It wasn't unusual for one Austin Lynch to end up in the ER for one reason or another. He was a man who lived his life in the fast lane and when he was doing something, he didn't exactly slow down for anything or any reason. Which was how he found himself sitting in a hospital room, wearing one of those paper gowns with his clothing in a pile on the floor while he waited for whatever nurse was on duty in the whee hours of the night to check on him.
The skin around his brow was split, blood mostly clotted but some of it still tricking down the side of his face and he was cradling his wrist with his other hand.
Austin had hurt himself enough in the past to be pretty confident it wasn't broken but he also thought that he'd made cracked a rib and there were some pretty nasty bruises that he could see despite the dark color of his skin and it'd been enough that he'd been convinced to get things checked out.
It was annoying, but he was there, legs swinging just enough that his heels kept kicking the table.
More than once he checked his phone, watching the digital minutes tick on and on.ghouliboo here's your present i guess

Life in the emergency room never failed to be interesting.
Whether someone was out doing something stupid to end up in the ER or some bizarre happenstance had caused an unusual case to show up -- Jules was there to see it all. Taking care of the elderly and homeless held a special place in her heart when it came to sympathy but that sympathy was sorely lacking when she found herself assigned to idiots who came close to getting themselves almost killed by pulling stupid stunts.
And, from the look of things, that's exactly what she was about to deal with when she was assigned her next patient.
Glancing at the details on the chart she'd been handed, the blonde nurse shook her head as she knocked three times on the door to Room 24 before twisting the knob open and heading inside.
"Mr. Lynch?"
There was a tall, very tall young man sitting on the stretcher looking worse for wear. Dried blood spattered his forehead and he nursed his wrist - probably broken, if not severely sprained, judging by the swelling.
The smile remained forced into place as she spilled into her greeting, the comments coming natural, as they'd been rehearsed and said over and over to patients before him.
"My name's Julie and I'll be taking care of you this evening. Before the doctor comes in, we need to get a few blood samples for tests and then radiology will come in for an x-ray."
Moving to set the chart down to the side, she dug through several of the counter top drawers to find the supplies she would need to start an IV on the young man.
"What on Earth happened?"

Austin was a frequent enough of a visitor to the ER that he knew most of the nurses, and doctors, that worked but the one slipping into his room was new. Well, new to him and he wondered if he'd caught her on one of the rare days that she was in instead of the usual crew that he was used to.
Or maybe he was in a different ER than usual. That was possible.
His head hurt, he probably had a concussion based on how he was feeling and how he was staring directly at her but he couldn't quite focus on the good looking nurse.
"That's me," he replied, after a beat, a lazy grin spreading across his mouth. "Call me Austin, Mr. Lynch feels stuffy, like I'm in trouble." Another beat and a low rumbling chuckle. "Unless I am in trouble and I've got a hot nurse ready to doll out punishment." Despite the bleeding and split brow, Austin found the energy to waggle his brows at Julie suggestively.
Which was definitely a bad idea, leading to him hissing in pain and wincing.
"Well, do you really wanna know...Juju? You might be inclined to tattle on me and that would put a real damper on what could be a great relationship."

Hot nurse?
The comment had her raising a brow, glancing back over towards the giant of a man as he grinned back at her. Jules made a mental note to suggest to the doctor on duty to order a CT scan of his head - clearly something had gotten jostled in whatever sort of accident he'd found himself in.
"If you've taken any illegal substances, Mr. Lynch, it could affect any of the medication we possible give you for your injuries. We won't notify the authorities unless there's a warrant out for your arrest, if that's what you're concerned about."
The nickname received no response, though the nurse did set aside her supplies to fetch some gauze, making a point to dab and clean up the forehead wound before continuing on with her duties. Against her better judgement, she teased lightly while she cleaned, "I won't call your mother either if you behave yourself. I don't imagine she'd be too keen to find her son trying to flirt with a woman over ten years his senior."

