Lin had always been a bit of a prince. His housefolk were kind to him and treated him like royalty, with wet food and a plush bed. There weren't any kits in the household, either, which meant that he could relax his day away. A solitary cat in his own home, yet a social one when he was allowed outside, Lin felt all the world like a prince in his castle and the way he acted mirrored such.
Yowling at the door for someone to open it, he was mightily pleased when the screen slid open and he waved his tail at his housefolk in thanks. The door was left open and he began to do his usual rounds. There were birds in the birdbath, though he paid them no heed. The grass was soft and pleasant for rolling around in, but he wasn't inclined to dirty his coat today. So, he settled for leaping up onto the fence and gazing about. Maybe another would show themselves today and he might have a chat with his fellow felines. Either way, it was shaping up to be a most pleasantly lazy afternoon.

One of the twolegs who takes care of Lin heads outside, and scratches the tom under his chin. Just a quick little show of affection, then they're back indoors leaving him to his own business once more!

The white and grey tomcat was seated on his garden outside his twolegs home, gently grooming his silky smooth, very fluffy pelt. Bell had never been very.. Privileged, one might say, oh no. He was a young cat with a big attitude! His twolegs usually just let him come and go as he pleased. He liked to think he was very wise and mature when really he was just grumpy. He had decided to go on a quick hunt when the scent of another cat wafted over his senses from not to far off. The tom leaped onto the fence, his recently groomed pelt waving in the small breeze. He glanced around and caught sight of another cat, a tan tom with dark brown legs, face, and tail. The pretty blue collar instantly informed him this cat was a kittypet like him. Although, Bell didn't wear a collar, his twolegs didn't bother. He thought he recognized the cat, having seen him around. He held his head high, glossy, clean fur bouncing as he jumped and started approaching the other tom cat. Might as well try and meet someone with good taste in, say, food, or fun! He prayed this wasn't a tom that didn't even try and hunt.

Lin had turned when he heard the heavy footsteps of his housefolk and purred when he was scratched under his chin. He watched his housefolk return inside and then he cast his gaze out to the other houses. That was when he spotted the other tomcat on the fence. With a striking white and grey pelt, he stood out to Lin immediately. He didn't wear a collar, but he didn't smell of the trees or grass. And, judging by the size of him, he was considerably well fed. Naturally, Lin approached, walking to the edge of his fence post.
"Greetings." He mewed. "I am Lin and I come seeking news, anything will do, I just like being informed, you know. Knowing the latest, if you will." He looked at the cat, blue eyes meeting yellow. "Who might you be?"

The large white tome scoffed, shaking his head as his pale yellow gaze locked onto the other cats. His large, fluffy tail swished behind him calmly. "I don't keep up with these lazy cats drama and talk!" He said, raising his head high as a sense of pride rushed through him. "When I was a kit, cats were let out on their own free will and wandered around, hunting and eating food that's worthy of being called such!" He mrrowed. Despite his words sounding those of an old elders he sounded young, and looked it too. His voice was smooth and silky, waving through the air like a dove flying in the sky. "While others get fat on those rough pebbles, I eat the food on my housefolks table or the occasional gofer their dog catches in our yard." He purred, as though this was some great achievement. "My name is Bell." He responded, gaze suddenly narrowing on Lin. It suddenly clicked in his mind, he had no reason to trust this cat wasn't here to steal any gophers or prey that might be going for his twolegs garden! He wouldn't let that happen. That was his food! He was suddenly on guard.

Lin blinked calmly at the other tomcat. He had a youthful voice, but he complained as though he was as old as Benny, an elderly tabby from three houses down. Lin smiled at him, relaxed and crouched down onto his fence, watching Bell as he spoke.
"Yes, dry food is such a drag." Lin agreed. "When I refused to eat it, my Twolegs gave me wet food, which is considerably more enjoyable." He flicked his ears when Bell narrowed his eyes at him and he waved a paw nonchalauntly. "No need for that. I'm not a hunter, I'm a talker. I just want the company. There's only so much one can achieve with trying to speak with my housefolk." He sighed. "They try their best to reply, but their accent is all wrong and they only jumble my words, it's a disaster, really." So he said, but he let out a mrow of laughter all the same.
"Now then, relax and tell me how you go about this gopher hunt. We don't get much more than the occasional bird in my yard, but I can't imagine eating one of those would be very fun either. Too many feathers." A pause, thinking of what a gopher looked like when he'd spotted one as a youth, months ago. "Do you eat their fur, too?" He asked, with some distaste flitting across his muzzle.

