Since the Winter Wonderland Carnival opened, there had been a section all the way in the back that remained blocked from view by wooden fences and blue tarps. Every now and then, sounds would be heard of an almost construction like nature but any questions were met with staff just telling passersby that it would be opening soon and to thank them for patience.

What in the world had not been ready in time for the opening?

Now, the fences are gone and the tarps removed allowing guests to see for the first time, the Winter Carnival’s pride and joy: An Ice Maze!

Eight Foot ice walls shoot up into the sky marking the entrance before returning to a mere seven foot the rest of the way through. Scattered throughout the maze are iced carvings ranging from the abstract to animal and human figures. Yet at the center was the true treasure: the figure of a woman made of pure ice resides in the middle looking out at all those who enter her maze with wonder. She appears as if she could almost step off her pedestal and speak with the people around. Even the small fairy like creatures carved around her appear to have their wings flutter in the glow of the twinkle lights hung above the maze center. There is something strangely alluring about her, and once you find her you may find yourself so captivated by her appearance that the rest of the world seems to disappear around you and you lose track of time. Thankfully, there are enough people that someone is bound to shake you out of your stupor...eventually.

Making it through the ice maze rewards you with a small little ice fairy sculpture, a souvenir and reminder for the evening. Each person is given one but if you ask nicely, they might just give you one or two more to take home as gifts. After all, who doesn’t want their own 12” tall dancing fairy made of crystal? After you exit the maze with your prize, you may find yourself dreaming of the beautiful icy woman in the center of the maze, watching you with her cool smile and cold eyes.

OOC: Anyone who does this prompt will walk away with an ice fairy sculpture. Each one of them is slight different from the other but they all bare certain similar traits: they are all made of clear crystal without any color, all of them have a single pair of fairy wings and every single one seems to bare a childlike smile.

You are welcome to go through the Maze multiple times to see different things and explore the sculptures within. While you will be rewarded each time with a fairy, only ONCE will count towards a raffle ticket!

Jason kept finding himself returning to the Winter Wonderland Carnival, he so wanted to enjoy himself during this time of year. Even if it meant he had to keep his eyes open for anything suspicious going on. One thing that he had noticed on the first day of the carnival, was that they were still working on something in the back. Something very large, that they were definitely keeping away from prying eyes at the time. On his way home from work that day though, he heard people on the streets talking about the new maze that was now, finally, open. A maze made of ice, now that was something you didn't see every year. Corn mazes were popular in the fall, but it must have been a lot of work to bring to life an ice maze.

He wanted to go home and bring Nischal, but surely some quick recon could be just fine. His boyfriend had been so busy these days though. He was working on completely his GED and applying to colleges, they didn't have a whole lot of time together these days. So he decided to check it out and see if it would be worth dragging Nischal out to later. He was immediately impressed by the size and the work tat obviously went into the structure. No wonder it had taken them several days longer to get it ready for the Carnival.

The ice sculptures inside were truly works of art. He found himself wondering several times just who had made them, he'd love to meet them. Thankfully he had his camera with him, he had been at work after all. So he snapped some very lovely pictures along the way. So, even if Nischal didn't have time for the maze, at least he wouldn't entirely miss out on the beauty of it. Part of him felt bad for not dragging him out here to begin with, but he had no way of knowing it would be this breath taking of a view. Even the dead ends tended to have intriquite ice sculptures at the end, so it was worth getting a little lost and turned around to make sure he saw everything the maze had to offer.

When he finally made it to the center of the maze he froze. It looked so real, aside from the fact she was made of clear-blue ice. How had they made her so life like? Even the creatures fluttering around her could have been real. He would have believed it. He wasn't sure how long he stood there, just staring up at her. Not until a child bumped into him did he shake his head and look away. Wow, it really was something. He took a few different pictures from different angles, before leaving. He was almost sad to see her go, but he couldn't spend all day lost in this maze. He needed to go home at some point.

The sculptures he saw on his way out were still lovely, but they had lost of of their wonder after seeing the lady in the middle of the maze. Eventually he made it out. Staff were waiting at the other side, handing out gifts to everyone that exited. They looked just like the fairies that had been gliding around the lady in the middle of the maze. He was happy to accept one, though they looked quite delicate. A little shyly he asked if he might have another as well. Just in case he couldn't get Nischal to come to the maze, he could at least get him a gift. With two in hand he carefully made his way back to his home.
