Quote: One of the stands at the Emporium's carnival seems to be constantly swarmed by people. Taking a closer look, you see that they're selling... hot buttered rum? There seems to be a butterscotch flavoring for those not old enough to drink, as well. What could be the big deal about it? You take a break from your busy life (or shopping or whatever it is that you’re doing) and decide to give the drink a try - and find that the secret recipe has the most curious of side effects! For whatever reason, the buttered rum has brought out a childlike side of you that you haven’t seen since… well, since you were a child! For the next twenty-four hours, your mood has lightened up tremendously and you’ve suddenly got the inquisitive, playful and energetic nature of someone half (or more!) of your age. What in the heck was in that drink? It was a chilly night, but that was a little obvious and thus Camelot did not point it out. He was fine, anyway, in his armor and his cape, but he worried that perhaps Shalott was not warm enough in her dress. He took his cape off, chivalrous to the last breath, and put it around her shoulders.
They were seated atop a roof over the carnival. Camelot insisted they patrol every night it was there, as he was sure something bad would happen. Something bad always happened. Yes, he was paranoid. No, that did not make him wrong.
He was going to be careful, either way.
And at the very least they could enjoy the stands and festivities at a distance. He loved this time of year, so he was all too happy to spend some time with her here. He spotted a stall he was interested in visiting, and waved his hand.
"Stay here a moment, I'll be right back."
He did not take long, and soon enough returned with his target. Two cups of buttered rum, secured from the stand. No one really gave his outfit a second look, as it was red and gold and people just thought he was a crazy christmas fan. The santa hat he chose to wear along with it helped in that. He sat down next to his wife again, offering her one of the hot cups.

It was nice to be able to go out in costume and it was doubly nice to be able to go out on patrol with her husband. He hardly needed to offer his cloak against the cold, she had one of her own, but all the same she smiled and accepted it gracefully because he loved her. He took care of her so terribly well most of the time. It was a good reason to love him. The lights and colors of the carnival were delightful and she enjoyed watching people rushing around enjoying themselves. Sarah would have loved it but, alas, she was at home with a big sister babysitter.
It was nice to have Harmony home for the holidays.
He might have been paranoid, but she couldn't say she was complaining about the view. It was life in front of them, joy. People bustled through and she loved watching them have fun. If he thought something bad was about to happen, she hoped not. It was too nice of a season to be subject to magic trickery.
"Alright, darling."
She sat while he made his way down to the crowds, watching as he moved through hardly noticed. He made for a dashing figure no matter where he went and even after their years of marriage by now, she still couldn't take her eyes off of him. He always made her feel safe and whole and even with all this time between them she didn't feel like she was adequately able to express how much he meant to her. A gift was at home sitting under the tree waiting to try.
"Oh, perfect! This is just what the doctor ordered."
She took the cup and let it warm her hands, not realizing how cold they'd been until she had the hot cup in them. She took a sip, and then another, taking it slow but enjoying the heat and taste. Still, she was not a heavy drinker and wanted to take things slowly.
"Tony, let's have a second honeymoon. I've been giving it a lot of thought and I think we can make it work. Just a week on a beach somewhere in the sand. What do you say?"

Camelot chuckled and relaxed a bit, though he kept his senses keen. He was not about to let someone sneak up on them just because they were having a nice drink together. Not that he imagined anyone would try it. A Royal Knight aura and a Knight aura sitting together was probably not the most tactical of targets for most.
It was one of the few good things about being unable to hide his aura. At least most knew to stay away, as far as Chaos was concerned.
He took a sip of the drink to taste it and quickly decided it was one of the best drinks he'd had in some time. He was a bit more of a drinker than Kyndall was, but he never took it too far these days. As a family man, and a respectable librarian, he had a certain amount of duty even outside his life as a knight. Plus, he'd gotten in a lot of trouble because of alcohol in his youth.
Days probably best left long behind him.
"Second honeymoon?" He looked thoughtful, wanting to take a vacation, but not sure he was in a position to. "That's a lot of time to be away... as much as I would love to have a break... and with you... do you think we'd be able to find the time?"

