You're home alone, minding your own business, when you hear the distinct sounds of doors closing and footsteps moving around the house. Upon investigation (should you choose to), you find nothing out of sorts…but the footsteps and doors continue to make noise every time you give up the search. This happens all night, and you can almost swear you see things out of the corner of your eye. It's a restless night, but come morning everything seems back to normal--except, you still have no idea what was going on.

It was date night for Caspian and Michael, and that meant Cassie had the house to herself for a few hours. It didn't really change much as far as behavior--not like was going to run amok though the house and start tearing through the drawers or closets--but it did mean she didn't have to worry about walking around in just a tee shirt and underwear, since neither or twin nor his husband was around to be bothered by it. Admittedly, she wasn't sure if either of them would even care, but she had more respect than assume it'd be fine. They were doing her a favor, she wasn't going to be an a*****e in their house.

Dinner had been easy, she'd just heated up some left overs she'd found in the fridge, meatloaf and potatoes. After that she'd decided to treat herself to a bath, since she knew she wasn't going to be tying up the bathroom with no one else around to need it. Warm and relaxing, she'd lingered in the heat long enough for the lasting ache in her healing ribs to fade away, music playing from her phone on the counter top a few feet away. She wasn't sure how long she stayed in there, but by the time she was finished it was dark out, street lamps glowing out the windows.

She was walking down the hall towards her room when she thought she heard a door opening and closing somewhere in the house. Assuming it was her brother and brother-in-law coming home she hurried her towel clad a** into her room and closed the door, quickly changing before heading back out towards the living room. "Hey, how was din...er..." She trailed off as she realized the lights were still off, the house still quiet. Brows furrowing as she headed for the kitchen. Empty, no signs that anyone had been there since Cassie had cleaned up after diner. "Okay, that's weird."

Footsteps in the hall snapped her head around, and she walked quickly over to check it out, leaning in the open archway to peer down the length of the hall. Nothing there.

She was hearing things. That was cool. Totally nothing to worry about there.

Dragging her phone out of her pocket she debated texting Caspian, but thought better of it before she hit send. Instead she deleted it, scrolled through her contacts, and then just stuffed the phone in her pocket again with a sigh. It wasn't like she had that many people to turn to, and what would she have even said? Hi, I keep hearing doors opening and the house is empty? No thank you.

She snorted, then jumped as door slammed somewhere in the house with enough force to rattle a few pictures on the wall. "Son of a b***h!" What the ******** was going on in here?!

Slender fingers wrapped around the henshin pen buried in her other pocket as she blew out a careful breath and left the kitchen, flipping on lights as she moved from room to room. There was nothing to find. No hint that there was anyone in the house but her, but that did very little to ease frazzled nerves. She still felt uneasy and exposed, and it was that that had her reaching for her phone to call her brother. Just to see what time he and Michael were thinking of coming home...

"Hey, Cas? No rush or anything..."
