Quote:
New Year's Eve has gone awry for you when pretty snowflakes turn into an ugly snowstorm in a matter of minutes. Your walk through the snow (to wherever it is that you were headed to celebrate the new year at) is becoming less magical by the minute and judging by the size of the hail pieces, you need to get out of it fast before you find yourself on the receiving end of some vicious bruises.

Unfortunately, the wind and the snow have made it impossible to navigate through and after a series of twists, turns and attempts to shield yourself from the storm, you find yourself on the doorstep of a clearly neglected cabin-type house. You're not sure where it came from but you don't have much choice but to make your way inside to avoid the fierce weather.

Inside, there's enough wood to make a fire in the fireplace, a small cot with a few dusty quilts, some half-burned candles and several canned goods (all that seem decently aged). You might even be able to find some alcohol hidden away, if you're lucky.

Judging by the way the wind is howling and the snow is piling up, though, it looks like you're going to be bringing in the new year stuck in this unfortunate place - better make due with what you've got!

Hadaya very much enjoyed going to the snow to play with Elle and Nate, but they got a little distracted and he decided that maybe he should find something fun to do alone for a while. They were on a date, and he had learned the hard way that sometimes he was not all that welcome on dates. At least, not as far as Nathan was concerned. He was never mean, not any more, but they had both learned enough about the other to understand where the lines were.

So, in an effort to let the two love birds enjoy themselves, and because Hadaya had the attention span of a cat and saw something flitting over the snow in a very alluring way, he bounced off into the trees.

Short legs and a tubby stomach did not make for easy travel, especially through thick, fresh snow, but Hadaya was doing his best. Instead of running, he was sort of hopping his way through the woods, getting closer to what he discovered was a small bird for a moment before it flew just out of his reach. He didn’t want to hurt it! He just wanted to look at it!

Up close! Maybe touch it.

“Come back, Mr. Bird! You’re too fast!”

Whining softly, Hadaya had to stop for a breath of air, noting it had gotten a lot colder and the snow was falling pretty heavily now. He looked back and was surprised to see that most of his doofy path of body flops into the snow had been erased by the fresh fall. He had no real trail back, save a few feet, and even the newer holes were being filled up.

Uh oh.

Something really painful smacked him on the head, and he let out a yelp, looking up and realizing STONES were falling from the sky. Another one hit him and he yeowled in protest, leaping into as best a run as he could manage so he could find some place out of the storm. Where had it come from and why was it so mean?! He felt hail bouncing off of him at different times, a particularly big one hitting him right on the soft spot above his tail and causing him to cry out.

“NAVI?!” He hoped she was out there looking for him, but somehow he doubted it. He was running blindly, not sure which direction he was going, and spotted a small cabin not too far from where he was. Salvation! He dug his way toward it, all but swimming through the snow and getting pummeled by the hail.

It took a lot of doing, but he was able to wiggle his way through a partially opened window. Half frozen, and exhausted, he let himself fall to the floor on the other side of the window. He landed on soft enough carpet, panting heavily and crawling a couple more inches in just to get completely clear of the window. He didn’t want that evil sky stone stuff to break through the glass and get him from there.

He was too tired to look around the cabin at the moment, breathing heavily and whimpering as he curled into a tight, frosty ball on the floor.

Periclase had been pretty proud of herself for going out to patrol in this cold…though…she was growing less proud of herself by the moment as the snowstorm she suddenly had found herself in. There had been a cute couple she had been planning on draining but she had lost sight of them pretty quickly in the whipping winds and when the hail began to rain down on her, she sorely wished that she were stronger so that she could teleport herself out of this mess.

After a few minutes of blindly running, she realized that she had absolutely no idea where she was going, and when she saw the dark shape of the cabin, she let out a half sob, half sigh of relief.

She wouldn’t freeze to death tonight.

Small comfort.

