One of the stands at the Emporium's carnival seems to be constantly swarmed by people. Taking a closer look, you see that they're selling... hot buttered rum? There seems to be a butterscotch flavoring for those not old enough to drink, as well. What could be the big deal about it? You take a break from your busy life (or shopping or whatever it is that you’re doing) and decide to give the drink a try - and find that the secret recipe has the most curious of side effects! For whatever reason, the buttered rum has brought out a childlike side of you that you haven’t seen since… well, since you were a child! For the next twenty-four hours, your mood has lightened up tremendously and you’ve suddenly got the inquisitive, playful and energetic nature of someone half (or more!) of your age. What in the heck was in that drink?

As a cat, one was held back from doing a fair amount that otherwise, seemed rightly fun if not downright exciting. A normal cat might just be curious what their chosen human companions were up to, leaving when they realized food or pets would not be had. Or maybe they’d lay about basking in the passive attention as a cat won’t to do. Sadly, Enyo was not a normal cat by any means. She was mauvian. A special cat of magical ability and beyond, (at least in her opinion), human intellect. Going to this winter carnival seemed a good idea. Many people, of all ages, and all keen to pet a cute grey and white cat like her. A few well placed purrs had them eating out of her proverbial paws. Well, more she was eating out of their hands to be literal. A morsel here and nibble there. A few well places mews and paw pats got her a taste of many treats- some good, though a few could have been better.

As she circled another stall, her eyes took stock of the people. So far, none seemed to keen to the stray she portrayed, so she’d need a different angle. A jump up a nearby bin, (which smelled heavily of fried things), she saw her intended target. A beverage that seemed to be all the rage. How curious. There was an alcoholic variety and a non-alcoholic variety. She would try the boozy form first of course. Just a quick taste. A man with his girl friend noticed her and she bat her blue eyes at the woman who was cooing up a storm. Yes yes, Enyo thought, get on with it. The moment the drink got near, Enyo mewed for it, bapping at the air in it’s direction. The woman of course giggled and said it was for kitties. Too bad Enyo was no kitten. A playful jump and the woman jumped, drink spilling. Enyo preferred not to drink from the ground- alas. She’d hoped to miss or the woman to oh she didn’t know- keep ahold of her drink maybe?

People. Absolute idiots at times. Scoffing she slunk back into the shadows, eyes watching, biding her time. Eventually it came- some fool set his drink down and she darted into her opportunity, lapping at the creamy froth covered top. Rearing back she grimaced. Too sweet- not bad but far too sweet.

Blinking she wondered what else there was to do here. Her tail flicked maddingly back and forth as her eyes widened. She thought of Arthur- maybe he’d like to come out as well? They could climb a few trees, maybe tease a few people, cuddle up and get people to coo over them? Oh even better she could find Silk and they could run about and enjoy the festival rides! Surely the kitten would love that! She would.
Unaware of her newly drugged state, Enyo was a Cheshire grinning cat that was behaving much like a kitten. A fact later, she’d rue over embarrassedly.
