With Halloween just around the corner, television stations are constantly playing various spooky themed movies and episodes of your favorite shows. When you sit down to watch something in particular, the screen goes static. You try to change the channel but every one of them is static. If you continue to watch (or attempt to fix the television), an eerie voice comes across the speakers begging for help and that they're coming. No matter what you do or say, they only repeat the same phrases. When you turn off the television and turn it back on again, everything has turned to its regularly scheduled programming.

Bernard lay on the couch, comfy and glad to have his blanket over him. He was currently alone in the home, his owners having gone out to some sort of dinner party, but that suited him just fine. He knew that October was a bit crazier in terms of Negaverse shenanigans, but so far Bernard had been able to miss all of them. The only scary thing that had happened was running into Kaileen and hearing those footsteps, but overall the month hadn’t been that bad. Which meant he had been able to go out and about a bit more before the cold weather really started to set in and he would have to get little booties on his feet to keep them warm.

And so, he was currently resting on the couch, watching some episodes of an old Sherlock Holmes series. Apparently, they figured murder mysteries were as good as any, and Bernard was only happy to oblige in giving them viewership. It was too bad that there were so many commercials though. There were probably parts of the show being cut out just for them. He would have to hint to his owners to get a streaming service instead.

He was lazily watching the screen when suddenly it went to static. His fur-stache scrunched as he made an annoyed face, though he figured that the station had just gone out. For what reason he didn’t know, but it’s not like it would do any good to try to figure it out. The remote was close enough to him, though he had to get out of his warm blanket and moved over to it and pushed the button to change the channel.

And the next channel was static! For a moment Bernard was annoyed once again, and pressed the channel button a few more times, but every station that he went to, there was still static. Which was odd considering that the TV and connection weren’t that old. They shouldn’t be getting static in the first place!

He was just about to turn it off when he heard… something. He wasn’t sure what it was, but it sounded like dialog. He listened closely, turning up the volume a bit more, and was startled when he heard the phrase “they are coming, help!” His fur stood on edge and for a moment he was still, trying to figure out if it was coming from the TV or somewhere around his home. But looking around and moving his ears, he could tell that it was coming from the television. He made a grumpy face and assumed that it was some Halloween prank that the cable company was playing, and subsequently turned off the TV.

If they were refusing to provide the service that his owners had paid for, then he wouldn’t be watching it. Especially with some creepy voice coming out of it. He grumbled to himself as he made his way to the master bedroom and snuggled himself under the blanket on the bed. If he couldn’t watch TV, at least he could be warm and comfy and have a nice nap!
