Nothing warms the heart more during the winter months than holiday music. Except for maybe a nice cup of cocoa. These two nightmares have decided to spread the holiday cheer by going carolling around Asphodel. It's not as easy at it sounds though and they might need a little help. Lend your voice?
How this Works:
Write an in-character response as one of the nightmares above describing their experience. Consider the following for your entry (these are by no means required, but suggestions to get you started): tab Where are they carolling? tab What made them decide to go carolling this year? tab Are they going alone or with friends? tab What kind of difficulties do they face? But wait! There's more! Your entry must include a custom lyrics for a carol. Keep your responses between 200-2000 words. A little under or over is okay! Please make sure to spoiler your entry.

RP Response: Noelle loved the holidays. It wasn't just the Winter Solstice, she loved all of the holidays that made her feel warm and fuzzy inside. Finally, a feeling that seemed to match her outfits. Even in the warm summers that she'd gone through, she wore fuzzy legwarmers and sweaters. Yet, when winter rolled around, she was able to look like she was actually thinking and coordinating her outfit, rather than throwing on whatever looked the coziest.
The one thing that she took time to dress up with thought behind it, however, was when she was going out caroling. She'd round up all her friends and they'd march from one dorm to the next. She still held up that tradition these days, returning to the Academy to sing to the Freshlings and Juniors. To see their delighted or shy smiles was a gift in of itself!
Most of the carols she knew were from the Academy too and so she had a tendency to sing her favorites from her old school to its current students. She had just opened the door to reveal a huddled group of Freshlings with their caretakers. Gathering her friends together with "A one, and a two!" she had led them into "The Twelve Days of Winter Solstice" and were on the last verse now.
"On the twelfth day of Winter Solstice My sweetheart gave to me: 12 Potions Brewing Eleven Teachers Teaching Ten Fey a Fluttering Nine Gods a Ruling Eight Geists a Floating Seven Students Studying Six Core Classes Five Golden Crowns Four Needy Coatl Three Universities Two Vespercats and a Cockatriel biting meeeee."
As she and her fellow carolers breathed in a sigh of relief, the little ones and their caretakers clapped. With bows and wishes for a happy solstice celebration, Noelle and her friends headed down the hallway, ready to knock on the next door that they came upon, continuing to spread the holiday cheer!

RP Response:
If they were being honest, the holidays weren't Coal's favorite time of the year. Not that the Winter Solstice, and the accompanying activities, weren't fun. They simply preferred the longer, warmer days of late spring to early fall and the lack of a need to bundle up. Long sleeves and jackets were so restrictive, Coal found themselves forgetting to wear weather appropriate clothing. Like now, for instance.
Nine, it was cold outside. Coal shivered and rubbed some feeling back into their arms as their friend rang the doorbell. Coal had been invited to go caroling, which sounded like a lot of fun and was going to be during the day when it was warmer. Pffffft, yeah right. They had been caroling for a while and the temperature was dropping quick. Coal didn't want to ask for a coat though, that would only make them warm and someone else cold.
Their friend stepped back into the group as the door opened and a curious baphomet stuck their head out, followed by laughter and lots Christmas music. "Oh! Carolers! Hold on!" The baphomet pulled his head back in and opened both doors inward revealing the party. He ushered them inside the way of the entranceway, thank the Nine, and announced to the whole party that carolers were here. Everyone gathered around and steaming mugs of cocoa were pressed on them. Coal took theirs gladly, warming their hands with the mug. The carolers looked at each other and decided on the Carol they would sing to these wonderfully welcoming Baphos.
Nine rest ye merry, Nightmares Let nothing you dismay Remember, on our Solstice To never turn away To spread good cheer and welcome here Is what we do this day O tidings of comfort and joy, Comfort and joy O tidings of comfort and joy
Winter Solstice warms our hearts And helps us all to see Our difference is nothing Compared to unity So welcome friends as this year ends And gather 'round the tree O tidings of comfort and joy, Comfort and joy O tidings of comfort and joy
The party goes applauded loudly and thanked the group for singing. Compliments were exchanged and cocoa mugs were given back as Coal and their friends began to shuffle out. But Coal was stopped by the Baphomet that originally opened the door. He was holding a coat out to them. "Here, this was my daughter's coat when she was younger. It might be a bit too big for you, but it's warmer than what you have now. She won't miss it, she's at college right now."
Coal blinked at the generous offer. They knew that Baphomet gifts usually came at a price; their parents had taught them that, but they were definitely freezing. "Thank you," they put the coat on and it was definitely too long, but also warm and comfy. "I really appreciate this." Thinking quick, they pulled out a piece of paper and scrawled their address on it. "If you need a favor, know that it is freely given. Just send a letter here." It was the best they could do. Most people didn't know much about Bapho culture, and many 'modern' Baphos didn't hold other races to their culture any more, but Coal knew a little bit. Hopefully the Baphomet would recognize Coal's intention. "Enjoy your party and Happy Solstice!"

