Personality: Like all fairy godmothers, Marigold has a sense of empathy as well as a maternal and wise attitude. However, Marigold is a bit more charismatic than the average person - enough to land her a job as an actress. Futhermore, she responds to insults and sarcasm with blunt jokes of her own. Unlike most fairy godmothers, she will not instantly curse someone if they upset her - preferring to get both sides of the story before jumping to conclusions.
History: Marigold was born a long time ago. One of her first duties was to help a crying princess in a kingdom far from France. The prince she loved was more of a warrior who enjoyed fighting beasts outside the castle walls. However, with hope - Marigold appeared and gave the princess the power to bend light/radiant magic to help heal her prince's wounds. The timing couldn't have been better. The next day, the Princess ended up saving the Prince's life by using magic to heal him. Soon after they were wed and had a daughter they named Lillian Ambrose.
Years have passed and Marigold has kept a close eye on the Ambrose family while trying to secretly help others in town. In order to keep the fact she's a fairy godmother a secret, Marigold has taken on the identity of a human actress and lives in a large house she conjured in a forest by the beach. The house if often kept invisible and can only be opened with Marigold's wand and the magic words.
Weaknesses:
- Allergies - Due to being a powerful type of fairy, she is allergic to things a human typically wouldn't be. These include but are not limited to - Citrus fruit, Silver, and types of mildly poisonous bugs (such as mosquitoes). They will often burn her skin or leave rashes. She is also has a strange reaction to cream (whipped cream on desserts) and will often act a bit loopy if she ingests it.
Lack of Human Knowledge - Marigold can come off as condescending or snobbish to humans. While she has been in the human world long enough to know the basics (even having a human job as an actress), she still doesn't fully understand the concepts of human morale and will often make rash decisions. She has also dreamed of falling in love with a prince herself, but doesn't know that royalty isn't that common these days. (Though, over time, she'll probably learn the fact someone is a prince wont matter)
Strengths:
- Wish Granting - Much like the fairies from sleeping beauty and Cinderella, Marigold can gift people with physical objects (such as a gown or slippers) or non-physical objects (such as the gift of beauty or song). However, these spells have a time limit whether they last only a few hours or one lifetime. These spells can also be broken by other fairy godmothers. Marigold had gifted the princess in her backstory with the gift of light. (After a person who received a gift dies or becomes cursed, the gift is often passed on to their children or another member related to the family by blood.)
Fairy Godmother physiology - Much like the Enchantress from Beauty and the Beast; Marigold can fly, shape-shift, teleport, create curses, and enchant pre-existing objects. She also has a high empathy and can see inside someone's heart. Usually the curses she casts are meant to teach people a lesson so that the darkness can leave their hearts. These curses are often broken by true love's kiss.
Superior Willpower - Since Marigold is female and a powerful fairy, she is immune to siren songs and forms of mind control. Fairy Godmothers are meant to be embodiment of hope. Therefore the light in their own hearts is difficult to manipulate or break. At times, Marigold can break mind control or hypnosis spells off of someone else - even if they are a shred of their former self. (sealed away)
Wand - Being a fairy godmother or an enchantress means you have a wand. It can be summoned from thin air and works as a medium to transfer magic to the physical world. Most basic spells involve light magic or portals. Expert fairy godmother's can cast magic with their hands, but Marigold can only use her hands to teleport and heal injuries. If her wand breaks or is destroyed, it will take awhile for her to summon a replacement.
