Name || Konami
Gender || Female
Personality ||
      Positive: Bright, creative, dreamer
      Negative: Withdrawn, loner, indecisive

    As a young adult, Konami leaves much to be desired. It wasn’t always that way though. Prone to bouts of daydreaming and fantastical adventures as a child with her brother, his loss has caused her to do a 180. Where she once used to join the other children in play and even taking care of those younger than her, Kona now finds solace in the silence of being alone. It is probably better off that she’s started to prefer things that way as there is only so much space atop the Pillar she sits guard at day in and day out. Left with only her thoughts, however, leaves room for the old day dreams she used to have. But with no one to enact them with her, they stay firmly locked away in her mind. It’s one of the things that saddens her parents the most: the loss of the once creative young girl. They’re not sure how to handle Konami since her brother’s disappearance. She gives no reason to think that anything is wrong besides the fact that she shows that nothing is wrong…or right. The heartbroken sibling has withdrawn inside herself. Her emotions taking place instead in an inner monologue as opposed to being shown to the rest of the world. It’s this combination, of feeling but not feeling, that makes decision making so difficult to her. She knows she shouldn’t make her parents worry, after all they were feeling her brother’s absence as well, but she couldn’t seem to shake the feeling that they should bear the guilt of why he left. Yet she still placed most of it on her own shoulders as she not only mourned his loss but also the loss of the girl she once was.

History:
    Tane and Hine were one of those couples that often gave others relationship goals. They met early in their lives and soon fell in love and became inseparable. It wasn’t long after their marriage that they welcomed the little adventurer Kapena, their curious son. He was definitely a trial to their relationship and they didn’t always get the parenting thing right. They weren’t perfect, they were far from it, but they never gave up. It just wasn’t in their nature, which is something they passed onto their children. After a few years, when Kapena wasn’t quite as much of a handful, they had Konami. The young fishermen knew they had trouble on their hands as their two children got older. They found it easier to let the children do as they pleased, within reason of course, as they continued to provide for their family. Their new ‘hands off’ approach of parenting suited Kona and Kap just fine, it made their adventures that much easier to complete and boy there were quite a few. Together the siblings came up with elaborate stories that Kapena would lead them through. Her older brother was her hero in every way.

    Tane started becoming concerned about his son as he grew. All of his son’s time was spent with their youngest child and while they wanted to encourage their tight relationship, he also knew his son needed to make a place in the world for himself, which playing his little games wouldn’t accomplish. The young couple began to push their son to take an apprenticeship, Kap had been offered numerous not only as favors to his parents but also because others saw potential in him. Time and time again, Kapena would refuse them and return to his younger sister. Kona was blissfully ignorant for quite some time as Kap would try to shield her from it but a particular fisherman became pretty insistent with him in front of her and so he had been forced to explain. It caused Kapena to start pushing back in the form of avoiding any fishermen and taking any jobs that did not involve fishing. They wanted him to get a job, well he did. Tane found himself disappointed in his son, however, and wanted him to ‘pursue the family business’. He even went so far as having Kona (unknowingly) lead him to an impromptu job. It was one of the things that finally pushed him over the edge. Kapena couldn’t understand why his parents couldn’t accept that he didn’t want anything to do with fishing, he wanted to be an adventurer. On that fateful day, he left Konami on the pillar in search of that adventure he craved for real. Konami was not just heart broken, but broken. Her brother had been her world and suddenly her world was without it’s sun. The once bright and creative child became withdrawn and indecisive. She stopped playing or helping with other children and let herself waste away while keeping watch atop the pillar with only her inner monologue to keep her company. It wasn’t until the rains came that anyone saw any improvement from her. The rain had brought with it not only the opening of the passageways again but hope for Konami. That hope was short lived as day after day passed and her brother didn’t return. She needed to have her hero back or perhaps, just maybe, she needed to become someone else's hero.
