Quote: New Year's Eve has gone awry for you when pretty snowflakes turn into an ugly snowstorm in a matter of minutes. Your walk through the snow (to wherever it is that you were headed to celebrate the new year at) is becoming less magical by the minute and judging by the size of the hail pieces, you need to get out of it fast before you find yourself on the receiving end of some vicious bruises. Unfortunately, the wind and the snow have made it impossible to navigate through and after a series of twists, turns and attempts to shield yourself from the storm, you find yourself on the doorstep of a clearly neglected cabin-type house. You're not sure where it came from but you don't have much choice but to make your way inside to avoid the fierce weather. Inside, there's enough wood to make a fire in the fireplace, a small cot with a few dusty quilts, some half-burned candles and several canned goods (all that seem decently aged). You might even be able to find some alcohol hidden away, if you're lucky. Judging by the way the wind is howling and the snow is piling up, though, it looks like you're going to be bringing in the new year stuck in this unfortunate place - better make due with what you've got! Caledonite snarled as he shoved the door to the cabin open and quite literally threw both his ward Galaxite and the pesky Cosmos Page Eleusis through the threshold before slamming the door shut again.
At first glance the cabin seemed almost abandoned, with few belongings in it. Caledonite began to wonder which was worse, the snowstorm or this place. "You." He growled, turning to Galaxite. "Make yourself useful and see what you can find." The Captain ordered before turning on Eleusis. "And you. You will stay put and stay out of my way or you will wish I left your sorry a** in that storm."
On second thought. She was probably worst option.

"Hey!" Eleusis said sharply, stumbling a few steps as she was shoved through the door. This certainly wasn't the first encounter she'd had with Galaxite and Caledonite, but this was definitely the one that had her the most frustrated with the ever-angry star-spangled captain. "You can't just manhandle me however you want, I'm not--you don't get to--"
She stared, face full of angry offense, cheeks puffed out in her fury, and she knew she had to make a ridiculous picture, a tiny Cosmos page glaring at a Negaverse captian over a foot taller than her, but still.
"I'm not your Lieutenant! You can't just order me around, a*****e!"
Galaxite rolled his eyes, and leaned over to press a quick peck to Caledonite's cheek.
"Thanks for getting us out of the storm, baby," he said, fondly. Better here than out there, after all, even if they had an intransigently difficult Page with them. A Page that, in Galaxite's opinion, it was important that they keep working with, because he suspected she might just come over to the dark side someday.
He moved out of the main room and into what had to be the kitchen, and started scavenging for appropriate supplies.
"There's some food in here! Nothing great, but canned spaghettios and some vegetables. We should probably get comfy, it's so bad out there that I'll bet we're in here all night. Happy New Year, hmm?" He teased, lightly.

"You're [not] my Lieutenant. But I still out rank you regardless of what side we're on. By all means, if you want to go back outside and freeze to death. Be my guest. If not, then shut the hell up and do as you're told." He hissed again, his attitude ebbing just slightly as Galaxite kissed him on the cheek.
He snorted in response, following the other into the next room. Get comfy? Ha. They were in for a miserable night and they all knew it. Caledonite trudged over to the fire place and began cleaning it out so he could attempt a fire. "Keep looking. You never know what's hidden in places like this."
"If you're done, throwing a tantrum and are ready to pull your weight, you could see what this hell shack has in the way of bedding." He yelled, just loud enough for her to hear in the other room.
It was going to be a long, long night.

Eleusis huffed, and then, with the maximum drama required of her, she dropped, sitting down and crossing her legs and fixing Caledonite with a flat stare.
"Fine. You want me to stay out of your way? I'm out of your way," she said, and she huddled in on herself, letting him stomp off. "I mean, yeah, in here with you two is better than freezing out there, but not by much." Because if she was petulant and annoying, she could ignore that it actually didn't sound quite so bad, right?
A tiny huff escaped her lips, though, when he shouted back to her, and she pushed herself up off the floor. "I'll do it," she called, "but because I need it too!"
She began hunting around, and there it was--one single bed, like this was every crappy fanfic ever, but at least it was piled with several quilts. She scooped them up, and carried them into the next room.
"There's only one bed, but I figure we can make due with these? Since you two are probably just fine snuggling, but uh, I'll be good on my own."
"Oh, I'm still looking," Galaxite hummed, and he started pulling down various cans, setting them on the counter. "I wonder who lives here. Obviously it's been a while since they've been by, but still." He started opening drawers and cabinets, pulling uot cooking utensils and, eventually, a long lighter.
"Here, for the fire," he offered it to Caledonite, and then glanced back as Eleusis trundled in with her arms full of blankets. "Oh! That's perfect, I think we can make due just fine with those. Well, those and a nice fire, but they're a good start." He smiled over at her, like that might help make her more comfortable, because if they were going to be stuck together all night, at least they could try and be nice.

"Then freeze." He mumbled under his breathe as he took the lighter from Galaxite and lit the fire. Caledonite snorted and rolled his eyes. If she knew what was good for her. She'd do it because he told her to.
A scowl past his lips again at Galaxite's chipper can do attitude. Pointless, he thought. But he'd let his ward do whatever he saw fit to do... Within reason. "I doubt anyone owns this anymore. Judging by the sight of things." The Captian eye'd the blankets with disdain but said nothing of them. They were thin at best. He doubted they'd keep much if any heat trapped within them but it was better than nothing. Maybe.
"He's fine snuggling. Not me." Caledonite shot back.