It took two laps around the small house before the corrupted senshi could find the door, and when she finally did, it took three tries to finally open it with her half frozen hands. Finally though, she was inside, and the door was shut firmly behind her. It was cold in the cabin, but there was no wind…well.
Almost no wind.

A window was opened and the first thing the half frozen girl did was run over and shut it firmly, shivering and looking around.

It took almost a whole minute before she saw the small, furry catsicle on the ground, and another few seconds of stupidly staring at it to realize that…it wasn’t an ordinary cat.

And it really wasn’t a chaos cat.

Damn.

Hadaya did not hear the door being forced open, though he should have thought about trying it himself. Of course, with such short legs, no thumbs, and not being the best jumper around, he probably would not have even been able to reach the door knob anyway. He knew other cats could open them, but he had yet to learn the method.

Anyway, he was too tired and cold to think about stuff like that. Too complicated. He just wanted to be warm. Actually, he really just wanted to go home. But that was not going to happen any time soon.

Not until the storm cleared up, and he started feeling his toe beans again.

He did realize there was someone with him, though, when the wind from the window was suddenly cut off with a slam. He opened one eye and looked up to see some feet, but was unable to look much further up while wrapped in his defensive ball of almost warmth. Shivering, he nuzzled against his furry arm tighter.

The aura hit him suddenly, and he let out a loud, pitiful whine.

"P-p-please don't h-hurt me," he stammered, though it was only half because of fear that his words were shaking. The intense cold had something to do with it, though now he was hoping the cabin would help warm him up now that all the doors and windows seemed to be closed.

Being warm would do him no good if a Chaos senshi tried to hurt him or worse.

Periclase hesitated for a long moment and said nothing, trembling slightly and taking a long look around the one roomed cabin.

There were blankets…and some wood…and a fireplace. The cat was right between her and the wood though and with a sigh, she moved towards him, keeping her eyes firmly on the wood and when she stepped over him, she let out a slow breath, happy that nothing had happened.

…Not that she had been really worried. No, that would have been stupid.

Quickly, she filled the fireplace with wood, and put some of the newspaper that sat by the wood pile into the cracks. Clearly all of those old timey movies were actually coming in handy now. She glanced around and when she found a lighter, she gave a relieved sigh, getting back up to grab it, and then lighting the newspapers, silently praying that the logs would catch fire. If she could just get warm enough to think…she could figure out what to do with this cat.

…Maybe throw him in the fire and have herself a snack? Knock it out with some wood and bring it to Stella maybe? She would know what to do in this situation…

Finally, when the logs had caught the flames, Periclase relaxed and finally took a look at the shivering cat. She sighed and rolled her eyes, getting back up and dragging a wooden rocking chair over towards the fire, hoping that it started giving off some heat sooner rather than later. There were blankets though, and she grabbed two, pulling one over herself and sitting down.

“Cat. Come here.”

She could be civil. Kind of.

Hadaya was shivering and had no intention of coming out of his scared, cold, protective ball state unless he absolutely had to. He had the will of a... whatever had a lot of will, he was sure of it, and he could withstand anything she tried to do to coax him out of his defense.

"Ok," he mewed helplessly when she told him to come over, crawling out of his coil and scooting, stomach still on the floor, toward the warmth of the fire. He did not need an invitation to bounce up, with some scrabbling, onto the chair she was sitting in and climb into her lap. He coiled up again, though this time a less dense ball.

He cuddled against her, seeking warmth from her and the blankets, and getting a boost from the fire. After a short moment, a soft, rumbling purr began to emanate from him.

"My name is Hadaya," he said softly, still aching from the hail pelting him on his way to this cabin. He decided he hated all weather except mildly warm, clear skies. Everything else was just too difficult for a cat of his upbringing. AKA a sissy with short legs and a fat tummy.

"It's getting warmer. That's good. Thank you." He nuzzled her appreciatively, purrs growing louder. Apparently the chaos aura did little to dampen his cuddle need.