The tomcats eyes brightened considerably as the cat shared his distaste for the disgusting dry pebbles the housefolk fed them. Even though he wasn't much a fan of the wet food, it was better and more meaty then whatever the other stuff was! He listened quietly, his posture relaxing slightly as the cat spoke. He didn't seem a threat to the food in Bell's precious garden and home. Good! Bell scoffed slightly as the tom showed no knowledge about hunting. "Well, it's simple, really! My housefolk have a garden so whenever I find a gopher hole, I wait for their dog to dig it up and kill it. The dumb thing always brings it back to our housefolk, they throw it outside, I get to eat it! Or, of course, the times they come out." He paused, as though for some dramatic affect. "Then you simply jump onto the buggers and start bitin' 'em like a mad cat!" Bell mrrowed. His tail flickered in amusement. "O'course ya do! You eat the whole thing but the bones." He licked his lips at that, seeming delighted by the idea of the dead animal.

Lin smiled in amusement. So this cat didn't actually hunt, he just waited for others to do the hunting for him. He was a fellow kittypet, Lin realized, even if he didn't wear a collar. The idea of this cat co-existing with a dog unnerved him, but he had heard of stranger things, like cats enjoying spending time in water. Now that was a horrifying thought!
Flicking his tail from one side to the other, calmly, he continued to listen, blinking here and there. "Sounds like you have a very extravagant life, being able to eat like you do. What else have you eaten in your lifetime?" He asked, since that seemed to be what this tomcat liked to talk about the most.

His head quickly turned back to look directly at Lin, as he had trailed off slightly. "Extravagant? I wish it was! Not really mean't to be eatin' the prey the housefolk catch, but it sure is good! Sneakin' it's the hard part." He said with the kind of voice and attitude you'd see from a retired old elder after a long, hard life. He held his head high still, tail swishing back and forth gently. His ear twitched slightly and his head tilted. At the question, the tom grew excited once more, it seemed. "It'd take me days to explain to ya all the good prey I eat! But the best, by far, is this thing housefolk call chi... Cheeken? I dunno, but it's good! It's some prey that's been stripped to the meat. They throw 'em in this weird hollow rock and when it comes on out it's hot and delicious! You should try some sometime." Bell purred.

Lin watched the tomcat, his whiskers twitching with amusement. This Bell fellow was of an interesting demeanor and surely, Lin deduced, he would be fun to speak with on more than one occasion. Perhaps he might be able to consider the black and grey tom a close acquaintance in the future.
"How do you know what the housefolk call it?" He asked, inclining his head to one side. "Are you able to effectively communicate with them? I haven't had much luck with mine." He admitted. "They're just so... vocal." He shuddered.

The notion that the other tom couldn't slightly understand his housefolk filled the rowdy young tom with even more pride. "Well, little Lin. It's quite simple!" He purred. He paused for a seemingly dramatic effect. "They yell at me if they catch me and call the thing cheekan. Simple." He mrrowed this with as much dignity as a cat would say they had defeated a giant dog in their yard.
He seemed to have no shame in his quite silly tales or attitude. If anything he thought he was just more experienced than these cats! "I'm a tom with not a lotta things I like, food ain't one of 'em!" He stomped his paw down and turned his muzzle to the sky.

Lin stifled a laugh when Bell called him little, for the tomcat couldn't be much bigger than Lin, unless you counted the size of his stomach. When the other tomcat went on to explain his "technique" if it could even be called as much, Lin listened with curiosity in his gaze, before he finally nodded.
"That's very interesting indeed." He replied and then stretched. "Well, thank you for... educating me on the matter, Bell. It was quite nice to meet you. I would find it rather amiable to meet with you again." He mewed, before turning and waving a farewell with his tail, before he leaped down into his own yard and went to the door to be let in. That was enough socializing for one day.AlicornPlayhouse Do you want to wrap the RP up with your next post?

Bell gave a nod of agreement, it seemed. He seemed to be pleased with himself and the fact he had gotten the other tom to show curiosity at his words. His gaze met Lin's as the tom began to speak. He waited, surprisingly patiently, for the other tom to finish before responding.
"One more cat that doesn't have foolish opinions on food, in my mind!" He purred proudly in return before standing and turning away himself. "Goodbye, little Lin!" He leaped off and headed off towards the other side of the garden, probably to bask in the sun. The other cat had been nice to talk to. Maybe they would meet again someday.. Who knew.
