Deciding to venture in to see what the fuss is all about, you (and perhaps whoever you're with) head towards the marked path. Twenty minutes or so in and you soon realize that you must have fallen distracted at some point because the path is no longer obvious and there's neither sound nor sight of any other people around. The sun begins to set and you can swear you hear quiet whispers among the trees. You'd better find your way back somehow - and fast - before the whispers’ owners find you first.
It was causing him to step onto a new plane of anxiety he didn't think existed. He needed help. He doubted Kailey would be able to help him too much. She was his BFF and always would be, but she didn't have any better luck in the romance department than he did. Xi was a possibility, but the kid already had so much on his plate. The last thing he wanted to do was add something like this to his worrying brain. Lately he had been wondering who he could go to for some advice, someone who wasn't a family member because that would be embarrassing. Except, wait, his family wasn't his only 'family'.
He felt stupid for not thinking of it before. Besides, he missed Rhona. He hadn't had the time recently to catch up with her. It had honestly been....months since he had seen her. He flipped open his phone and sent her a quick text "EMERGENCY. I miss you. We need to talk. P.S. It's nothing bad! c:" He got a swift reply and then asked her to meet him at the Winter Wonder Carnival, might as well try to have some fun while they were at it.
He waited for her near one of the entrancing, slowly pacing around in the snow until she arrived.

Jason had the unfortunate habit of texting like Lavender, and Rhona had the equally unfortunate habit of reading the first few words of a text and reacting accordingly. And so she was already powered up and halfway into the nearest mirror when she looked down at her phone again for a location only to realize that Jason wasn't actualy in mortal danger. Just a really dramatic texter. And so Rhona sighed, pulled herself out of mirrorspace, and powered back down, shooting back, Quote: You and Lavender, I swear to god. START with the disclaimer AND THEN be drama queens. I don't have time to be powering up and down in blind panic lol. Where am I meeting you? Not that she waited for an answer. Quickly, Rhona changed from her pajamas and into jeans and a corded sweater. "Later, Alois," she called, the black cat on the windowsill licking the glass barely even twitching as she did so. By the time she hit the front door of her apartment complex, she had the location. The carnival was across town from her, so she hailed a cab and made her way down there, stopping a few blocks away to pick up coffee for the two of them. Upon her arrival, she quickly located Jason with a swift kiss on the cheek and the presentation of the hot coffee. "I missed you too love," she greeted with a smile. "So, what did you need to talk about?

Yeah, Jason liked to be dramatic, always a bit of an attention hog. That much would probably never change about him. Though he didn't expect her to not read the entire text when she first saw it. His gloved hands were stuck in the pockets of his pea coat, a beanie was keeping his ears warm, and it was obvious he had on layers since the hood of his jacket rested on his shoulders. he hated the cold. Which was why when Rhona showed up with coffee he was absolutely ecstatic.
"Why didn't I think about coffee? You're a life saver." He could feel the heat of the cup through his gloves and suddenly he wasn't as worried about the cold anymore. When she asked him what he wanted to talk about though, he couldn't hide the blush on his face. Maybe he could pass it off as the cold though.
"Why don't we walk and talk?" He was looking around for something they could do while having a decent conversation at the same time. That was when he noticed people gathered around a little clearing that headed into the forest near by. They must have set up some sort of path for people to walk. "And that looks like the perfect place." He wrapped his free arm around Rhona's shoulders and lead her down the path.

Of course, Rhona noticed the blush. She cocked an eyebrow at it, but said nothing, trusting that Jason had his reasons the blush and then pretend it hadn't happened. Normally Rhona might consider it a "masculinity so fragile" moment, but she knew better than that. She knew Jason better than that. So she only nodded and allowed him to lead the way, sipping her coffee to hide the knowing and rather s**t-eating grin that had been spreading across her lips. Jason would tell her in his own time, and meanwhile, she could spill some of her own beans. Maybe make him feel more comfortable. "Well, I'm glad you're happy with the coffee. It's been a while, so I hope I got it right." She followed Jason towards the woods and interlaced his arm with hers, as was her wont when she was with any of her male counterparts. She walked with him in silence for a moment, listening to the people chatting around her and the snow under how own boots before she finally chimed in, "while you look for the words you need, do you mind if I make this about me for a moment? Because I have some big news that I am just dying to tell you and Xi." She took another sip of her coffee to stall, pique Jason's interest a bit before finishing, "if everything goes the way I hope it will go, you boys might have a new momma..."

