A close friend or loved one makes a gift of a fuzzy, oversized sweater that they say they've purchased from one of the local merchants. It's not exactly attractive looking but they seem unfortunately very proud of the purchase so you dutifully at least try it on. This proves to be a poor decision on your part as you soon realize that you're unable to remove the fuzzy monstrosity. Even worse, every word that comes out of your mouth... comes out in song! What the heck?

There's some mischievous magic afoot here but as hard as you try to tug it off or stop breaking into song, you're unable to remove the sweater for one full day and any word out of your mouth happens to have a cheerful tune to it.

Hope you didn't have any major plans for the day!

Saturday morning had arrived and like every other morning, Paul Jones had taken to the sidewalks of Destiny City for his morning run.

Unlike every other morning, however, this particular morning he found his normal route being impeded by what seemed to be a handful of merchants selling things from various booths set up along the road. It was like a yard sale, only with half a dozen or so vendors taking part -- some sort of temporary gig, maybe?

He almost passed by them completely when he noticed some especially woolly looking sweaters being sold by one of the merchants. It was ********' ugly as all sin when it came to the material but he couldn't deny the fact that it also looked like anyone and everyone could fall asleep wearing it by how comfortable it looked.

Why he ended up buying one... he wasn't quite sure. Maybe because he was tired of losing his own hoodies and pullovers to a particularly demanding spouse. Maybe because the grey reminded him of stormy eyes he couldn't pull away from, at times. Maybe he'd gotten a concussion from that blow to the head he'd received a few nights earlier, on the job.

Whatever the reason was, the credit card he kept safe inside his hidden pocket was produced and the grey sweater was purchased, toted home on the run back to the house and set out for Noah to find on the counter top as Paul took his time slicing up an apple to eat with his morning coffee.

It wasn't often that Paul Jones would make it back from his run and not find his spouse in the kitchen preparing breakfast, which was his favorite meal, but today was one of those days that when the older man returned, Noah was no where to be found. On the first floor at least, the sound of footsteps overhead and his vehicle in the garage would prove that the redhead was, in fact, home, he was simply doing something upstairs.

Soon enough, dressed in dark slacks and a button up wearing damp hair, Noah was tromping down the stairs, messing with the cuffs of his shirt. Stormy eyes lifted from his task when the sound of apples crunching between teeth stole his attention. It didn't take him long to note the sweater folded, sloppily, on the counter.

One brow raised, Noah taking the time to smooth out his sleeves and pour himself a cup of coffee before addressing anything that was going on in the kitchen. In fact, he'd turned to the fridge, ignoring the sweater, until he'd pulled out the eggs and bread, which he set next to the sweater.

"What's this?" He finally asked, looking from it to his husband before moving to pop bread into the toaster, four slices - two for him and two for Paul, and set to preparing the eggs.

He was mid bite when the taller man strolled into the kitchen, looking akin to a handsome wet cat, his mop of red hair clearly having visited a shower in the last hour or so by the way it clung to his head. The slacks and button-down had an eyebrow rising, the older of the two turning to press his lower back against the counter as he watched Noah mess with his cuff and then make his way towards the fridge.

The ginger was going about his business to make breakfast, same motions as he always did when he took control of the kitchen. Not that Paul was really complaining - Noah's cooking was leagues better than his own failed culinary skills.

"Sure dressed up for a Saturday," he drawled, lifting to pop another piece of apple into his mouth, "We got something planned I don't remember?"

It was easier to say he didn't remember than to say he didn't know about. Mostly because chances were high that Noah had told him about something - he just hadn't managed to keep the memory stored away in the thick head of his.

Attention was turned towards the woolly looking sweater and Paul shrugged, trying to play off the impending disappointment as Noah didn't look particularly enthused about the new article of clothing on his kitchen counter.

"It's a sweater. Some outdoor market going on down the road, it looked comfy. Color made me think of you."

The coffee mug was raised to his mouth to ward off any expression from showing up on his face.

Noah was quiet as the worked on their breakfast. Eggs were cooked over medium, sprinkled with salt and pepper as they were fried and left to sit in the pan, heat turned off, for a short moment while he plucked the toast from the toaster and spread avocado across it in lieu of butter before each egg was distributed to the appropriate slice.

A plate was slid towards his husband while he took a bite of one himself and quietly took another look at the gift Paul purchased because it made him think of Noah. Breakfast was chewed, then swallowed, and the bite washed down with coffee that hadn't quite cooled enough to drink comfortably, but that was Noah's prefered drinking temperature.

"Nothing planned," Noah said, almost absent-mindedly, before he took another bite of toast and another swig of coffee. He liked the way it burned his throat going down.

"For us, I mean," he felt the need to rectify before he glanced over at his husband, finally pushing off the counter to properly examine the sweater.

It was a good color, matched his eyes, which is why he assumed Paul had purchased it, and it felt nice to the touch-- once he ran his fingers over the material. It wasn't made of his spouse's prefered textural fabric, but something Noah believed he'd enjoy feeling up.

