There’s a simple booth with a simple looking girl sitting on the edge of the wooden counter. Behind her lay a small army of cheerful looking plastic snowmen. She’s attempting to beckon you over to her game by shaking bright and colorful tinsel… wreaths? Shaped like rings, it’s not hard to guess what sort of game she’s selling.

In exchange for a dollar, she gives you five mini tinsel-wreaths to hang on to. If you’re lucky enough to land on at least one of the snowmen, then you win a prize!

User Image

Rules:

Roll 5d20 for each post to toss your tinsel wreaths. If you land on one of the special numbers, your tinsel wreath will successfully have made it securely around one of the snowmen’s large top hats. If you get a number next to one of the winning numbers, it means your wreath was close… but not quite.

The winning numbers are: 1, 5, 10, 15, 20.

  • You may continue randomizing numbers even if you win one up to a max of 5 tries per character. The three characters with the most successful “tosses” will win a special IC RP item. If you manage to win at least one toss, you’ll win a prize as well!

  • Characters may combine prizes to swap up for a larger prize, but only one person may keep the larger prize in the end!

  • Please do not delete posts! If you mess up, note it in your post and roll again.

  • If you manage to reach 500 words throughout your posts for a single character you may use it to earn you a ticket in the Holiday Raffle Thread, as well as a regular requirement for your character. You may only claim one raffle ticket no matter how many characters you participate with in this thread.

  • If you have any questions, please PM Destiny City.

  • This game thread will close on December 29th at 11:59pm EST.

  • Reindeer Antler Headband - Made of felt and mostly average. Some have glitter accents while others contain small, dangling jingle bells.

  • Miniature Top Hat - Either attached to a headband or fastened in place with a thin strip of elastic, you'll look dapper with this accessory gracing your brow. Available with an assortment of decorations-- ribbons, pine cones, anything particularly festive.*

    * Feel free to make / color your own Top Hat! All layers are easily edited, and you are free to add in any decorations you'd like that aren't there already!

  • Jingle Bell Bracelet - Available in a variety of colors. You too can jingle jangle through the winter wonderland, proud that you've managed to win something.

  • Reindeer Pillow Plush - About a foot and a half wide. Round and almost jolly-- super soft and comforting to squish. [Only available for three successfully tossed rings.]

  • Oversized Snowman Plush - Roughly three feet tall and entirely unnecessary unless you like super squishy, overly soft pillow-like plushes-- in which case, a must have! [Only available for five successfully tossed rings.]

Turn: 1 / 5 (0 rings)

Games.

Teddi was maybe not the best at games, but she was still eager to try them, regardless. And this festive carnival, with its array of brightly colored lights, garlands of holly, and apple and cinnamon smelling stands, was exactly the sort of thing that she absolutely adored.

Decked out in a pair of white jeans white cableknit sweater, flufy white gloves, fuzzy brown boots, and a Santa hat that clashed magnificently with her pink hair, Teddi made her way towards the nearest of the game stands, clasping her hands together in front of her. She surveyed everything with a sort of wide-eyed, bright interest, giving the girl behind the booth a beaming sort of smile.

"I'm going to try this!" she declared, and was handed a handful of tinsel wreathes with the sort of deadpan regularity that indicated that this was such a regular occurrence, speech wasn't even necessary anymore. Teddi gave her a cheery wave, and then made her way over to stand where the snowmen were.

"Okay," she said, speaking mostly to herself, since she was pretty sure her audience could have cared less, and that was fine. "Okay, now I just - I just throw this - "

The first one came close.

The second one - not so much.

The third one aaaalmost -

The fourth one sort of petered out and gave up halfway through.

And finally the last one, which nearly reached its goal, and then fell just short. Teddi clapped her hands together again, bouncing up and down on the heels of her booted feet, debating. Then she reached into her pocket and pulled out another crumpled dollar and passed it to the girl.

"Okay, take two!"

Turn: 2 / 5 (1 ring)

Take two was better than take one, because she actually got a tinsel wreath around the snowman's plastic head. Teddi made a frantic, happy clapping noise as the girl behind the counter probably resisted a strong urge to roll her eyes.

"There, see?" Teddi took the offered prize ticket. "I knew I could do it."

A debate, and then -

"Okay, another dollar, another turn!"

Turn: 3 / 5 (4 rings)

Third time was the charm, right?

As it turned out - yes, third time was the charm.

Teddi gave a squeal of delight, hopping bodily up and down this time, and nearly reached out to grab the girl around the shoulders to give her a big, squishing hug, but resisted at the very last second, because some people didn't like to be touched, and that was okay.

"Another try!" she declared brightly instead.

Turn: 4 / 5 (4 rings)

She possibly liked this game a little too much, but it was the holidays, and being excited for fun holiday things was the whole point, wasn't it?

She was also so close and yet so far.

Turn: 5 / 5 (6 rings)

Two more rings on her very last turn. Teddi let out a whoop of glee and promptly skipped over to where the girl was sitting, smiling so brightly at her, it was probably a little blinding.

"Ready to claim my prize now!!" she said gleefully.

Needless to say, she walked out with a giant snowman squashed in her arms.

Amigar was loving this Christmas since the town seemed to be bustling with things to do. It was almost like the town was coming alive. She was seeing everything from sweet delicious hot cocoa being served to magical carriage rides to even fun games.

