CIV

Name: Ainsley Mason

Nickname: She doesn’t have one, but her online handle is Commissar_Lain

Age: 17

Birthday: September 15

Sign: Virgo

Gemstone: Sapphire

Blood Type: A-

Fav. Food: Hot Tea & Scones

Hated Food: Anything that gets her fingers greasy

School: Romano's Constitutional Haven (Co-Ed, Highschool)

Hobbies:

Wargaming: Ainsley’s first taste of wargaming came from her father’s collection of WW2 miniatures, the two often going over various battles of the war in the basement. Once she was old enough to start collecting her own miniatures, her interests moved into more contemporary games - Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40K, etc. - as well as Massive Multiplayer Online games that allow her to live out her armchair general fantasies. Ainsley has built a persona for herself when she plays, breaking out of the shell of her normally shy, mousy demeanor to take on the identity of “Commissar Lain.” Dressing up in a cosplay of a military officer, she is usually easy to identify at local wargaming tournaments by both her outfit and her energetic persona.

Miniature Painting: Ainsley loves to paint miniatures. All of her armies are her personal projects, and she takes great pains to try and improve her painting skills with each new miniature she paints. She’s currently working on an armored company for her new Imperial Guard army (She refuses to call them Astra Militarum, that’s just DUMB), and thus spends a lot of her free time putting together tank miniatures and painting them in various and sundry camo colors.

Military Fiction: Inheriting her father’s burning desire to study, consume, and learn all things martial, Ainsley seeks out Military Fiction as her go-to entertainment media. Manga, Anime, Movies, T.V. Shows, you name it - if it has some sort of military conflict, political, physical or otherwise, she’ll consume it. She’s also very partial to alternative history, provided it’s militarily focused.

Virtues:

Pick up the Pieces: Ainsley isn’t afraid to fail or lose, in fact, she welcomes situations where she might do so. To her, they are important learning experiences - helping her hone herself into a better person, by picking up the pieces and putting them back together and learning how to avoid such pitfalls in the future. This goes for social situations as well. If people find her to be a complete mouse, or unable to understand her silence as shyness - that’s on them, not her. She’s doing her best by putting herself into the situation in the first place - they just need to learn how to communicate in a way that doesn’t require talking!

All Ears: Being silent most of the time out of pure shyness, Ainsley has picked up the fine art of listening. As long as something maintains her interest, she will sit in complete silence and listen. This goes for lectures, conversations, etc., if she can hear it - and it holds her attention - she’ll listen. She might not communicate back verbally, but she’ll nod or shake her head as appropriate, should someone be talking in her general direction.

Speak Softly: On the extraordinarily rare occasions that Ainsley does find her voice, she isn’t one to raise it. Unless she’s cloaked herself in the persona of “Commissar Lain” in which case she can be quite boisterous and loud, but again - she tends to keep this confined to her gaming sphere, and she does not cart it out in everyday life as the last thing she wants is to be teased for her hobbies. If anything, when she does speak, its usually in solidarity of an idea, or to support someone, she doesn’t generally speak out of anger, and if she does, it’s usually to herself where others (especially the source of that anger) can’t hear, because she doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.

Flaws:

Mouse: Ainsley is a complete mouse. Shy to the point of silence at times; she tends to keep to herself, finding that isolation - lonely as it might be - to be preferable to the possibility (and often reality) of being teased. It is only when she’s safely behind her finely crafted persona of “Commissar Lain” that she’s able to be any level of outgoing, able to speak to others and laugh and play along with those who share her interests, but she knows that eventually she’ll have to return to being her plain mousey self, so she only brings out her persona at the gaming table, and in chat when she games.

Actually…: Ainsley has a bad habit of correcting things when she thinks they’re incorrect, especially if she’s familiar with a subject. She’s quick to point out inconsistencies in media, eager to correct what she assumes to be a simple lack of education on the subject matter. She has been known to redline entire essays and practically rewrite them for others because she felt that their premise was flawed - or that they were using incorrect information. She rarely directs her statements to anyone in particular due to her mousey nature - but it’s not uncommon to hear her muttering under her breath if something is “wrong.”

Bored Now: If something doesn’t keep Ainsley’s attention, she’s very likely to turn her attention to something that does. Usually this is her hobbies - and it does affect her schoolwork to a degree. She does well in history - at least the parts that cover military conflicts - but everything else tends to lose her attention as she turns her focus to her gaming, painting, and other things that keep her entertained, even if it is during class. She usually keeps a book or something small on her to keep her occupied - knowing better than to try and do anything more overt during school hours.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Round, violet.

Hair: Brown, wavy-curly, falls to her mid back, usually wears it up in a ponytail, braid, or bun.

Face: Oval, small ears, no freckles, pale skin.

Clothes: Lots of long sleeve t-shirts and jeans, long, heavy jackets to try and fade into the background. Dark, muted colors.
