Event Prompt 1 of ??? You come home one afternoon to find a package waiting for you in the mailbox. It’s a small parcel with only the image of a smiling, friendly jack-o-lantern where a sender’s address should be. When you open the package, a porcelain pumpkin bearing the same smile as the sender’s image falls into your palm. The only other thing that you can find in the package is a small business card with the name Perniciousa inscribed in gold lettering. When you google the name, nothing comes up but you’re pretty sure you recall seeing a new store pop up with that name on the outskirts of the shopping district of Destiny City. It must be some sort of advertisement for the holiday season - neat! The store doesn't look quite open yet but hopefully it will be in time for the holiday!

Sage walked down the sidewalk with both hands shoved into her pockets, a dark purple scarf wrapped around her neck for added warmth, while she listened to music on her i-pod. While it was a beautiful sunny day with colorful fall trees lining the street in varying hues ranging from vibrant yellows to deep purple, it was unfortunately uncomfortably chilly out. However, it was not enough to deter her from pursuing a curiosity that struck her when she got home the night before.

There, on her doorstep was a package, which surprisingly hadn’t been stolen yet given the recent bouts of theft happening in her neighborhood with the approaching holidays. She had been expecting something from Amazon to be delivered but this box bore no such label on the side. Instead, it had a curious jack-o-lantern sticker in the senderd area Strange she had thought before picking it up to inspect it further. Initially she had assumed it to be some sort of prank, like a box full of dog poop that would explode when jostled which would have made for a very unfortunate event. Thankfully no such scent permeated the cardboard and so, after careful consideration, she took it inside.

For about an hour she had left it on her dining room table while she put her groceries away and worked on making dinner before finally giving in to her curiosity and opened the box. Inside was a small porcelain jack-o-lantern that matched the sticker on the outside of the package. Coincidence, maybe, but it was a unique marketing ploy to say the least. With it, there had been a business card, with the name Perniciousa written on it in fancy font.

The name itself sounded familiar, but until she looked up the website online, Sage really couldn’t recall whether she had seen or overheard someone talking about it before. It was like hearing an actors voice on TV and recognizing it from something she had just recently watched but no matter how intently she listened there was no guessing the name without having to look it up on IMDB. Incidentally, after searching around online it turned out to be a legit store. Kind of… How she managed to get merchandise from a place that wasn’t open yet was beyond her, especially since she hadn’t entered any raffle as of late, but lo and behold it happened.

And so, as the next day rolled on by she had decided sometime after lunch to take the bus and visit this shop for herself since the website didn’t offer up very much helpful information.

“Well I’ll be…” Sage rocked back on her heels and whistled. At a glance she noticed a few other pedestrians gathering around curiously, some of them holding the very card she had stuffed into her pocket. It seemed she wasn’t the only one to receive this mysterious gift. Pity the windows were covered up because wanted nothing more than to be able to peek inside.

Maybe next time.
