gaia_star Introduction

The NSTG is a family, and the members of a family should feel safe to tell each other about their struggles and concerns. I wish to be honest with you.

Our programs, which give newbies and oldbies alike a safety net, are well-maintained and stable, but when it's time to plan and execute larger events, we simply lack the manpower: many volunteers take on more than their fair share of responsibilities for a single event. We yearn to see new faces in places of leadership in our guild.

    So we need your help.

In light of this situation, we're bringing back a blast from the past: until January 31st, 2019, anyone with 250+ posts in the NSTG will be permitted to join the Crewmember Assistance Program (or CAP) if they should wish to do so, thereby bypassing the formal application process altogether.

gaia_star How to Apply

Simply make a post in this thread and let us know that you're interested in joining; if you would prefer, you could also send me a private message. I'll look you up in the memberlist to confirm the number of posts you've made in the NSTG and then admit you to the Program.

Please post all of your questions in this thread so that your fellow guild-mates can see the answers to questions that they might have themselves and so that other Crewmembers or CAP Volunteers can have the opportunity to provide you with the most complete and correct answer to your question.

gaia_star Questions You Might Have

Where can I learn more about the Crewmember Assistance Program?

Why does it have to be 250 posts?

We figure that anyone who has made that many posts in our guild has a high level of commitment to and understanding of the NSTG community.

I don't have 250 posts in the guild; can I still apply to the CAP?

For sure! Follow the instructions in this post.

Do CAP Volunteers get to take part in the events they help create?

Absolutely! If you host a contest during an event, for example, you can still take part in the other event's activities and even win prizes.

How many events are there per year in the NSTG?

Will I have to contribute to the upcoming Christmas or Spirit Week events if I join the CAP now?

Nope! Anyone who joins before the end of the year will not need to fill the requirement of serving on two event committees per year until 2019.

Will this cost me anything?

Not at all. The NSTG is fortunate to have enough financial resources to cover all event expenses and we would never ask CAP Volunteers to pay out-of-pocket to host an event activity.

If I help out during the Spirit Week and on St. Valentine's Day, does that mean I'm done for the whole year? What if I serve on two committees during the Christmas event? Is that permitted?

Yep! All we ask is that you help out at two event committees of your choice, no matter how early or late in the year.

Are there any additional perks to joining?

Yes! At each NSTG Awards Ceremony, we reward the CAP Volunteer who has served on the greatest number of event committees; in addition, we put all CAP Volunteers / Crewmembers into a raffle where each committee on which they served equals one raffle ticket. Though none of us work for a profit, we do reward our star volunteers.

I want to help, but have no idea if I know how to do so.

Not only do all CAP Volunteers have access to a collection of fantastic guides on how to host successful event activities and to an ever-growing Archives subforum, but they are surrounded by some of the most helpful and friendly Gaians around: the NSTG Crew and their fellow CAP Volunteers. Whether it be decent graphics, advice, successful thread templates, or a little moral support, we will always have your back.

gaia_star CAP Volunteer Testimonials

When interviewed for the NSTG Monthly, each CAP Volunteer is asked a question: What is the most rewarding part of being a CAP Volunteer? Here are some of their answers:

"Knowing that you are actually making someone's day." -- papercaves

"Giving back to the community and getting a little more insight into the 'behind the scenes' of NSTG events." -- Lady Kikila

"Knowing that the games I create entertain those who play." -- Rin Kairiu

"Looking behind the scenes of all the work that goes into the NSTG, and being a part of it!" -- lolly kin

      "My boosted confidence." -- IchigoNeko23

"The joy of giving to others." -- Cheshire Kattz