"Tony, the world isn't going to explode if you take a vacation."
Kyn shook her head, sighing a little bit at his protest. As much as he liked to believe the world was on his shoulders, generally it wasn't. He was a busy man wearing many hats, it was true, but she generally believed that things would continue to move along without them. Nathan and Elle could take Sarah for the week. The other workers at the library could help take up the slack and all of the knights and senshi would have to make sure that Destiny City kept going while they were sunning on a beach somewhere, preferably with a fruity cocktail in her hand.
"I've done some tinkering with our schedules and I think we can make it work. We can call it a late birthday present."
Her birthday was nearly a week earlier.
She ended up taking another large sip of her drink, noticing a sweetness she hadn't before. Actually...this was pretty good. She shrugged and started doing more than sip at it. Her body felt like it was thawing out a bit which was good. Experimentally she stretched, his cape falling off her shoulders as she raised them to the sky.
"I don't see why you're so hesitant to take a vacation, Tony. I think it'll be really good for us to reconnect. We haven't had any time alone, really, since our first honeymoon."
Between being pregnant, all the trouble with Painite, Elle's transformation, Harmony's journey of self discovery and the multiple injuries and strange occurrences that plagued their lives it had been quite a while since their last significant vacation. The emerald haired woman got up from her perch, stepping over his cloak, and walked around the rooftop while looking up at the stars. It reminded her of her wonder, of the clear blue skies in the day and the myriad of stars at night. For some reason it made her feel restless and she gave him a look she hadn't since they were dating - daring and carefree, despite their conversation.
"I don't think you're attracted to me anymore, the old ball and chain," she teased.

Tony's cup was gone faster than he thought it would be. It was very good, and maybe the conversation was a little more stressful than he wanted it to be. It was a simple topic, after all, but thinking about leaving his duties was hard for him. It always had been: he was very tied to the things he felt responsible for. He would just need a little more convincing to sway.
Even if sunlight seemed like a great temptation right now, in the cold of winter.
"Hey, of course I'm attracted to you. You know that," he smiled at her lovingly, as he did every day, but he felt like he was looking at her for the first time all over again. She really was beautiful, and he saw her for more than just the beauty of her face. He knew how good a person she was, and how good a mother. He knew all the brave and caring things she did, as a knight, and as a person.
He followed her as she moved, putting his arms around her and hugging her to him. He stole a kiss, lingering there for a while and smiling against her lips before he pulled back.
"Let's forget about taking a vacation in the future, and do something fun tonight, huh? Just for now, we can talk about the rest later. Maybe in the morning. I'm all warmed up now, from that drink, and I think we deserve some fun. Come on, I just want to grab another cup and then we can find something to do!"

He was quick to deny it, which was good. She chuckled as he came near her and snuggled into his arms. There was where her life made the most sense and it was there she usually wanted to stay. She kissed him sweetly and smiled, shaking her head as he prattled on. It was charming and what he proposed was very appealing. It was a lot better than sitting on the roof waiting for something bad to happen, anyway, and if he wanted to put off the conversation then that was fine.
"What's gotten into you besides far too much booze?" She joked, sidestepping. "Alright, an impromptu date."
She powered down dressed as she had been for the day, not very fancy, but enough to have some fun in. She offered her hand for him to whisk them both to the street or to power down with her. She hadn't felt any chaos signatures so she was fairly confident that they were safe from detection.
"What do you have in mind?"
Most of their dates were of the standard fare - dinner and a movie or a show. Somehow, that didn't sound as appealing as it usually did. She wanted to do something fun, and possibly a little dangerous.

"Too much? My love, you have not known me to be too full of booze just yet: I'm sure you'd be surprised by how wild I used to get." He gave her a grin, one that curled in such a devious way that it made his green eyes light up with nothing but trouble. He took her hands in his, pulling her along into a small dance before spinning her and then tugging her back to him for a fiery kiss.
He let her power down, but remained in his own Royal Knight form for a moment longer. Catching her plan, he picked her up gallantly and hopped his way down to the floor below, landing in the alley and keeping to the shadows for now. There were no auras around, at least not within a worrisome range, so he powered down to join his wife in civilian attire.
A night off, and all that. A knight off? He grinned, but realized he hadn't said the joke out loud, and shrugged it off instead of trying to fix the problem. He took her over to the stand to get a refill, or rather a fresh cup, and finally considered her question.
He had the strangest urge to ignore everything he had trained himself to be, at least for the night, and do all the bad things he had no business doing at his age. Maybe she would think he was cool, if he could show her how much fun he had as a younger man. Days long gone by, and all that. Plus, she never knew him then, and had missed out on when he used to be all confidence and hold no regard to consequences.
When he was like any other rebel youth of his generation, of course.
"Let's do something stupid. What do you think? No stuffy librarian tonight, eh? We'll have some fun!" He took her hand, leading her away from the crowds, though he was not sure yet just what he wanted to do.
