Since the Winter Wonderland Carnival opened, there had been a section all the way in the back that remained blocked from view by wooden fences and blue tarps. Every now and then, sounds would be heard of an almost construction like nature but any questions were met with staff just telling passersby that it would be opening soon and to thank them for patience.
What in the world had not been ready in time for the opening?
Now, the fences are gone and the tarps removed allowing guests to see for the first time, the Winter Carnival’s pride and joy: An Ice Maze!
Eight Foot ice walls shoot up into the sky marking the entrance before returning to a mere seven foot the rest of the way through. Scattered throughout the maze are iced carvings ranging from the abstract to animal and human figures. Yet at the center was the true treasure: the figure of a woman made of pure ice resides in the middle looking out at all those who enter her maze with wonder. She appears as if she could almost step off her pedestal and speak with the people around. Even the small fairy like creatures carved around her appear to have their wings flutter in the glow of the twinkle lights hung above the maze center. There is something strangely alluring about her, and once you find her you may find yourself so captivated by her appearance that the rest of the world seems to disappear around you and you lose track of time. Thankfully, there are enough people that someone is bound to shake you out of your stupor...eventually.
Making it through the ice maze rewards you with a small little ice fairy sculpture, a souvenir and reminder for the evening. Each person is given one but if you ask nicely, they might just give you one or two more to take home as gifts. After all, who doesn’t want their own 12” tall dancing fairy made of crystal? After you exit the maze with your prize, you may find yourself dreaming of the beautiful icy woman in the center of the maze, watching you with her cool smile and cold eyes.

OOC: Anyone who does this prompt will walk away with an ice fairy sculpture. Each one of them is slight different from the other but they all bare certain similar traits: they are all made of clear crystal without any color, all of them have a single pair of fairy wings and every single one seems to bare a childlike smile.
You are welcome to go through the Maze multiple times to see different things and explore the sculptures within. While you will be rewarded each time with a fairy, only ONCE will count towards a raffle ticket!

The winter carnival was a big thing in the city, many people talking about it excitedly, and he had even told his family about it - especially his half sister. She had even asked him for pictures of it, something he’d happily obliged. He knew she, as well as the rest of his family, wanted to know how he was living and what went on in his life. They wanted to know him, even if they wouldn’t meet for a long time in person, and so he shared with them what he could. Sometimes he told his father a bit more, when he knew it was safe, but he did keep some details to himself….a lot in fact. He knew his father mostly wanted to know he was safe and well...that he wasn’t injured or anything. His father cared in the way he wished his mother had.
When he’d heard that the construction going on at the carnival was over, news did travel fast, he had hurried to the carnival grounds in order to check out the ice maze he’d heard was there. He wanted to see it and to take pictures, which was why he had a camera with him.
The maze was what most expected from a maze, they were fairly self explanatory, though the sculptures found scattered about the mazes interior were amazing. Someone, or a few someones, were really talented. When he did reach, what he assumed was the center, he found a lovely statue with several smaller ones. They looked different...like maybe more attention and detail had been afford them...but he wasn't sure. He did take pictures though at some point he did stop taking pictures and just stared...and stared.
It wasn’t until someone, a child, ran right into him that he was jolted out of whatever stupor he’d entered. He really had zoned out, more than he had a habit of doing at times, he didn’t even know why he’d zoned out so horribly but he had. Another picture of the fairy like children, and their faces, were taken before he continued through the maze. Moving to avoid the few children here and there, their parents or elder siblings shouting after them, he continued to take pictures along the way.
A family of penguins and polar bears there were other sculptures as well, all sorts of ones you’d expect to see, that one in the center still stood out though. He didn’t know what there was about it but he couldn’t get it out of his head. Maybe his sister would be able to put to words what was so holding about it. She was sure to like the pictures! He knew she would and he hoped the rest of his family did as well, he wanted them to see that he was ok here on his own and that he was enjoying himself. He didn’t want them to worry about him or think he should move to China and have a proper family around him.
This was his home and his father seemed to understand, even if the elder worried for him and didn’t like that he was involved in the same war he’d fought in. Xi-Wang just had to do his best to reassure his father he was ok, and safe, in Destiny City.
When he exited the maze someone was handing out statues, little mini ones, to everyone and he was quick in receiving one of his own. It looked like one of the little fairy children from the center of the maze. He was tempted to ask for one to send to his half sister, he really was slipping at times and thinking of her as his sister and not half sister, but that might mean someone else wouldn’t get one….But she should enjoy one also - right? It wasn’t her fault she couldn’t be here...she lived so far away.
So he did - he asked for another one. He was polite, always polite, when he asked for it. Holding the two statues close to himself, along with his camera, he headed home in a bit of a rush. He wanted to load the pictures and send them to his sister. He also wanted to have them printed over at the local CVS, he’d just have to pick them up later. He was sure there was at least one he could frame and put in his room.
