Mintaka had felt off for a bit for December, and it could be a multitude of things. She had been proposed to almost a year ago, she had finally cleansed the full madness that had kept her hostage of her own body. She was almost normal again....
And yet something felt like it was coming. As she stood in the middle of a quiet park, where only cold wind whipped reminding her that winter was in full effect. It was pleasing to know that she wouldn't have to worry much about the weather as for some magical reason, the uniforms they wore protected against the worst of the weather.
She had been on the hunt tonight, for other dmc or even senshi who would be curious of her kind. It had been a long time since she had focused on building the mirror senshi again, to focused on her purge that she had no idea who was in the court anymore. She knew of her awakened Loreley, the senshi of lamentation was honestly one of her prides in awakening.
Now she wished to add even more to the family. It was too bad though, without a guardian around to help her, she was left to scout and hope to find someone if she could.

Astrid hated December.
It was full of finals for the people that were lucky enough to be able to afford college (or willing to spend their entire lives in debt for the chance at a degree that might mean a better future) and for those unfortunate to work in the line of retail well....it was hellish. Both of her jobs wanted her to work more hours for them and despite being listed as unavailable on several days at different intervals, they still blew up her phone with requests for her to pick up hours and it didn't matter that she was working at least 30 hours at each job, they were offering hours and overtime and if she wasn't at one job when they called, she caved and said yes.
She was exhausted, to the bone, and the bitter chill of winter and all the complications that came with it threatened to bog her down.
Still, she had to trudge through the remains of the snow and it didn't matter how tightly she wrapped around herself, she was still shivering. Slush squished beneath her winter boots as she tromped down the sidewalk on her way home.
Little cat paws pattered across the wet concrete, nose wrinkling as he hurried along, tail swishing with agitation and mumbling beneath his breath about how the dirty snow remains were matting his fur and he'd need to spend hours grooming himself to get the muck out of his fur. Something tingled on his senses and he froze, sights zeroing in on the girl that was walking home.
"You!"

She almost missed the small cat, bounding in the snow. He was fluffy, and she was pretty sure she saw a very fancy if not well groomed hat on top of his head. Curiosity got the better of her, as she found it's tracks, hoping to catch the kitty and see if he was a guardian.
Hopefully a guardian among the chaos ranks that she could attempt to either convince or bribe her into finding senshi for her court. She was even more surprised when she did find him, stopped in the concrete with less snow around them and staring at a young woman.
She moved quietly and quickly to watch the exchange, hoping that if the guardian had found a senshi, she could offer a chance to become a mirror senshi instead of a white moon. After all, she was sure the slight aura was chaos as well, there was just no need to be rude and attempt to sneak in. Nuxaz She'll make a move after confirmation!

Astrid froze when she heard someone speak to her, but when she looked around she could see nothing but...a cat...in a tophat?
She shook her head, intending to carry on but the cat scurried forward, immediately coming to stand before her and...well, it looked pissed off at her. Hesitating again, Astrid tugged her coat more tightly around her.
"Can I help you?" She asked, then wondered how she'd sunken so low that she'd begun talking to a cat as if it would be able to respond to her.
"Yeah, actually," the cat responded in a snotty tone. Theodore rolled his eyes at her and lifted a paw to push the brim of his hat up when he blinked at the girl. "You're a senshi, or will be once I get you to a general-sovereign," the cat explained and Astrid blinked at him, mouth hanging open in shock.
"Come with me."
She shook her head. "Mmm, no thank you strange talking cat. I think I'll pass on whatever you're selling."

Oh no oh no oh no. Theodore, this cat with a hat seemed to be very dedicated to the negaverse and she overheard the words of General-Sovereigns. Admittedly, they were nega cats and had no claim or loyalty to the Mirrors, but she was selfish and wanted to awaken more senshi to mirrors.
She didn't want him to take her to whatever nega general would break her seed and popped as much as she could, gently out of the darkness.
"Good evening!" She smiled as she came forward, looking over the brunette and then down to the peppermint candy ribboned cat.
"A pleasure to meet an unawakened and a guardian out on this cold evening." Her arms came to cross, "Would you mind if I joined your guys walk?"

Theodore was appalled. A p p a l l e d by the girl's dismissal of his request. Didn't she know that it wasn't a request at all but a very politely worded demand?!
"I'm afraid it's not negotiable," Theodore started, ready to do the flip to pull his communication pen out of his subspace pocket so that he could simply request for a general-sovereign to show up where they were. He had wanted to set it up better but the girl was being uncooperative and he didn't have time to do his convincing spiel.
And he felt the Dark Mirror just before she announced herself, a low growl rumbling from his small frame.
"I'd rather you didn't," he stated in a sweet-but-still-please-back-off sort of way.
Astrid blinked, confused by the girl's get up. She bit her tongue instead of saying anything, it didn't seem friendly, which she didn't want to be but she was getting approached by all sorts of things that she wasn't keen on.
"You know, I appreciate the offers, but I really need to go..."