Still, he didn't know if it was a necessary purchase.

"Thought we agreed, only one present for the holidays," he reminded, the normal sharpness of a reprimand missing. "It's nice, Paulie. I'll try it on later."

He watched with violet eyes as Noah masterfully continued to cook their breakfast. There was a slight nose scrunch when avocado came out but he knew better than to comment on the preference for bread spread. Noah tended to keep the two of them eating healthier than how Paul had during his time as a bachelor but it didn't mean the older man pined any less for his junky, garbage taste when it came to his taste palette.

The toast was bitten into, seasoned egg taking the brunt of the flavor as Paul more or less wolfed down the single piece he'd been offered. Chewing slowly was for the birds - which was probably why he returned to finishing up his apple afterwards, his stomach always tending to demand more fulfillment than his spouse's.

Noah took his damn, sweet time in finally inspecting the sweater, the first words out of his mouth being a chastise. Immediately, Paul felt his hackles rise but the ginger somehow managed to assuage his temper with a quick, simple followup.

"Wasn't a holiday gift." The gruff voice was quick to counter back as thick fingers pushed the now empty plate closer towards the sink. He'd do the dishes later, when he wasn't feeling as vulnerable and grouchy. Thoughts of the budget had him feeling guilty, the comment having settled poorly, despite the idle, non-aggressive nature Noah had used for a change. "S'fine, was a stupid impulse. I'll return it later today."

Half of his toast was eaten in the time it took for Paul to consume his and to return to his apple. Noah chose not to comment, knowing that his garbage disposal of a husband could eat four times the amount he did.

Noah's nose wrinkled at the snap, stormy eyes snapping over to look at his husband while his fingers continued to play with the material of the sweater. "Don't take it back," he said, more firmly this time, with Noah rounding the island to reach for his husband's waist.

"I like it." Assuming it fit, but he had just finished putting on his button up and vest and didn't want to mess with tugging the sweater over his head when it likely wasn't meant to be worn over two other layers of clothing "You like the fabric?" He asked, trying to tug hips towards his own when he leaned in to kiss Paul's neck.

"I like that you were thinking of me," he offered, pressing his thumbs against the skin above Paul's pants. He was being sweeter than normal, especially since he was planning on going out shortly, but with everything that'd been so tense and how his husband reacted to his birthday gifts, he thought soft wasn't a bad idea.

Paul liked feeling needed and Noah didn't mind being needy from time to time.

He was ready for the argument to start, especially knowing his comment had been rather biting, all things considered. So when Noah instructed him to not take it back, his spine stiffened and his shoulders straightened up.

Here it comes.

Instead, the presumed temper was nowhere to be found, the younger man complimenting the ugly-a** looking thing as he moved towards Paul, reaching out to drag him closer. It caught the older Jones off guard completely, a puzzled look crossing his scruffy face. There was no resistance as he was tugged closer, nostrils flaring slightly and his breath hitching when he felt the cool pads of his spouse's thumbs brushing across his warm stomach.

"I ---" Words were a mess in his head, Paul struggling to sort them out into coherent sentences as he'd been preparing himself for a fight, not a conversation. Having Noah's mouth on his neck didn't help matters either, blood rushing to other parts of his body at such simple gestures. "I-It's nice. Felt like something you'd wear on the couch or wherever."

It wasn't stylish like his spouse's normal modus operandi but it did look comfortable. Maybe not Paul's-old-hoodie sort of comfortable but nice, in its own way.

Blinking, it took him a moment to adjust to the change in mood but hands were falling down to take hold of Noah's hips in return, refusing to let the tall redhead leave anytime soon.

"Maybe... you can try it on later, yeah?"

The flat of Noah's nose ran along Paul's neck, teeth nipping before he pulled back. There was a slow exhale, stormy eyes nearly black with desire he had to reign in but slowly his hands pushed his spouse's away.

"Later, when I get back," the ginger promised, kissing the corner of his mouth. "Perfect lounge wear when I'm home."

He had an appointment to get to and errands to run, last minute holiday things, but when he came home...well there would be all sorts of trying things.

"I have to take care of some stuff, but I'll be home in a few hours." He knew Paul wouldn't like that, but he'd deal. Even if he was an a** about it. "We'll have a late lunch and you can show much how much you like the material of that sweater okay?"

The kiss left him aching, a whine resting on the tip of his tongue as the lankier man pulled away from him. Noah knew what he was doing, he knew exactly where he needed to touch and how to get his husband's motor revved up.

He was good, though. He didn't whine, he didn't gripe, just offered a sad little nod at being left to his own devices when there was plenty of other things he'd rather be doing to waste away the rest of the day.

So, with a follow-up kiss, he saw Noah off and in a split second decision, donned the sweater himself to test out just how comfortable the material actually was, just in case there was some itchiness hidden away in it. He knew he should probably wash it first but eh.

Wouldn't cause more than a couple fuzzball problems, right?