Legs swung, heels thunking against the table as green eyes half focused on the nurse. It was easy to let his thoughts wander, for him to get distracted and stare off but every word that slipped from Juju's lips had him refocusing.
Mostly on her lips, but he was listening. Kinda. (Not really.)
"No substances, Juju," he replied, the s**t eating grin broadening when he leaned towards her as she tended to his forehead. If he shifted just right his lips could brush against her skin, but he didn't try.
He was still reading the room.
"You can call her, she'll probably tell you that I could use an older woman, you probably have lots to teach me." He was laying it on thick, but she'd been the one to tease back and he was into it. "Maybe you can teach me some discipline so she'll stop getting all those phone calls~"

"All of those calls? I take it that this isn't your first time visiting the emergency room, Mr. Lynch?"
She used his last name out of spite; most patients that asked for their first names to be used were listened to but she was making a point to continue using his last one just because he'd asked her not to.
If he was going to be a brat, then she was going to be a brat too.
"I need you to lay back and be still -- I need to get an IV in your arm and don't want to miss."
Hands gently moved to push him back onto the stretcher, guiding him down to allow herself more room to work with as she examined his uninjured arm for a proper vein. Concentration was imperative but Julianne Payne wasn't nervous when it came to sticking people -- in and out, a click and a clear bandage later and the IV had been put in and tested with a nearby flush.
"You still haven't told me what happened," she murmured, soon using her syringes to begin pulling out blood from his IV line for their standard tests.

His grin might as well have been a s**t eating one from where he sat with his shoulders hunched over. "What can I say? I've got a thing for hot nurses," he offered, with feigned sheepishness. He, also, made a show of checking her out. Again.
"But Juju if you miss, does that mean you'll kiss it better?" He couldn't help but ask even as he settled back onto the stretcher and did as he was told.
He wasn't looking at her though, because that meant watching her as she stuck him with a needle and stole his blood. "Hospitals are just-- dunno, like fancy vampires. Always stealing blood for one reason or another, you know?" He said instead of answering her probing again.
He'd look over at her when she was done sticking him with things. "How about this, I'll tell you what happened if you entertain the thought of letting me seduce a hot nurse."

"A hot vampire, is that what you think of me, Mr. Lynch?"
Amusement tinged her voice as she tilted the vials, soon moving towards the counter top as she wrapped the designated labels around the tubes, marking each according to their colored lid.
"It doesn't seem like I have much of a choice, do I?" She said in regard to his proposal, eyebrows lifting as blue eyes glanced over towards the patient sprawled out comfortably on the stretcher. The man was a giant, legs dangling over the edge as the rest of him took up the standard sized bed. He must have been at least 6'5, if not taller.
There was an appreciation for height, especially coming from a woman who was barely 5'5, herself.
"Though you should probably tell me for the sake of your care here in the hospital." The labs were placed in a baggie and handed off to one of the techs standing nearby in the hallway, now en route to the lab for testing. She closed the door to the room once more and took a seat on the nearby stool, pulling around the portable computer from the corner of the room to begin charting all of the presumably lovely details of his adventure.

"I mean," he started, a slow drawl, "if you wanted to like bite my neck or something, I wouldn't complain." Green eyes closed slightly, wetting his lips even though she wasn't doing anything remotely sexy.
"No illegal substances," he offered knowing that it wasn't remotely the thing she was searching for. He sat up a bit, taking advantage of his long limbs to knock his knee against one of hers. "I do this thing, that really should stay between us, but it's not really that big of a secret." Most of the people at the ER's he usually ended up at or instacares were familiar with his questionable life choices.
"You see, I race." His brows waggled. "Like street racing. I can do the whole leg racing too, I'm a track star. My endurance is great." He was definitely being suggestive there.
"It's real competitive, somethings just, y'know, don't turn out. Today was one of those days Juju, see I got a little bit injured, but if you're feeling like kissing me better, I'm here for it. Promise."