Mintaka was mostly amused, since the guardian seemed very up in arms. She hadn't met a guardian that was purely dedicated to the Negaverse like she had met of this one. She could tell by his tone that he was not overly found of her offer, but that didn't stop her from falling in step with Astrid.
"You might not get the choice later." Mintaka didn't want to scare the girl, but it seemed important to tell her. "You're a threat to the...forces we call masters?" It sounded cryptic and unfortunate.
"It would be more of a problem to leave you alone now that you've been approached by both of us." She bent down, politely looking at the guardian. "Do you think perhaps instead of calling your general Sovereign guardian, we could give her the choice?" She looked between the two, "I am Mintaka of the Dark mirror court, An Eternal senshi." Words she knew had no meaning to the woman....yet.

Pink eyes narrowed at the mirror senshi, Theodore's tail flicking in irritation. He had half a mind to pop into his human form just to tell her to shove off, but the woman's aura was already going to draw them attention and he knew his own was massive. Plus...he still had some trouble controlling the shift as well as he wanted and he couldn't make a fool of himself in front of his newest charge!
The girl was his to bring into the fold, not this stupid mirror lady's.
"It's really quite rude to encroach on someone else's findings," Theodore stated.
Astrid blinked, more confused than ever by the strange back and forth exchange. "Look, it's nice to meet yousorta but I'm really not interested in any of it. I don't know what you're talking about and I don't really want to know what you're talking about but--"
She had both hands up, backing up slowly. There was another route she could take to get home. "I'm gonna go."

Mintaka hummed thoughtfully at the guardian, and smiled. It was a shame, she had hoped that he wouldn't be as dedicated as to the negaverse, and willing to allow the senshi to be awakened in any faction. Alas, it was the sadness of dark mirrors that they did not have chaos cats of their own to dedicate to solely finding senshi for themselves.
"It would've been better that you made a choice, and I am really sorry that I have to make it for you." Her gaze moved from Theodore, to the brunette backing away. "I will explain the process as soon as it happens, so don't be afraid." She couldn't chuck the woman through a mirror, and red eyes settled on Theodore again. It wouldn't hurt but....
"Okay well..." She was lucky enough that mirrors were randomly placed around Destiny city, and even now, she could see one that would fit all of them. She hated being so forceful, so she took the brunette's arm in one hand, gently cupping an elbow, and another along her back. Her senshi strength was a bit hard to fight against but as they rushed towards the mirror, she was calm and soft spoken about it. "We are going to mirrorwalk, so I'd like you to relax. I understand this is shocking, and again I wish this was more your choice but....our handsome cat over here will summon someone that won't be as gentle as I am. It possibly won't end well either." She reached out, touching the mirror to activate it and watched as the glass seemed to ripple to life. Then she gently shoved the woman through it, so she could see.
"Guardian, You can come with me if you like, or you can stay here for us to return...." She was still within reach of him to take him with. "You might find our process fascinating." Red eyes twinkled, even as she continued to gently ease the girl into the mirror.

Astrid felt a chill run down her spine at what the white haired lady was saying.
It would've been better that you made a choice, and I am really sorry that I have to make it for you
"Woah, woah, wait a second," she scrambled to say, hurrying backward so quickly she nearly tripped. "No, look, I said--" Her arm was grabbed and she let out a little squeak. "Wait. Hold on-- Really, I insist--" Her words seemed to fall in deaf ears while she was guided towards a mirror.
What was she going to do, shove her face again--
Mirrowalk???? What the hell was that!
Theodore tried to get in between Mintaka and the new girl but failed, watching as he was blown past and he regretted that he didn't have better control over his human form to just forcefully stop her.
Still, he eyed her hand warily before begrudgingly leaping onto her shoulder. "This doesn't make us friends." He felt the need to point out, but he knew that now that they were at the mirror, calling for backup wouldn't do him any good.

"Well, I told you..." Mintaka smiled, and it was gentle, she didn't want to scare the girl more then she already had. "Here you will do it peacefully, with them? Not so much." She scooped up Theodore, as the mirror rippled to life and pushed the girl through.
The scenery change to the dark misty mirrorspace. Like a building saturated in grey. It wasn't particularly unwelcoming to Mintaka, she loved it more then she loved other things.
Her hand was light but firm as she guided Astrid to the middle of the kingdom. Ares's kingdom to be exact but it wasn't like the mirrorspace didn't expand. Ares's just housed the nesscary tool in which she needed to awaken the senshi she had with her now.
"Welcome to mirrorspace. Home to mirror senshi. We're formally called the Dark Mirror Court, as we are neither senshi of the moon court OR senshi of the Negaverse. I'll explain those two in a bit." She stepped in front of a large ornate black mirror, pushing Astrid towards it.
Once the woman was closer to the mirror, she set Theodore down next to her.
"The reason I chose to bring you along Miss...I'm sorry I didn't get your name," Mintaka smiled sheepishly, "Is because you are senshi. The small cat talking here, also sorry, I didn't get your name, is what we fondly call Guardian Cats. They are, in every sense of the words, guardians of senshi's. They awaken, give us our names, even know some of our powers. They offer you...." She rubbed her chin, "It'd be better really if he explained then I. In order for you to know, and to leave here, I need you to walk through this mirror." She waved at it.
"I'll be here, so don't be scared." She looked to Theodore again, "We'll both be here, to walk you through everything." She took a seat on the stairs leading up to it.
"There is no here besides us, and no way to leave until you're done."

