The one problem Bestla had with being a senshi (other than the sheer illogical ridiculousness of it all) was the uniform. While she was no stranger to odd apparel, tiny skirts and drapey bits of wispy fabric in winter were so completely extra, she couldn't even.
"It wouldn't be so bad if we could figure out how to magically customize this s**t so we weren't either freezing or roasting," she grumbled to herself as she stalked the rooftops, looking for trouble to stop. As it was, she'd thrown a wool coat on over her fuku just to make sure she didn't turn into a popcicle on patrol. It wasn't super effective, but it helped.
Then, in the middle of her grousing, she went still, head tilting up as a weak aura brushed against her senses. Chaotic, so maybe a corrupted senshi or Negaverse officer? It didn't feel nearly as strong as that one black and pink officer she'd gone up against. And she was stronger now too...
With a grin, she raced off along the rooftops, following the aura like a hunting hound on the trail of a fox.

Crocoite felt the aura coming toward him and paused in his tracks. He was between hunts, so to speak, a fresh starseed in his pocket from a particularly successful deal being struck with a miserable excuse for a man. He'd found the waste of space cutting through a back alley, presumably on his way home from work, with a woman he clearly had never met before that night on his arm.
In exchange for his life, the man quickly offered up the woman. Only one of them was going to wake up, drained of energy, knowing what they had done to save themself. The lady who unfortunately made an offer to someone who could not benefit her in any way, who had been planning on using her as a toy and then simply offered her as a sacrifice instead, would not be that lucky one.
Standing still, Crocoite summoned his cane to his hand, leaning on it lightly and expectantly.
"In a rush to meet me?" he called over his shoulder, assuming who ever the white mooner was had managed to get into ear shot by how close the aura suddenly was. He did not bother turning to regard her, keeping his back to her with a very leisurely air about him.

Huh, so it was an officer. Bestla would have almost preferred a senshi that she could try to talk into coming back to the right side. Though she had to admit that from her rooftop vantage, the cane summoning trick was kind of neat. But he wasn't turning around, so did that imply cockiness or skill with that thing? Or boredom?
Hard to tell.
Still, his verbal challenge prodded at her pride and she grinned a little nastily. Taking a few steps back, she then ran forward and leapt from the rooftop, dropping to the ground in a perfect Superhero Landing™. Of course, with his back to her, he probably didn't see it unless he took sneaky glances. Dammit.
Still. She straightened, still grinning and casually brushed off the sleeves of her coat.
"Eh, I could take you or leave you. I just wanted to see what was stinkin' up my town," she said in an amused voice. Then, getting a good look at the dude's back, she barked with laughter. "I'm kind of disappointed now. You're on the runty side, ain't'cha."
Okay, it hadn't been a nice thing to say, but from her vantage, the dude really did seem tiny.

Arching an eyebrow, Crocoite's head turned slightly to the side, acknowledging her at least partly but only because she insulted him. Runty? How very rude of her to say. Sure, he was not the tallest man, but he was certainly more than capable with his powers and his weapon.
"Making assumptions like that can lead to trouble, little miss."
He turned slightly, looking at her and taking note of her cocky grin and stance. Though she was wearing a coat, which was a little laughable over a uniform. He supposed she was cold, poor thing, though he was sure she would have more to worry about in short order than that. Tapping the bottom of his cane against the ground thoughtfully, he finally turned to face her directly.
"Stinking up your town, you said? Interesting, as I've not seen you before, and thus can't imagine you actually make any sort of mark on this town at all. If you were to disappear from it, I would think, no one would be inconvenienced by it. What do you think? Would anyone even notice?"
He watched her coolly, though he could feel his heart rate picking up. His muscles were coiling and he was just waiting for the right moment to attack. Though he never considered himself much of a fighter, he did find himself enjoying battles more and more. Except when he lost, which was more than he'd like to admit.

