Fresh snow has fallen over Destiny City for the third time this week; most people seem to have stayed inside today due to a particularly heavy flurry, but you find yourself outside tonight for some reason. The weather has faded, revealing a sparkling night sky. Much of the ground is covered in a crisp layer of snow--but more than that, beautiful flowers in the shape of snowflakes have sprouted in the ground. They grow in small patches and permeate a pleasant, sweet fragrance. If the flowers are not kept in freezing temperatures, they melt, but fur the duration of their lifespan they are beautiful, fragile things. In such a busy metropolis, isn't it nice to take a moment to take a moment and appreciate nature? Even if there does seem to be something a little magical about this?
Bluebell was out late that night. She only had a few more months to enjoy the life of a teenager. Soon she'd be busy with college applications, tests, probably getting a job somewhere. So, when she'd be invited to the park to play a friendly snowball fight in the snow, she hadn't been able to turn it down. She enjoyed the snow a lot more in Destiny City then she remembered enjoying it back in New York. New York snow tended to be dirty from all the traffic and plowing. Here, it was a beautiful, magical sheet of wonder. She had worked up quite a sweat too, despite the cold. Her team had won, of course. They were all surprised by her tenacity. For such a small person, she sure put up a fight. It wasn't like she could tell them why she was so good at something like this. She was just lucky, that's all.
Things were wrapping up now though, truthfully they all hadn't realized how much time had passed by. Her parents were used to her coming home late, but this time at least she wouldn't have to lie about it. As she was making her way through the park though she noticed the little flowers in bloom all around her. How she had missed them before she didn't know. Curiously ,she walked over to a small patch of them, picking one to get a closer look. A perfectly formed snowflake, but a flower. She wasn't holding it for long before it started to melt away, probably from the heat of her hands. That was too bad, she really would have loved to take one home with her, but she had no way to keep it safe enough for the journey.
The next best thing she could think of, was pulling out her phone and snapping a picture of the little patch of snow flowers. It wasn't exactly easy to make out though, the white against the white. It didn't show much detail either. For the first time in her life she wished she was a different type of artist. Someone how could draw or paint, rather than dance. "That's too bad." If only her phone had a better camera. She continued her walk home then, not too many people on the streets after all the snow they'd had the last few days. Even some businesses had been closed during the day. She looked up at the clear sky though, it didn't look like they'd be getting anymore soon. Was tomorrow going to be a warm winter day? The flowers probably wouldn't be able to withstand the harsh morning rays. If it wasn't so late already, she'd probably enjoy them a bit longer.
As she came up to her house there were even some outside in her yard. Such pretty little things, they sort of reminded her of the soft whites and blues of her fuku. Thanks to them she had a new appreciation for wardrobe. Between the sky, the flowers, and the fun she'd had with friends today she counted herself lucky. There would be at least one good December day to remember this year.
