• You may submit up to two poems.
• There is no line limit or word count, but please bear in mind that this is a poetry contest. Entries should not be too lengthy.
• Keep the content appropriate and within guild and site rules.

you are who i strive to be like filled with charm and unreservedly kind the light of my life a one in a billion find
as long as you can smile and stay true to yourself i'll think this world worthwhile and fight to better myself
you've given me the drive to be warmer, to be softer you've shown me the light to the path of a happily ever after
i'm far from where i want to be but it's okay, there's no hurry because progress is progress, you'd agree and together there's no need to worry

My Daughter Thoughts of you Turn my gray skies blue. It never fails: Texts, Pictures, emails, Voicemails, a call, I treasure them all Because you brighten my days In so many ways. My daughter, you're so funny, So smart, and sweet as honey, But best of all, in the end I'm blessed to call you my best friend.

Light of my life, is that what you are? Light of my life, light of my all In times when it's dark, times when it's too heavy you lighten my weight, make it easier to carry Light of my life, is that what you are? Light of my life, light of my all Someday we will be meeting again Until then, know that physical goodbyes are not the end. <3
(dedicated to every pet I have known, know now, or will know in the future.)

Fears Light Mother Warm Loving Support Happy Life Sickness Death Loss Despair Pain Sorrow Dark
Mother Like flowers in the spring Or rain in the desert You gave me life
Like a dog who licks your face Or a cat who purrs when pet You showed me love
Like the oxygen in the air Or the sun in the sky You help me survive
Like a magnet to metal Or Velcro on a shoe You held on to me tight
Like when Dad passed away Or when I lost all my friends You taught me about sorrow
And when sadness overcomes me, Like an illness with no cure Or the darkness rolling in on a cloudy night You are my medicine You are my light
you are who i strive to be like filled with charm and unreservedly kind the light of my life a one in a billion find
as long as you can smile and stay true to yourself i'll think this world worthwhile and fight to better myself