Grin shifting to one of pure delight, Bestla laughed heartily. Dude was a good talker. She'd give him that much.
"'Little miss', holy gods, I don't think anyone outside of my granpa has ever called me that. And even he could only do it before I hit a growth spurt. Y'get points for reminding me of dear ol' gramps."
Then, folding her arms across her chest, she became all seriousness and studied can dude carefully. He seemed to be doing his best to goad her. And his words seemed to indicate that he thought he was hot s**t. She'd have to do what she could to knock him off his high horse a bit.
"Same could be said for you, my dude. On all counts, I might add. What makes you think any of your higher ups see you as valuable? Officers like you are a dime a dozen in this town. I mean, having to arrange a cover story for whoever you are outside of that tacky-a** uniform going missing might get you a little more attention, but ultimately?" Bestla sighed, her regret genuine as she snapped her fingers. "You're barely a drop in the bucket. They can always go out and chum up someone new."
Even as she spoke, she carefully examined their surroundings. If that cane went swinging, she needed to make sure of her footing. And it never hurt to have a few random things around to pick up and use. Hell, her coat could end up being useful.
"So we doin' this or what, little boy?"

Crocoite watched her patiently, finding himself amused. He nodded his head slowly, when she asked if they were going to fight. At least, that was what he assumed she was asking. He could talk a good game, but sometimes it was the follow through where he faltered. Not this time, he was sure.
This time he would definitely win. Maybe bring his General a starseed that she would actually appreciate.
He was well aware of his place in the scheme of things, but that was his clear motivation to keep on seeking power. Rank. Making a name for himself that would be worth remembering by all the others in the negaverse. One that they simply could not forget, even if they tried.
There was no room for failure.
He charged at her without a word, pulling his cane back and swinging the crocodile shaped head of it at her side. Usually he aimed for the head, but that might be a bit too predictable. A lower blow was harder to duck under, anyway.

Silently thanking everyone she'd ever met who'd shared training tips with her, Bestla was ready when the charge came. Ducking was the last thing on her mind when the cane came swinging in. Instead, she leapt up, reveling in her enhanced strength as a senshi.
It gave her a few precious seconds to think and wiggle out of her coat. And in the moment it took to jump up and to to the side, she decided that she was ready for this. And even as she landed, her coat was twisted into a thick 'rope'. Perfect for stopping canes. And maybe whipping assholes in the face.
She was open to multiple possibilities.

Crocoite was angry when she ducked his attack, but he found they usually did. That lead in charge was probably too obvious a move, but he had yet to perfect the follow up that would catch them as they dodged. He was still learning this fighting thing, too, though he liked to think he was awesome at it already.
He was nothing if not confident.
She dodged away from him and he corrected his stance, turning and following her movements with his eyes and not losing sight of her as he came to a stop and brought his cane up again. He watched her with a low growl, eyeing her weaponized coat.
"Is that your defense? Don't you have useful magic, then? It's rare to find a senshi that can use powers of any true use." He grinned, shaking his head. He charged at her, swinging his cane with one hand this time. He hoped to have her follow the cane or try to block it, so he could get a throw in with his fist.

Rolling her eyes at the officer's words, Bestla had to wonder if this ******** was this arrogant all the time or if she was just lucky. Still, she was fairly sure that she'd seen a flash or anger that she'd been able to avoid the cane strike. Maybe that was the way to get him to stumble.
Just keep pricking away at his ego. Sure, why not?
Smiling serenly, she shook her head despairingly at him and sighed.
"Oh my god, you are so bad at this. I know you guys have people you gotta report to. Don't they teach you better trash talking than this?"
She'd be so nice and teach him a little lesson. Still smiling, she kept herself still, seemingly relaxed, though every muscle was already tensed. She'd already caught onto the ploy as he charged and had decided that she'd rather a fist to the stomach than being hit by that canehead. Besides, what was a fist when she knew how to tense up her core to protect delicate organs?
His strength might be boosted in this form, but so was her's. And Bestla had the advantage of this also being someone further down the power totem pole than she. Throwing her coat into his face as his fist connected, she grunted in pain. Then she struck out herself, reaching to grab his collar and hip in her hands, intent on lifting the little ******** and throwing him. Not that he'd probably go far, but she wanted him shook up.
"Why would I want to waste my magic on you, little man? I'm doin' just fine on my own here."