Just as she thought about games, since noticed one that looked really fun. The sign said Tinsel Toss - which was intriguing on it's own to her. Now she wasn't great at games, but she figured she might as well give it a shot while she was here. After all then she could tell her parents all about it, when they got home from France.

Wearing her purple dress and heart scarf she quickly rushed over to the starting area. thankfully there wasn't really a line so it was her turn pretty quickly.

"hello there,"
she said kindly to the girl behind the game as she walked up towards the booth and handed the girl behind it a dollar. The girl smiled taking her dollar and put the wreathes on counter.

"Well here goes nothing," she said as she picked up a handful of mini tinsel wreathes and balanced them on her right arm.

With a small breath she tossed the first one and then the next. As she finished she looked. She had made one. Not to bad for her first try, but she wasn't going to give up yet. Since she wanted a cute plushie to add to her collection at home.

So she head over to the girl again ready to try again.

Turn 2/5 (rings: 4 )

She was determined to do better this time. After all she wanted that cute snowman and nothing was going to stop her from getting it.

She walked over to the girl and handed her another dollar. placed the wreathes on her arms and lined up. This time she was careful to take her time. She took the first wreath off her arm, took a deep breath, and tried to line it up with her goal.

"I can do this..." she said to herself.

As she let out a breath she released the first wreath ... sadly it didn't make it but as she let out the next ones. She made three in a row!

"woohoo!"
she said happily as she jumped up and down. she was definitely getting better and she refused to stop now. Not only was she going to get this snowman but she also wanted to see how many see could get all together.

She quickly handed the lady another dollar, "thank you" she said getting ready for her next turn.

Turn 3/5 (rings: 6)

Well they say the third time is the charm so she hoped they were right as she threw her first ring. She hit it on the nose and was officially able to claim the snowman plush, but she refused to stop there as she threw the next one.

That one didn't really go so well after that she made one more but the rest were duds.

"Oh well,"
she said with a smile as she was super happy she reached her goal. Though since she had nothing else to do she figured she still do her last few tries before claiming her prize. After all she was having a blast throwing these rings.

Turn 4/5 (rings: 8 )

So this was definitely more fun then she let on. Since she already had enough to get the cute snowman she figured she might as well try some crazy throws. So she did the craziest throws she could and hoped for the best.

Turn 5/5 (rings 10)

Well her last try was here. Hopefully this would be her best yet. This was really getting her a Christmas mood and she couldn't wait to make some tinsel wreath deserts when she got back. Maybe she could even use them for the staff party.

As she threw them all she was thrilled to get two more putting her total at ten made.

"Well that was so much fun," she said as she rushed over to the lady behind the counter. "I would love a snowman please!" she was so happy she had made her goal but not only that she had so much.

As she was handed her snowman she hugged it tightly and headed off to see what she could find next. Hopefully something that was half as fun as this game was.

Kathryn McAdams Roll 1: (1 Ring)

Kathryn had been taking it easy the last few months. Having remembered what happened last Halloween caused her to shelter away from any festivities that had been planned. Of course sheltering away had led to going stir crazy at times and once more wondering about the decisions she had made.

Now however Kathryn simply had found herself out and about enjoying the sights and sounds of the Christmas season. The Winter Wonderland extravaganza had set up just blocks from where she lived and perhaps feeling more than enough of the spirit of the holidays she had taken an afternoon just to wander around the event. Her gaze stopped on a simple carnival-esque booth in which a young girl was running a game of ring toss. Eyeing the prizes Kathryn eagerly handed over the required amount of currency in order to throw some festive wreaths. Taking her time to line up each throw Kat frowned. It seemed that she would need to work on her aim some more. Though one ring out of five for a first round wasn't too bad.

Kathryn McAdams Roll 2: 0 rings
First Roll - 1 Ring

How did careful aiming end up with such disastrous results? Taking ones time in lining up a shot should have guaranteed at least one wreath finding its home onto the snowman's hat and yet as Kathryn felt her frustration rise she glanced at the girl running the booth and bit back the urge to comment how the game was seemingly rigged. Her aim had been good and yet none of the wreaths had stuck. One or two had been close and yet they'd just fallen to the wayside. Glowering at the wreaths that had been thrown Kathryn grimaced before digging into her pocket again.

She'd show these snowmen who was boss or get frustrated enough to rage quit.

Kathryn McAdams Roll 3: 2 rings
First Roll - 1 Ring
Second - 0 rings

So ruling out careful aiming from the last round of thrown wreaths Kathryn focused more on aiming towards the same snowman this time. It would work better if she could get the feel of how to throw the wreath in order for it to ring the felt-tip hats that she was aiming for. Wetting her lips in preparation Kathryn flung the first wreath and watched as it sailed close to a hat but inevitably fell short. Locking that feeling of failure in her mind for the next throw Kat managed to still miss the target. Swallowing back the frustration that loomed to being down her amicable feelings towards this game she randomly tossed the third wreath and was bolstered when it settled in the place it was meant to go. Throwing caution to the wind Kat attempted to throw the next two wreaths in the same careless manner and frowned when the first missed but gave a half smile as the second one caught another snowman's hat.

If she was keeping track as well as she believed it was now possible that she had enough rings for the reindeer pillow plush. And yet she wanted to try and get that snowman plush. It'd be quite the prize to lug home. Putting down another dollar Kathryn prepared to throw her next set of wreaths.