Jason was more than happy to have such a lovely lady on his arms. It helped that Nischal knew about his ways and wouldn't be bothered by it at all. Though, it was admittedly cute to see him get jealous at times. He got to see that look a bit more with Xi living with them. Though, Jason was careful not to push too many buttons.
"It is exactly right."
When Rhona opened up about her own life though he gave her a little shocked expression in response. "I would so love to meet this new lady in your life. How long has this been going on? I'm so horribly out of the loop." He was obviously very excited for her. If there was anyone who deserved to be happy with someone it was Rhona. Thinking about her special someone though had him thinking about what was waiting for him back in their apartment.
And so he just blurted it out. "I want to ask Nischal to marry me." He went completely silent after that, waiting for her reaction to his words. Though already he was thinking of his next questions. How? When? Is it too soon? He had no idea.

Rhona nearly choked on her coffee with the way Jason blurted out what was in his mind. Granted, she should have expected exactly that... maybe it had been more than a while since they had spent time together. She swallowed hard, throat burning from the coffee, and coughed loudly to get the rest of the liquid out of her lungs. "Well, there you go! That wasn't that hard, was it," she laughed, nudging him with her elbow. And once the initial amusement at Jason's delivery wore off, Rhona could feel herself growing increasingly warm about what he had said. The feeling started at her toes and rose to color her cheeks the same way Jason's had been colored a moment ago. Not from embarrassment, of course. What had she to be embarrassed about? No, this was from joy. Pure and simple. Despite the look of consternation on his face, she knew that Jason had to be deliriously joyful as well. Why else would he ask Nischal to marry him? Never mind that he was Avior. Never mind that Avior had leaped over several lines last year. Jason was happy. Jason's happiness was all that had ever mattered. And so she glowed for him, cuddling in closer as she giggling girlishly and bounced on her tippy toes at the thought. "Oh my gosh, Jason, that's amazing! Oh, I'm so happy for you! Do you know how you're going to do it? Do you need ideas? Help? I can help!"

Jason did not intend for Rhona to literally choke on her coffee because of what he said. Maybe he should have delivered it better. More calm, rather than just blurting it out like that. She was the first person he had told though, even before his parents, so it had been more challenging to say out loud than he had anticipated. So far he had only thought about it...and maybe looked up rings on his laptop that was strictly password protected and guarded.
"It looks like you took it harder than I did." He gave her a little pat on the back to help the coffee go down a bit smoother.
He face sobered up quite seriously when she asked if he had any idea how he was going to go about it. "I...seriously have no idea." He visibility deflated and sort of groaned at the thought. "Before Nischal, my longest relationship was like...two months? I never thought I'd get this far with anyone. It's been close to a year and a half now. Do I not get him a ring when I purpose because I want to make sure he likes it too? Do I go big? Small? How do I get his ring size without being obvious?" There were far too many things to consider here and he was obviously distraught about it all. He liked to think of himself as this great romancer, but he couldn't be further from the truth.

God, he was so cute. It was easy to see why Nischal had snatched him up when he had. rhona only laughed to herself and took another long drink of coffee before she answered. "Well, the first thing you need to know is whether or not he even wants a ring. My mother," her voice caught in her throat when she thought about her still, "didn't want one. All she has is a gold wedding band. I have a friend that wanted something less traditional than a wedding band, so her then boyfriend got her a necklace. The first step is to know what Nischal would want. As for sizing, if he really does want a ring you can go two ways. Either air on the side of too big and have it sized down, or you can take some string and while he's sleeping, wrap it around his ring finger. The inches around his finger correspond to a ring size. For instance, I am a size eight -and-a-half. So the inches around my ring finger are two-and-a-quarter." She then winked and lowered her voice to say, "if you want to go all super spy on him, that is." Another drink of coffee and then Rhona went on, "but I mean, you know Nischal. You know what he wants. Let's start really basic. Do you know if he wants an engagement ring or something else"

