Quote: On a cold winter night, when the moon is nearly full and bright in the sky, you hear laughter. At first, you can't place it, but then you feel little pokes and prods, tugs on your hair, your clothes. Sometimes you think you see something out of the corner of your eye--a small, icy body. Sometimes you hear wings flapping in the night. As long as you are out in the cold, you feel eyes on you and you find yourself the target of small mischief from what seems to be icy little fairies, though they move too fast for you to see or grab. They never speak, only laugh. When you go inside, or venture to anywhere with too much light or heat, they seem to disappear and do not bother you again. Nolan trudged through the freshly fallen snow, wishing that it had been plowed or something at this point. Unfortunately that just wasn't feasible since the snow had only stopped about an hour before, but it didn't mean he stopped complaining about it. Once again on the way back to school and counting down the days until he would finally be out, Nolan pulled the jacket tighter around himself, hoping that he would get out of the area quickly. Tonight was his unlucky night though. When he was almost halfway back to school, he thought he could have sworn that he heard laughter. He looked around to see where it was coming from, and spotted a little girl in the area, and figured that it must have been her that it had come from, and he continued on his way. But then he heard it again and thought he saw... something floating?! When he looked around to try to follow the floating light, he was suddenly hit by an snowy ball, right in his face!

Dani was also trudging home through the snow. While the snow could be beautiful, such as those snowflake flowers the other night, she immensely preferred the heat. She was a desert child. As she was trudging, she thought she heard laughter, a sort of child-like laugh. She turned to see where it came from and saw an older kid or young man hit by a snowball that seemed to come from nowhere. It hit him in the face. She hurried over to him to see if he was okay, still limping from when some had thrown a snowball at her – when she was ice skating no less. “Are you okay, sir?” She asked the guy when she got to him. She saw a glowing light out of the corner of her eye and turned to look, just missing a tiny floating, icy body. Suddenly, her legs went out from under her and she was dragged five feet. She let out a cry. SSBrosB Word Count: You: 172 Me: 162

Nolan had just gotten the snow out of his eyes, well enough to see at least, and heard someone ask him a question. While he would have replied that he was fine and he was just glad there wasn't a rock in the snow that had hit him, he suddenly heard a cry, and looking around realized that the little girl who had been near him was dragged away. Wiping the excess snow out of his eyes he ran towards her. He didn't believe the little girl had hit him. Or at least she didn't seem the type to just go around and hit people with snowballs. He finally got over to where she was, and noticed more of the glowing lights and the laughter. He tried to help the girl up, grabbing her under the shoulders from behind her back and lifting her up. "Are you all right?" He looked around to see more of the damn lights. "I think we need to get out of here. Can you make it?" He asked, trying to shoo the "lights" away with one of his hand.

The young man grasped Dani by her shoulders and lifted her up. He asked if she was alright, to which she took account of herself and then replied, “Yes I am fine.” Those crazy lights, were they fairies. The young man said that they needed to get out of there. He was right. “Can you make it?” He asked her. She got up and tested her bad leg. It would be fine. “Yeah, I think I can.” She swatted at the lights as well. One darted at her with a lot of laughter, and she jumped out of the way. “Let’s go!” she cried out. “There is a library near here, I think!” She started running as fast as her little legs could carry her. “By the way,” she said in between breaths, “I’m Dani. What can I call you?” SSBrosB Word Count: You 359, Me 302

The kid seemed to be okay, and while Nolan hadn't thought of spending any more time with her, she seemed to want to introduce herself. She must have been more than okay if she cared so much about giving her name to a random stranger! But she seemed to know where she was going, and he hoped that the library was open. "Uh, I'm Nolan." He had said in reply to her introduction. He didn't really care about her name though. She was going to be "kid" or "you" until they were no longer in the same situation or area in which he would then completely forget about her. The stupid laughter followed, and Nolan wished he could just punch them right in their stupid little faces, whatever they were!

By the tone of his voice, Dani could tell that Nolan was only using her until he could get out of the situation. She’d been through it before. That didn’t mean that she wasn’t going to help him though. This was weird Christmas magic though. She knew through her older brother and sister, that at Christmas and Halloween and sometimes other smaller holidays, Destiny City would just well up with magical events, some of them positive, some negative. This was definitely negative – but not the Negaverse. How to get rid of these pests? Usually holiday magic could be overcome with other the use of senshi or knight magic. But how. Think Dani. They seemed to be made of ice. Therefore, warmth should melt them, or at least send them running, if only they could to the library quicker. A fairy darted at her, but she got to the library door first. She opened it for Nolan. “Come on! Hurry!” SSBrosB Word Count: You 489, Me 501

Nolan was slightly annoyed that the kid had made it first, though he supposed he had let her lead the way, so it was only natural. But he wouldn't let a kid do it next time. Next time a kid "challenged" him, he would beat them! At... whatever it was that they were doing! He ran in, opening the other door and holding it open for the kid to use. "I don't think they'll come inside." He said, looking at the annoying glowing things. He at least hoped they wouldn't come inside. It seemed that all of these weird events somehow didn't seem to target those who weren't powered or those who didn't have any connection to any others who were powered. He let out a sigh. "Well, I guess we can stay here for a while, until they're gone." He said, mostly to himself. "All right kid. Thanks for helping me, but I believe we part here." He didn't want to hang out with a kid. "Unless you think that they're going to return once you leave, then I can walk with you to your house." And he was willing to do so, but the kid would probably reject his offer. Otherwise he'd read a book for an hour or so, then head back to his dormitory. Sailor Hawk we can end it with your post next if you want!

Dani nodded. Hadn’t she known it come to this? “I’ll be fine, thank you.” It looked like they were already clearing off. The warmth of the library seemed to melt any that came close a little, so they moved off. When she left, alone, an hour later, she was fine. The pixies were nowhere in sight.