"Trash talking?" Crocoite echoed, grinning as she baited him, "I thought we were just having a rather pleasant conversation. Are you not enjoying yourself?"
Crocoite had a very distinct moment of 'uh oh' when he felt his attack land, but do very little by way of damage or throwing her off her balance. In addition to that, he had a coat over his head to deal with, which momentarily blinded him as he reeled from his attack not quite working.
Okay. Maybe picking this fight was not his BEST idea ever.
Was he flying?
"What the fu-" he managed before he was thrown. He did not manage to catch himself before crashing into the ground, rolling and managing to land on his knees and hands at length. He took a breath, staring at the ground for a long moment.
"Did you.." he growled, getting to his feet slowly and glaring at her, fury clear in his embarrassed expression. "Just TOSS me?"

Grinning like the happiest little sunbeam ever, Bestla watched the officer crashland and then rest for a moment before getting up. Even better was his expression. Linking her fingers and stretching out her arms just enough to allow her muscles to ripple a little even as her knuckles popped.
"Oh, I am just havin' the best time ever," she chirped. "And yes, yes I did. Pity you didn't fly further. I could always try again, if you like."
Now, her grin turned wicked as she took a slow step forward.
"Maybe instead of just tossing you, we can see how far I can drive your face into one of these tree trunks. Could be fun."
She knew she stood a fair chance of that cane nailing her at some point. But she was also fairly sure that she'd survive. And after all, how often did she get to play with arrogant little runts like this?

Crocoite was surprised and a little unnerved, realizing he was in a little over his head. Of course, he had learned this lesson the hard way before, but it never seemed to stick. The promise of glory for winning a difficult battle always blinded him to the fact that he was more likely to lose than actually win.
He called his cane back to him, having lost it while learning what a paper plane feels like. It rolled away from him but thankfully his powers meant it was never too far.
He was beginning to think he needed to resort to escape tactics. Maybe a cheap cane hit and a head start. He still didn't know how to teleport, which would be so very useful for him in future moments of picking fights he could not win.
Then he could just say something pithy and teleport away.
Growling, he moved forward again, pulling his cane back but swinging it low like a golf club, aiming the crocodile head for her knee. No one could take a crocodile to the knee and continue to adventure, right?

Though she liked to think of herself as pbeing pretty honest with her own self, Bestla still assumed that she'd win through simple bulk and physical strength. Which was nice enough when it worked. Not so good when she let her own private hype take over.
Like now.
She should have been watching for the cane. She should have realized that this dude would go for underhanded. She should have tried to break that cane the moment it first had come swinging for her. ******** hindsight.
Roaring in pain as the cane connected just off center of her kneecap, Bestla stumbled. Going down, she landed hard on her now injured knee which only made her angrier. Hating herself and wondering if she was only going to make things worse, she forced herself up, determined to catch the officer and pound his face into a bloodied pulp if she could only get her hands on him. Only to stumble and fall again.
Face set in a snarl, she wondered how successfully she could chase him by dragging herself along. Then, moments later, she found herself hoping he'd just leave.

DaisyMilk Crocoite: the massive cheater Crocoite could not help but feel a rush of excitement as his cane connected. He felt the weight of the hit as it shook in his grip, the staff itself threatening to shatter. He was sure if he swung it again it would probably snap, but he did not intend to try it.
He had his goal in mind: cheap hit, run away. There was no room for changing the plan or getting distracted by his blasted ego again. It was already pretty clear what kind of situations that got him into, and he was not about to lose the upper hand he'd managed to sneak in.
"That looked like it smarted," he sneered as he hurried backwards. He waved at her with his cane, taking a moment to dip his head in a mock salute. "As fun as this has been, I see my time to make an exit is here."
He wanted to say something smart about avoiding any stairs or something, but it did not come to him in time. He instead turned and high tailed it out of there as fast as his little lieutenant legs would take him. There was no way he was going to stand there until she got her second wind: she'd throw him into the next state if she got her hands on him again.

Growling inarticulately, Bestla was half tempted to lunge for the little b*****d's throat and be damned to her knee. But instead, she held in her relief as he made it very clear that he was leaving. Closing her eyes, she waited until she felt his power signature fade. Then, once she was certain that he was gone, she forced herself to her feet to retrieve her coat. It was a bit dirty, but still serviceable.
Once it was back on, she winced and made herself power down. And nearly fell on her nose. Sighing, she half hopped, half limped away. Whether she liked it or not, she needed a doctor.