Periclase watched him, seeming almost amused when he waddled over, and a little surprised when he clambered into her lap with no fuss at all.

Gently, she wrapped the round beast in the extra blanket and held him gently, one hand beginning to stroke his slightly damp fur when he began to purr and for a long while, she sat in comfortable silence, letting the warmth permeate all the way through her. “I’m Periclase, but you can call me Peri. You’re cute, Hadaya.”

And he was…even though he was obviously on the wrong side of things. “…You know, if you wanted, I could bring you to the right side of things and you could be my cat. I woudn’t mind having you in my lap every night…your purrs are so loud and soothing.”

They really were though…and combined with the blankets and the fire, Peri felt herself being gently drawn towards sleep. “What a stupidly awful storm though…are you okay? You didn’t get hurt…?”

She wasn’t sure why she was so worried…there was no real reason to be…except for the fact it was a very cute cat…regardless of its stance on the war.

Hadaya was not picky about who and what he was allowed to cuddle, so long as it was human. White Moon, Dark Mirror, Negaverse: everyone could be nice to a kitty, right? Even some other animals were okay, too, like Dogby and Gizmo, so clearly the 'human' thing was not even necessary all the time.

He was not sure if he had ever tried to cuddle a youma, but he did have a best friend that was half youma so even that was not out of his reach. And his paws were so short!

The purr was at full volume now, and he sighed heavily in a content, happy way. All his purrs came out on the sigh, as well, filling the room with strange, but very happy, noises.

"I already have an owner, but I appreciate the thought. I like where I am right now, if that's okay. We can still be friends, though, okay? I don't think you're on the wrong side, I think you just see things differently. My senshi did, too, but then she met someone she loved and she joined us. I kind of wish that was what could happen to everyone. Don't you think that would be a nice way for things to be healed? Everyone just... finds what makes them happy and the war ends. That would be okay with me."

He was babbling, but he was sleepy and warm, and still coming down from the adventure outside. Outside was just awful: he really needed to be an indoor cat.

Peri nodded slowly. “That’s a pity though.” She murmured about him already having an owner. Though…corruption did things to your memories right? Wasn’t that what she had been told? So in theory, he wouldn’t even remember his owner but…

Her thoughts were cut off as he began to talk about how his senshi had joined the white moon and a small frown crossed her face. “Well…” The corrupt’s voice had gone quiet, and she felt that she had to choose her words carefully. “I mean…that’s good for her, I guess…but I’m…already in love so…”

So it didn’t matter but…

Peri’s lips pursed slightly and she shrugged after a long moment. “…Her and the person she loved are together? Just the two of them? And they’re happy together…just the two of them?”

He didn’t pull her along on a string and pick up other people that obviously felt the same sense of attraction too?

…Lucky girl.

“…You warming up okay, Hadaya…? You sound like you’re happy, dumb motorboat.” There was undisguised affection in the last statement though, and clearly his purrs were making her feel even better than the fire was.

"Well and me!" Hadaya perked up a bit, looking up at her and continuing to purr. He had a sleepy, content look on his face, and he was slowly kneading the blanket as he warmed up. Now he was just too comfortable to want to go anywhere, any trace of fear gone.

"They're together, and very very happy. They're engaged now! I'm just happy she's so happy. Everyone deserves that. If you're in love already then that's really good too, I'm glad to hear it. You seem very nice, so you should enjoy
being loved,too."

He rubbed her affectionately, pretty much deciding they were best friends now. Really, it did not take much.

"I'm just hungry now," he said, in answer to her asking if he was okay. He was always hungry, but she did not need to know that. The fact that he had a full dinner before he came out that night was not important at all to the moment at hand. Getting pelted by ice rocks made a cat hungry!

Of course. And him.

She shook her head, giving a soft scoff, though holding him a little closer. “Of course. I’m…happy for them.” And not a little jealous. Peri’s mind wondered for a moment, thinking of the stolen kisses from the blonde that she had so freely given her heart to.

