale eyes dropping to mysterious little trinket before rising again to meet the senshi's. "I don't actually know. I'm told I used to be a squire of Mercury, but I have no memories of that." He let his arm lower again, wanting to be ready to summon his weapon should the tension mounting reach a crescendo.

"But you know where they come from, don't you?" His head tipped, brows arched and expression hungry. He'd been wondering about the bauble for ages now, but no one he'd talked to could tell him anything about it.

A corrupted Mercury knight. Well, that crossed a couple of possible scenarios off her mental list. Of course, she had no idea when he had been corrupted, so uncross at least one scenario. Ugh.

The hunger that flickered across his expression convinced her that he was telling the truth as he knew it and some of her anger drained. A quiet sadness filled where some of the anger had been and she allowed her body to relax minutely. Rather than give him a quick answer, she took her time to choose her words.

"I'll grant you that some seagulls are swaggering bullies," she said softly, with a hint of an odd smile. "But I wonder how much of that is because of people taking away their natural food and homes. We do what we must to survive. Most gulls just want to keep their colonies safe. But that's not really addressing what you're asking."

She held up a hand in a kind of 'please wait' gesture as her brow furrowed in thought. The lack of any memories of who he used to be before might make this difficult.

"Was it by choice?" she asked suddenly. "You becoming an officer, I mean. Did they tell you that you'd forget most of who you are or were and give you a choice in the matter? Yes, I know who the never-go-outs come from. But I'm not sure how much I can or should say about him."

She paused and pushed herself to her feet, stretching out her back until audible pops could be heard coming from her spine.

"Because, you see, from where I stand there are two main possibilities. Either you or your new friends murdered him and stole that from his body before you corrupted and so helpfully lost your memory. Or," Chariklo's voice became soft and almost gentle, as if her next words hurt her on some level. "He gave it to you as a gift long before you were corrupted. In which case, the person you are now doesn't deserve that gift. But the person you used to be and could become again if you haven't been completely brainwashed does. I do know that if he saw you now, Babylon's heart would break."

Her sphere then, he decided, as she referred to herself as a gull. If not the animal itself than something to do with them. It was still a guess, but Nissonite was sure enough of it now to use it as a basis for reference later when he checked the database for her, or entered her himself if there was no record. But regardless, that was neither here nor there.

He kept quiet as she held a hand up to indicate he should wait, and was not disappointed as she continued on. There was a considerable amount of pity, worry over his well being, and suspicion.

"I don't remember. I don't remember ever being a knight or anything leading up to being corrupted." It came with a shrug, as if that meant nothing to him. How could he miss what he had no memories of being?

What he did miss was his family, his little brother. He'd had to say goodbye to them when he'd walked away from being Axton Finch. That still hurt a little, but he had Rory, and he had Desdemona, and he was slowly making new acquaintances again now that he was settled into his life again.

"So it's a knight named Babylon?" Even if the senshi told him nothing else, he had a name now. A point of reference. Perhaps he'd find an entry on the man in the database when he checked later. A little smile pulled at the captain's lips as he glanced down at the never-go-out on his wrist.

"For all the good the knowledge might do you," she answered shortly. "Yes, it's his name, but no one has seen or heard from him in quite some time. So, I'm sure you can understand my worry that my friend might be dead and it's somehow your doing."

Chariklo salved her soul by reminding herself that Babylon had transcended. He couldn't be corrupted. And there was no way in hell that anyone in the Negaverse knew who he was when not powered up. Hell, even she didn't know that. She glanced towards the officer and saw the little smile. Doubtless plotting something.

Then, a thought struck the tall senshi and she snorted mirthlessly. Had she actually encountered any Negaverse agents since she'd purified? She couldn't precisely recall. Everyone in the Court surely knew she'd purified by now. But there was a good chance that the Negaverse had no idea. She hadn't exactly gone around sharing the information, after all. If this dude was like most agents she'd known over the years, he would inevitably peek at whatever database they used to keep track of people. Goodness knew she was storing up details to plug into the database the senshi had access to. It was just standard procedure.

Still, she couldn't help tweaking the guy's tail a little bit. With her own lopsided smile on full display, Chariklo crossed her arms over her chest and tilted her head slightly.