She noted the lip licking but said nothing, fingers flying across the keyboard as she kept her thoughts to herself while he drawled on. He thought he was a real Don Juan, apparently, though by judging his natural appearance alone, she could understand why.
Despite his injured state, Austin Lynch wasn't terrible on the eyes. He was handsome by all accounts as taller than any man had the right to be. Not that she was about to volunteer her preference for taller individuals, of course, but a monstrous six feet, six or seven inches was definitely one of the tallest she'd met. Instead of investing in the NBA or sports, however, that giant of a man was apparently crawling into the driver's seat of a car and being absolutely reckless about it.
"Endurance means nothing if there's no skill to back it up," she mused softly as she entered what little information she'd managed to pry out of him. Goodness only knew the state of his car, if he'd been injured inside of it. He was lucky he came out as well as he did, all things considered.
"I feel more like sending you for a CT scan and a few more tests to see if you're suffering a brain bleed, Mr. Lynch," she quipped back, blue eyes finally turning back towards him but the amused smile tugged at the corner of her mouth, betraying her mood.
"Is there anyone you'd like me to call and notify that you're here? Someone who can potentially take you home, if you're released this evening?"

"Juju, you wound me," he replied as smarmy as could be. He even went far enough to press his hands over his heart like she'd shot him. "Could take me out for a test drive, if you wanted," Austin couldn't help but crack.
"Hey, if you're just tryin to get me out of my clothes, there are easier ways to ask." At this point he knew he was just being utterly ridiculous to the point that sweet Nurse Juju would right him off as immature and too young.
It didn't bother him, his confidence was bulletproof.
"Nah, if you clear me for a good to go, I'll walk." Or run, but he wasn't about to divulge that. "This one's like five miles from my place." Which wasn't a big deal to the man who made sure to get his runs in every morning.
"Last time I walked with a concussion, this doesn't feel much like one, but y'know symptoms can be deceiving." He waved a hand like it might save her from giving him a lecture. "Crash wasn't too bad, airbags didn't go off but the driver's door got all banged up and I smacked my head against the steering wheel. No shattered glass or anything, this time."

She paused in her typing to give him the best maternal look she could muster when he explained that he'd intended on walking five miles to his house after being released from the emergency room.
"I am not letting you simply walk out of here - not when you've just suffered a potential head injury from a car wreck."
Damn her need to make sure even the handsome, foolish ones made it home safely. This guy was no more than a kid - he no doubt had a mother that would worry about him if he didn't make it home by morning, no matter how reckless he tended to usually be. No mother deserved to worry about her offspring, not when there were people like Jules to make sure they were patched up and sent home safe and sound.
Now Angelite on the other hand, was another story.... but....
"If you hit your head on the steering wheel, I'm sure the doctor will definitely order a scan."
And he did - a couple, actually. By the time Jules was done with all of the orders the doctor had doled out, he'd been bandaged all over, given an adequate amount of pain medication and instructions to stay away from the driver's seat for at least a week, until his swollen noggin' had time to heal.
Writing the discharge paperwork, Jules tiredly couldn't remember how much cab fare was to general areas in the city. She didn't have any cash on her to give him for a fare home -- then again, who actually knew if he'd use the money for that. There was nothing that said he wouldn't pocket the cash and try to walk the silly five miles anyways, the smarmy idiot.
Handing him the paperwork, she glanced up at the clock and the knowledge that she'd worked well past her allotted shift time.
"Are you ready to go home, Mr. Lynch?"

"How are you gonna stop me Juju?" He teased, but he fell relatively complacent when it came to all of the testing that had to be done and cared for.
He took the clipboard, signing where he needed to and filling out what might've been left blank for him. When she asked her question he shrugged, offering the papers back with a lazy grin.
"Depends, you taking me home Juju?" He stepped closer to her, like it would have an effect on his decision.
"You know...you could really keep me out of trouble if you do," he couldn't help but offer in hopes that he could tempt the woman a little. He wasn't really a wooer, which was probably what she wanted, but he didn't care and it certainly didn't stop him from trying.
"I'll make it worth the trouble and effort."

Shaking her head, she let out a heavy sigh.
Was she really going to do this?
Blue eyes glanced up at the now-former patient as she tore off the carbon copy of the discharge paperwork and handed him his stack. He was incorrigible but he was - what had his chart said, again? - in his early 20s. Still young and dumb enough to get himself in trouble and cause his parents even more worry than they probably already were.
God, she was really going to do this.
"Or you can pay me back by keeping your mouth shut for the entire ride."
Stopping by the nurse's station to grab her purse and her jacket, she motioned for the young man to follow after her. It would be a wonder how the giant of a kid would fit into her tiny Volkswagen but that would be a problem for his neck, not hers.