When his next words finally registered in her mind, she paused and chuckled softly, standing and wrapping the cat more snugly in the blanket before placing him in her vacated spot on the rocking chair. “Let me see if there’s food then, Hadaya. I don’t want you to have to go hungry…but I can’t imagine there being much to eat here…”

Quietly, and much less stiffly, Periclase began to move around the cabin, taking in what was available. There were a few cupboards, one with the door sagging a few inches lower but…

“Ah. You might be in luck, cat. I see cans, I think. Maybe there’s something edible here.”

Though she opened the cabinet carefully, the door still broke off in her hand and clattered to the ground with a noise that was far too loud in the quiet little house, and the shriek of fear from her own mouth was equally as loud, but after a moment she cleared her throat and looked embarrassed.”…Whoops. But! Hey it looks like there’s tuna…and…oh…” It was out of date…but surprisingly only a few months so.

“It’s a little old but…” But it shouldn’t be so bad.

Oh, and there was wine…not that she was old enough to drink but…who was going to stop her?

Hadaya let out a whine when she said she would get up to go find food. That did not work for him, as it meant being moved from this perfect little bubble of heat and comfort. He wiggled his little feet, almost swimming, when she picked him up, but sighed and tried to make due with the chair once she inevitably got up.

It was just not a good substitute for a lap.

Sitting up, still rumbling away with his purrs, he watched her curiously as she moved around the cabin. He had not really taken a look around the place before, too cold and scared to do much of anything but become a ball of fur on the floor. Now his curiosity was getting the better of him, and he moved to hope down from the chair.

Or rather, climb down backwards. He was bad at jumping, and distances hurt his feet, so he opted to lower his butt off the chair first and reach for the floor with his back foot. Once he was able to feel a solid place beneath him, he lowered himself down to the ground carefully. He almost made it before the sound of the door breaking off the cabinet made him yelp, let go of the chair, and fall to the floor.

He landed on his back, like a turtle, and wiggled around helplessly. The blanket fell on top of him.

"Help!" He yelped, though he was sort of laughing as he struggled with the blanket, "short leg emergency! But don't forget the tuna!"
PostPosted: Sat Dec 29, 2018 7:22 am

Periclase paused and glanced over, one hand reaching up for the bottle of wine, and then burst out laughing when she saw the loaf shaped, blanket covered lump on the floor.

She grabbed the bottle and the can of tuna and made her way over, tugging the blanket off of the poor mauvian and rolling him over with a gentle prod of her toe. “Short leg emergency…oh that’s a good one, Hadaya. I’ll be chuckling about that for days, I’m sure.”

The corrupt tucked the bottle of wine under her arm and held the tuna in the same hand, bending down and scooping up both cat and blanket before going and sitting in the chair again.

The wine was set onto the floor as she first made the cat back into a purrito, and then opened the tuna, holding it within reach of his round little kitty face.

“Don’t worry. I would never forget the tuna for you.”

That can be a FIN I think

Hadaya rolled as she helped him, looking up at her and giving her his best kitty smile. He padded over and rubbed her legs appreciatively, though he could not wrap his tail around like a normal cat might because he simply did not have one.

Ah well, the affection was still there.

His purrs grew louder as she picked him up, and he snuggled up to her again, content to be warm. He was not bothered if she wanted to drink: it wasn't like he was going to tell anyone. And anyway, after facing that storm and all that hail, it was a good time for it. Even if he was more eager for the tuna rather than the wine.

Eating would probably put him in the same kind of mood, anyway. Warm, content, sleepy. He sniffed it eagerly and wiggled his way to it as she offered him the can, dumping his face into it and chowing down happily. His purrs got distorted by the can and the action of eating, but he was not about to let them stop. He was just a weird sound machine, and was content to spend the rest of the evening this way, until the storm let them leave.

It promised to be a very nice night, all told.
