08/05/2017 ~ Applegate scandal
On October 5th, 2017 SHIELD suffered a major security breach that led to the leaking of millions of files and data into the world wide web. Immediate measure was taken to neutralize the situation, but by then it was too late. Many confidential documents were leaked - a lot of it into the wrong hands at the wrong time. This included all of Director Francis' research on the Council - something that he had spent over fourty years on.
08/06/2017 ~ Director Francis' Public Announcement
At approximately 6PM CST on October 6th, 2017, Director Francis made his last announcement to the world. Broadcast on every screen, device, radio, and any other form of transmission, it was one that predicted the downfall of humanity. His final plea was to urge everyone to prepare for what was to come.
08/07/2017 - Onwards... ~ The Fall of SHIELD
Following the Director's disappearance at 3AM on October 7th, 2017 all transmissions from the SHIELD Helicarrier stopped. Every global base of operation went dark, and since then it has ceased to operate. Only the world leaders know of this dire news.
08/07/2017 - 08/06/2018 ~ The Year of Waiting
As the name suggests. A full year was spent fortifying and waiting for what the Director had warned everyone about. When nothing happened, the world returned back to normal, and everyone lives in ignorant bliss.
08/07/2018 - Onwards ~ Your Story
This is where our story begins. You, a citizen of earth, are free to roam in a world that for almost a year was gripped in fear, ready for an apocalypse. With no SHIELD, the world is at risk of unique threats that require unique individuals to tackle them.

John E. Francis was a decorated war veteran of the United States. Born on a ranch in Louisville KY, his parents knew that he was destined for more than the farming life. Prodigal as a child, Francis would attend Cornell at the age of 12, and receive his doctorate in Engineering from Harvard at the age of 18. Francis was conscripted into the army at the start of the Second World War, and would soon rise in the ranks and become a prominent figure in the US Department of Defense, working closely with the R&D Division.
He later became the founding father of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division (S.H.I.E.L.D.), a covert UN-sanctioned organization tasked with peacekeeping, law enforcement, and counter-terrorism. It was founded to combat technologically advanced threats on world security - specifically Hydra - after World War II. Under his leadership, Director Francis has protected the world from countless disasters, so it came as a surprise to world leaders when his announcement to the world was broadcast regarding the so-called coming of an apocalypse.
This announcement had been made following a security breach at the SHIELD Helicarrier, where millions of data files were leaked. Many of the files contained highly classified information: identities of operatives, locations of bases, the Director's research, weapon plans, etc. Although the surveillance team did their best attempt to neutralize the situation and retrieve any stolen data, the lasting effects of this leak has yet to be seen. This was known as the infamous 'Applegate scandal' because Christian Applegate, the Director's close personal assistant, had been found dead inside his Washington DC apartment less than an hour after the leaks. Director Francis' disappearance the following day prompted immediate response from world leaders, who took steps to fortify their countries and prepare for impending war. The Director's current whereabouts are unknown. He is presumed dead, along with many high-ranking officers of the now disbanded S.H.I.E.L.D.
