New Year's Eve has gone awry for you when pretty snowflakes turn into an ugly snowstorm in a matter of minutes. Your walk through the snow (to wherever it is that you were headed to celebrate the new year at) is becoming less magical by the minute and judging by the size of the hail pieces, you need to get out of it fast before you find yourself on the receiving end of some vicious bruises.

Unfortunately, the wind and the snow have made it impossible to navigate through and after a series of twists, turns and attempts to shield yourself from the storm, you find yourself on the doorstep of a clearly neglected cabin-type house. You're not sure where it came from but you don't have much choice but to make your way inside to avoid the fierce weather.

Inside, there's enough wood to make a fire in the fireplace, a small cot with a few dusty quilts, some half-burned candles and several canned goods (all that seem decently aged). You might even be able to find some alcohol hidden away, if you're lucky.

Judging by the way the wind is howling and the snow is piling up, though, it looks like you're going to be bringing in the new year stuck in this unfortunate place - better make due with what you've got!

Lori had been excited for the New Year's party that was being hosted by a fellow model from the same agency. She had dressed up in a cute sweater dress, thick leggings, and tall warm boots. On top of be prepared with cute clothes, she had even worked on baking some yummy brownies for the occasion. Usually, she wouldn't bother doing the work herself. That's why she had a brother. But, she had wanted to give them as a gift. It seemed like cheating to give something made by her brother as a gift to her friends, but then he had observed her process and pitched in with plenty of advice along the way. And since he had insisted on helping her with the brownies, she had insisted on helping him with his wardrobe.

Landry wasn't quite as thrilled about the party as she was, but at least he had agreed to join her. It would have been terrible to choose between bringing in the New Year with her friends or her twin. Her twin would have won in the end, which is why she was so thrilled when he agreed to join her.

"Alright, I'm ready to head out when you are!" She pulled a long winter coat on over her dress and buttoned it up all the way. Then she pulled her purse on over her shoulder, it didn't have much in it. Just her phone, some makeup if she needed a touch up (it was a model's party after all), and her wallet (minus any money that could be stolen). All she had left to grab was the box of individually wrapped brownies in the kitchen.

God, Landry hated parties. They were always the same. Loud, obnoxious, thumping places with bright lights and people trying to chat with him like they knew him. It was unbearable and he hated it beyond what words could describe. And yet here he was, putting the most basic of clothing he could get away with on (and being forced into something else instead because it lacked Cheer), and holding a camera case against his back. Atleast there was one good thing about this party, there were plenty of models to take pictures of, and it was a pretty exclusive party where most photographers weren't welcome. Maybe he could get some good shots for his portfolio.

It was horrible, though, just how much he was willing to do for his twin, and yet he still forced a smile as she finished up her makeup and slid on her coat.

"Yeah... I'm ready... God, I hope they have atleast some decent food there. No more pigs in a blanket. Half of these people could already be seen that way... Of course I don't mean you, you know. As long as you stay sober." It was a cheap shot, he knew, buuuut it put a slightly bigger smile on his face before.

"After you, sis... It's not my friend we're going to go visit."

Lori gave a big fat, fake laugh at Landry's comment. Stay sober? Meh, she could try, but it was easy to get into all sorts of things at these parties. Her twin should count himself lucky that she just enjoyed a shot or two here and there. She could get into way worse things if she wanted. She didn't have much respect for people who drowned out the world around them in more illegal ways though. While alcohol was technically illegal for her, she could bend the rules a bit in her own favor.

"Probably just a glass or two of champagne, to ring in the new year and all that." It's not like she'd be getting drunk, and besides her beloved twin would be there to make sure she didn't go anything too stupid.

She tucked the box of brownies under one arm and opened up the door to step out into the cold. It was certainly chilly, but there was just a light snow fall. The party wasn't too far away, but the walk would be a little chilly. For a moment she considered calling an uber or something, but it would probably take them longer to get here, not worth the money when the walk would do. She locked the door up behind them and set off down the side walk.

"The snow sure if pretty tonight." Just a little flurry now, hopefully it wouldn't get too bad outside during the party. She always preferred making it home to her own bed at night.

They made it a few blocks and suddenly things started to take a turn for the worse. "This was so not in the forecast for today." She grumpled, the party wasn't that much further though, right? It was getting a little to thick to see out here.

"How about a single sip? You're heavier than you look, and I don't exactly want to drag you home today. I am not bringing a sled." Even with his distaste in going off and socializing, atleast he did have his sister, who did get his humor most of the time... And took her time to actually seek out people who he might click better with. It was as if he had his own people sorter.

For a while, he simply walked quietly behind her, enjoying the quiet of the scenery, and nodding at Lori's comment about the snow. It fell like glittering little diamonds at a steady pace, not enough to hinder their walk, but enough to make the world feel surreal for a few moments.

And then, as they turned a corner, the wind whipped up, snow became heavy and thick, nearly blinding Landry and pushing the twins apart until he reached out to grab Lori's wrist.

"Come on! I think there's a... What, a SOMETHING over there!" While home wasn't too far, he could already tell that if they tried to go any further, they'd get lost, and it was better to be stuck somewhere warm than stuck in the snow where they could both freeze to death.