Eleusis set the blankets on the floor, and rolled her eyes. "Snuggling with each other, not with me. Or is that you trying to pretend you two aren't a thing? Because you're really not subtle about being A Thing." She shrugged her shoulders and moved to help Galaxite sort through the food.
"Or if they do, they definitely won't care. This food isn't marked or anything, I doubt they know what they do or don't have." She picked up a can, and hummed. "Are we making one big meal for everybody? Because I'm pretty hungry and don't super care what we eat, and I can definitely cook for myself if I have to. Assuming the stove works, which, probably? But if not, we can just use the fireplace, right? Like a camp cookout?"
Galaxite hummed, and purposely diverted a bit to move over to Caledonite and give him another brief cheek-kiss. "Much better, with the fire," he said, and then he disentangled from his lover to go back to the kitchen and start fiddling with the stove.
"This isn't working," he said, "the gas has probably been shut off. So, yeah, fireplace it'll have to be, or we eat it cold out of the cans." He shrugged. "Not gonna kill us, either way."

"Oh no. We're a thing." Caledonite replied flatly. "But again. He's fine cuddling. Clingly little s**t apparently has no problem flirting with people." Caledonite grumbled, shooting Galaxite a glare. "He''s more likely to snuggle with you than you think."
"I doubt the electricity or the gas works in this place and even if it did, I wouldn't trust it to stay long. Any water in the pipes are likely frozen. Who knows about anything stored." He turned last second to catch Galaxite by the mouth instead of getting another cheek kiss, and again his attitude diminished ever so slightly. "Check the grates on the stove, or in the oven. See if their removable and we can try to prop them up over the fire."
"Not gonna kill some of us..." Cale said quietly. "Though with your track record... I would not be surprised." He eyed the fire, wondering how long it would last and if there was anything else they could use to keep it going. Worse case scenario, he supposed they could start breaking cabinet doors off. "You said there was a bed? How big? It might be smart to drag the mattress in here. We don't know how long this fire will last."

Galaxite gave Caledonite a wink. "Oh, you know who I come home to every night, Ale. No pretty thing's going to change that. Unless she were coming home with us." He turned and gave Eleusis a wiggled eyebrow, and when Caledonite turned the cheek kiss into one on the lips, he let out a long, happy sigh into the kiss and leaned into it with eager excitement, even if it was only for a brief instant.
"I'll go check the kitchen. You think you'll need help with the mattress, Princess?" He teased, and then he leaned in to steal another quick kiss from Caledonite before stepping into the next room. A quick tug revealed the that the stove grates were indeed removable, and he came back in with them.
"These should do pretty well for us."Eleusis made a noise of displeasure at the suggestion. "I'm not going anywhere with a pair of Negas," she said flatly, crossing her arms and shaking her head. Sure, they were both handsome and charming, and look, when presented with two six-foot dudes, a girl had Thoughts, but they would definitely just remain thoughts. There was too much to be lost, if she went over.
"I'll go get the mattress," she said. "I can lift it, I'm not a total noodle," she strode off and back tot he bedroom, and with a little wiggling, got it off the frame and tugged it back into the living room. Powered strength was a blessing, and it wasn't a partiularly large or thick one. She let it fall onto the floor in an open space.
"Just a single, but better than nothing."

Caledonite grunted his thanks as Galaxite produced the grates and got to work trying to jerryrig the grates above the fire. After a couple of minutes, he had managed to prop the grates up as best he could. "Better then nothing." He murmured before turning to Galaxite. "You didn't find anything else of interest? Nothing we could use?"
Caledonite rolled his eyes. "You've already gone somewhere with a pair of Negas." He pointed out. Even if it was against her. She could be grateful he even stopped to drag her a** to safety. Coulda left her in the storm. Probably should have, he thought miserably to himself.
The thud of the mattress hitting the ground caught his attention and he turned, scowling at the thing. Too small, it wouldn't hold them all.. efficiently. The blankets were no better either. With a sigh, Caledonite eyed the poor excuse for furniture around them. "We might want to consider breaking down any tables or chairs... Whatever we can find to keep the fire going. We don't know how long this storm will last." Didn't know how long the fire would last.
"You should get some rest." He muttered to Galaxite. "You look exhausted."

"Nothing of use, sorry," Galaxite said, and he looked a little abashed. "Looks like whoever used to live here cleared it out pretty well."
When he saw the single mattress Eleusis hauled in, he let out a little sigh. "Definitely not much. We'll all have to huddle very, very close." He winked, playfully, and then got serious rather quickly again.
"Whatever it takes. I don't like the idea of freezing." He shook his head, dropping his voice.
"I don't know if I'll stay powered up if I fall asleep. And I don't want her to know who I am." He jerked his head towards Eleusis. Yes, she was lovely, and so far not a threat, but that didn't mean he expected it to stay that way.Eleusis crossed her arms and slowly sank down onto the floor. "I'll bundle up by myself. You two stay over there on the bed. It'll be fine." She shrugged, grabbing one of the blankets and proceeding to wrap it around herself. "Between the three of us, I think we can make it through one nasty, cold night to ring in a very unfortunate New Year."

Caledonite rolled his eyes at Galazite's comment but said little else. Now was neither the time nore the place.
"You won't. But... She'd have to know your civilian life... She doesn't look like anyone I've seen, or anyone you've told me about." As it was, his social circle was smaller then Caer's. "At the very least.. Lay down and atleast rest. I'mnot keen on the idea of you freezing either." He said, as he began to remove his jacket.
"Get on the bed Princess." He said as he beckoned Gala over and wrapped the thing around him. "It'sgoing to be a long night..."
