It was dark, and the cold was starting to settle into Avicennite's bones. A chill ran down her spine, tiny goosebumps pricking at her skin - that definitely meant that it was time to wrap up her patrol and sneak back into the Romano dorms for the night. Slipping into the comforting darkness of an empty alleyway, Avicennite allowed her guise as a Negaverse Senshi to disappear and be replaced by the comforts of her own, regular clothes and the warmth of her thick winter jacket. While there hadn't been snow on the ground yet, Felicity did not at all enjoy being cold (especially after a long night) so she had taken her jacket out of the back of the closet earlier than usual. She smiled to herself as she lifted her shoulders so the neckline of her jacket pressed up against her face, shoved her hands into her pockets, and continued on her walk.
Suddenly, she heard the sound of footsteps behind her -- she stopped, turned and checked, only to see that there wasn't anyone there. Maybe they had managed to get inside quickly? Deciding she had nothing to worry about, she kept on her way... Except the moment she began to walk again, she could hear the footsteps.
Did someone see her power down?
A sense of panic began to settle in at the idea of someone now knowing her identity. Her pace quickened along with her heart rate, and it seemed that the person behind her was keeping up. She had a decision to make.
She clenched her fists in her pockets, stopped, and whirled around ready to tell the stranger exactly where to go and what she would do to them if they didn't abide immediately. But there was no one, only darkness and silence. Felicity pulled her cellphone out of her pocket and thumbed the flashlight on in order to get a better look in all of the shadows, to see if someone was hiding.
"Hey!," she called out, to whoever or whatever it was that she was absolutely positive was lurking nearby. "I won't hurt you if you just..." she trailed off, swallowed, tried to find her confidence. "If you just, go away!"
That'll show 'em. She waited, listened. When she was finally satisfied that maybe there wasn't someone following her, she turned to walk again. Eager to get home, her walk turned into a light jog- at one point she felt a hand touch her arm as if there was an attempt to grab her and she shrieked and turned her jog into a full blown sprint. She ran as fast as she could to her usual entry/exit point at Romano's, slipped quickly onto the grounds and ran to her dorm.
Maybe she would avoid patrolling this time of year. That would be totally acceptable right? Just call up her General and be like "Oh you know, it's just to spooky for me, sorry boss" -- yep, that would definitely go over well.
When she was safely inside she pressed her back to a familiar wall, closing her eyes and taking a moment to catch her breath and calm down. It was all in her head, just her imagination running wild, she tried to tell herself. Eventually she convinced herself to go back to her room and try and get some sleep. Everything was fine.
Probably.