"Y'all still have that list of who's who, yeah? I'll be nice and save you some time. Chariklo, senshi of seagulls. Formerly of the Dark Mirror Court and a known alliance traitor even before I purified. Be sure to pass along that I ain't dead, in spite of the best efforts of a pack of murderous twats. Oh, and be a dear and remind them that unlike you or the other poor saps they corrupt, I never forgot."

Flashing the Captain a brilliant, if feral grin, Chariklo stretched out and waited. She wanted this kid to at least be cautious of her. She also wanted to see what he'd do with the knowledge she'd just giftwrapped for him.

He snorted back up at her as his teeth flashed in a wide grin. "A name is more than I had before I crossed path's with you, sweetheart, and knowledge is power." He wanted to know what the bauble was, where it came from, and now he hand that information. It was enough for him, at least for the moment. The only part of his past he held any lingering longing for was the part that included his family, and they were safer with him out of the picture.

Pale eyes widened a touch as she offered up a plethora of personal information and he mentally filed it all away to report back to his general later. She seemed to think the rest of the organization would care, and he was inclined to believe that, even if he wasn't entirely sure what the Dark Mirror Court was. Senshis, he know that much, but he hadn't run into one of them.

Her feral grin was met with his cheerful one, head tilting slightly to one side. He hadn't moved except to cross his arms again, and if she wanted him intimidated she was going to have to look elsewhere for it because he wasn't going to show her anything. "Thanks for all the choice tidbits, I'm sure there's someone higher up than me that'll appreciate it." Niss didn't know her, couldn't appreciate the value of what she'd just handed over to him.

"Oh," he lifted a hand, finger extended skyward. "That reminds me. I don't know much, but do know there isn't an alliance." Once upon a time there'd been one, but it'd fallen apart, or so he'd heard.

"Well, alliances do tend to fall apart when officers keep teaming up to kidnap and attempt to murder the senshi they claimed to be war buddies with."

With snake like quickness, her casual, easy manner crackled away, leaving a senshi standing who was very much all business. Had the officer held any memories of strange dreams, he might have recognized Chariklo's sudden shift as the shadow of a the Princess she'd been.

"You," she said, voice laced with cold menace, "do not get the privilege of calling me 'sweetheart'. I've beaten officers stronger than you to within an inch of their lives with no recourse to my magic."

So that might have been a tiny lie. It had only been a single Captain and Corvus had stopped her quickly enough. But this little fish didn't need to know details like that. In fact, as far as she was concerned, he gotten all the information she was willing to part with. And really, it was only enough to give her an idea of whether or not any officers existed who might still carry a grudge after he reported.

Thank all the gods that she no longer had to worry about Bischofite being one of those.

"Swim along home, little fish," she murmured in a weary tone. "And best hope that my friend is still in the land of the living. Or if he's not that you had no hand in the deed."

Standing and turning her back on the officer, she wondered what he might do. If he were smart, he'd take the hint and leave. She really was tired and even considering that Babylon might be gone forever hurt. She wanted nothing more than to go home and curl up with her boy and dog.

Hard to argue with that logic, and since Niss had no frame of reference for what she was talking about he could really only shrug helplessly back at her. Maybe it wasn't fair, his lack of response of recognition, but there was nothing he could do about that.

But just like that the tension went from palatable to nearly thick enough to choke on, and the captain was left staring back at the eternal senshi as she hissed back at him with threats so thinly veiled they might as well have been bare. "I'm sure that's meant to intimidate, but I don't quake easily." And it wasn't like he wanted to be attacked, but in the end he really had very little control over that beyond just not being deliberately antagonizing.

Which was tempting, but Rory and Des would give him hell if he came back busted and bruised.

So he let it go, even if the endearment still rested heavy on his tongue. The impulse to rile her up more than he already had inadvertently. It was a near thing, but as she turned he let it go, teleporting away and off into the night. Threats aside, she'd given him answers to questions that'd been nagging him, and at the very least he was grateful for that.

She felt the officer's aura vanish and relaxed. Her little fish at least knew when to let things lie. And now that he was gone, she could wander back into the shadows on the parking garage and power down.

Shivering with cold and sadness, Bindhi snuggled deeper into her coat and began to walk home.