Username: irishgirl1017 Character Name: Eirlys Character Preference: Demon
RP Response: (From the view of the Demon)
This year was a cold one, the wind blustery as the snowflakes fluttered in the strong breeze. The snow in some places were moving as if in harmony, others looked chaotic. Small banks began to appear where the snow was blown by the wind.
Eirlys loved this time of year. After all her name means "snowflake". Her family told her the story of how she was born the same day a "freak" snow storm appeared just after they touched her stone to awaken her. Her mother gasped at the strong storm that seemed to rock the house and the sound of the snow hitting the roof became deafening. Yes the wind was that strong where you can hear the snow odd she knew but it was true.
She decided to go carolling by herself, she may run into friends or family along the way but it did not matter. She wanted to enjoy the weather and the warm feeling this time of year gave. Hoping to spread a little cheer to others she thought carolling would be enjoyed by all. After all she loved to listen to carollers as a child she hoped others felt the same.
She had a new carol she had written, hoping it would be accepted she began to softly sing as she walked among the small path towards town. The fountain in the center of town was her destination, she was hoping to sit on the side with her warm blanket and sing to those who passed by.
The snow how it sparkles, how it shines The feeling I get whenever I think of a sleigh ride To know that Spectrefoxes will be there to regally pull the sleigh Brings joy and hope to all who say
Happy Solstice! Happy Solstice! Joy to all who are near and far For the love of the season is the aim to those on par Spreading the feeling of warmth and happiness Who can ask for something better then all this sappiness?
Feeling the crunch of the snow beneath our boots Feeling the cold wind on our cheeks and our suits This time of year is most satisifying To those who hold it dear it is gratifying.
Happy Solstice! Happy Solstice! Joy to all who are near and far For the love of the season is the aim to those on par Spreading the feeling of warmth and happiness Who can ask for something better then all this sappiness?

Eirlys was very unsure of her carol, it was not a traditional one and she was no song writer. She wanted to bring joy to those at this time of year and she felt a song was the way to do so.
As she walked she noticed a few of the town's people began to follow her, it unnerved her some but she kept walking at a soft but brisk pace. Her voice became stronger and clearer the farther she walked. Suddenly a small voice was heard singing her words. Startled she stopped and looked around, her eyes found a small Imp freshling holding hands with a older Imp possibly a teenager. Both are smiling and singing along.
That small gesture meant the world to her, she smiled in return and motioned for them to join her. She turned and kept walking but knew she was being followed and their voices mingled with her own. Her carol was being sung by others! The happiness and joy that brung was more then she could bear. Tears glistened in the corners of her eyes but she would not let them fall and ruin this moment. She kept on singing with the others and before long they made it to the center of the square where a large fountain stood. The water was frozen in a lovely winter display, iciciles were abundant on the fountain as was small cracks in the ice but it was a thing of beauty to all who saw it.
Spreading out her blanket, she sat down primly the whole while singing her carol. Looking around the group that gathered it warmed her heart to know others enjoyed this activity and her carol as much as she did. Several listened, their head cocked to the side to hear better, others began to sing parts of her carol and others learned the words quickly and began to sing along with her. The harmony was exquisite, it sounded like perfection to her. Each one of those gathered added their voice to hers and it became a symphony of lovely voices all of varying tones and depths.
After a few more times singing the carol she held up her hand and everyone paused. She softly said "I thank you for joining me in singing of this carol. I feel honored you would find my carol beautiful enough to listen to and most humbled by those who sang it with me. This time of year is my favorite, I wish to make those around me happy. Please continue to sing with me as I make my way to the small cafe on the next street. I wish to purchase everyone a hot drink as a thank you for making this special for me!" with that she stood up, packed up her blanket and began singing as she made her way to the next street with her new group of friends following.

Great characterisation and lovely lyrics from the both of you (very nice juxtaposition between you, and if you'll permit my saying so, I'd love to see these two meet). Please quote me on whether you accept your win!