Rhona did have a good point, maybe he was thinking of this a little too old fashioned. Though, he did know he want Nischal to wear something that proved he was in a committed relationship. Not that his boyfriend was all that outgoing, but he was handsome enough for someone to hit on him and he be oblivious about it. He took a sip of his coffee as he contemplated the advice being given to him.
"He does sleep like a log." Jason tended to be a bit restless at night these days. He was thankful that Nischal slept through all his tumbling through the night.
"I do think he would want a ring. He'd want one for me as well though. I could get us a matching set. Or propose without a ring and we could go shopping for something together. But would it be weird to propose empty handed?" He wanted his partner to be surprised by the proposal, but he also wanted his opinion on a lot of things.

Rhona shrugged at the question, mouth full of coffee for the moment. When she finally swallowed, she answered fully, "I dunno, man. It's all dependant upon your relationship with him. If it were me, I'd take Lavender shopping with me. But... I think I'd do it really sneaky. Like I'd take her in with the premise that I'd get her a necklace or something. Thank her for putting up with all of my bull s**t. And then lead her towards the rings... I dunno start making hypothetical suggestions and then... pop the question when she picks one?" Now that she said it out loud, it sounded cheesy. And besides, she wasn't proposing any time soon... not in the distant future, for sure, but not like tomorrow. Maybe... maybe she should have a plan. "You should go on etsy. They have hese beautiful wooden rings that I think would be marvelous. They're super unique and cheaper than traditional rings. Besides, the cost of diamonds is totally constructed. They are not worth what they cost." But that was a soapbox for another time. "I think going to etsy would be a nice touch, actually. Handcrafted, artisan rings that only you and Nischal would have. That's awfully romantic, right?" A whisper of something caught her ear and caused Rhona to turn around. She searched the forest for the source but found no one. No one. "Um... Hey Jace, wasn't there... I dunno a crowd in here earlier? Should we turn back?"

Rhona was just full of wonderful suggestions and Jason was happy to have turned to her first with all of her concerns. He didn't really thinking taking Nischal into a store would get him very far. He really didn't seem the type to wear jewelry and honestly, Jason wouldn't want anything to distract someone from the ring on his finger. Huh, he was starting to realize he was maybe a bit possessive over his lover. Wow, that was a new feeling.
"Etsy sounds like a good idea. I could always ask Nischal his opinion, casually...somehow." He hadn't even thought about getting something with a diamond. Just some simple band to show that they were taken and committed to each other.
Rhona wasn't the only one who heard that whisper, though he kept his eyes trained forward. Wait, since when had they been alone exactly? It was starting to get dark as well, just how long had they been out here? It didn't seem like it had been hours.
"Yeah, we should just go back the way we came." He had assumed that at some point they'd loop back around, but even when he turned he couldn't quite make out a path anywhere. He must have been too distracted by their conversation to realize they had wandered off a bit. Oh, that was just great.
"Surely if we just walk in a straight line, we'll end up...somewhere."

Somewhere... while not exactly promising, somewhere was better than the middle of nowhere. Rhona pulled her coat in closer and took a nervous sip of her coffee before trying her best to continue the conversation. "Um... yeah... I get a lot of gifts for Lavender on Etsy. And a lot of times you can customize what you find if you ask the creator. Like... well like this!" Rhona pulled out her phone and flicked through the pictures, eyes still wildly searching for signs that they were finding a way out. Most recently, Rhona had ordered a makeup bag for the love of her life, decorated with cute little bats and cobwebs. It had even come complete with a matching brush bag. The second they arrived, Rhona had taken pictures to show to Jett, Raven, and now Jason. "See, this is hand made! I was able to ask for the metal bits to be changed from silver to gunmetal finish since Lavender is Morticia Addams." Something whispered to her left, and while Rhona searched with her eyes, she made no motion to search for it beyond that. Just in case someone was watching for weakness.