Astrid looked unhappy. Theodore looked annoyed.
"You're making it sound worse than it is," the guardian huffed, chin sinking down to press against his bowtie as ears flattened against his head. Sure, maybe it hurt a little but it wasn't half a traumatizing as being taken into a weird mirror world where everything felt muted and wrong!
Despite her efforts to dig her heels in, Astrid found that there was no real ground for her to dig them into and she was pushed forward, gently, by...she said her name was Minty or something. She couldn't remember and frankly she didn't want to remember because she mostly just wanted to leave this weird swirling place and go home.
But that wasn't an option so she grit her teeth to bear it.
"I didn't give it to you," Astrid said in a too-obviously-fake-polite voice.
"Theodore," the cat on Mintaka's shoulder huffed, overall seeming dejected.
Astrid wanted to scowl, but she kept her face neutral. She didn't want to upset her strange...captor? With a huffing sigh she stepped towards the mirror and it swallowed her.
When she came back out, she looked different and she felt different too, with her pulse racing in the throat.
"W-what is this?"

Mintaka watched as Astrid step through, aware that the woman was not happy with situation. She'd be even less happy, she was sure, when a general sovereign shoved chaos through her starseed. At least this was painless.
The mirror didn't turn, but Astrid came out the same way she came in, except draped in dark purples and black. Mintaka's hands clapped together and she came closer.
"You're absolutely gorgeous." She took a deep breath, "Welcome to the Dark Mirror Court. Theodore, if you will...." She nodded, "You will get your name for this form, your pen. Your responsibilities, I can go in detail. Dark mirrors are a neutral faction, led by Leto, the Princess of camouflage and Remarque...The prince of puppetry. I say neutral, because we are at war, darling."
Mintaka smiled, though it was much sadder. "We have been at war for almost ten years, I have been with the dark mirrors for almost four and I was a white moon senshi before that." She didn't want to overwhelm her, so her tone gentled.
"I know what its like. I wanted you to choose to come to this, but I hope you will allow me now to let you be informed, so you don't go into this war without some knowledge and with someone at your back."

Theodore grumped from where Mintaka held him. While the girl looked stunning, he couldn't help but think that she would have been more attractive as a senshi of the negaverse instead of a stupid mirror senshi.
Ugh. Stupid crane lady swooping in and stealing his senshi!!!
He almost wanted to refuse to give the girl a pen, make it impossible for her to power up now that she'd been stolen but if he didn't someone else would and well, he had found her.
Even if she was a mirror senshi, she was his.
He preformed a backflip to produce the pen, which he caught in his mouth, after climbing onto Mintaka's shoulder. It wasn't the most graceful but considering he was the outsider, he didn't want to get kicked out of the mirrorspace. If that were a thing anyway.
He figured it might be like teleporting, where he had to hold onto Miss Dia to travel with her.
He wanted to teleport.
Pink eyes narrowed at Astrid, taking in her form and concentrating. "Sailor Sabrina," a pause as he sussed out what her sphere was, "of infatuation."
Astrid-- or was it Sabrina? -- felt weary on her feet, stumbling on the heels she hadn't expected to wear. They weren't practical work shoes, she rarely bothered except for when she had a rare day off...Wait, what had the lady said?
"War? You dragged me into a war?"

"Sabrina of infatuation. That's actually a pretty sphere." Mintaka mused, "I have a brother that is of temptation, and one of devotion. I'll be interested to see your magic in action!"
Mintaka's demeanor changed, and she sobered up. "Yes, Sabrina. You have been brought into a war that has been going on for almost ten years." She reached down to tough Theodore, for just a brief moment of comfort.
"There is four factions that we know of at the moment. On the side of Order, which is the white clad heroes or villains...depending on who you talk to is the White moon Court senshi and White moon Knights."
She held up her other hand, "On the side of chaos energies, we have the negaverse which is a military organization mostly, and us...the dark mirror court. While we are not technically tied to either side....we have the freedom to engage the war or not." She looked thoughtful for a moment.
"Theodore is a guardian of the negaverse, and we are lucky that we are able to rely on their guardians to help us. However, had he called his General Sovereign....you would have been dragged into war without a choice to what path you forged..." Mintaka closed her eyes, "I am not saying this to make you feel better, but had the negaverse awakened you....you would be nothing more then a soldier in their ranks. You would have to follow whose ever command, against your will or be punished." Mintaka shrugged, "But that is the way of a military. Dark mirrors are free senshi. Though we have the mantle of chaos, at least we do not dictate your path."
Mintaka held out a hand for the young woman.
"I could teach you everything that would keep you safe, and liberate you. You don't have to fight in the war, Sailor Sabrina. You just have to be smart about it."
