Erich was getting angrier as the days went on, unable to fully get a good night’s sleep since having gotten that, as he called it, “stupid f****** pumpkin s***” and was starting to wonder if keeping it was a good idea. He hadn’t even brought it inside and yet it strange things still seemed to be happening. He wasn’t sure if it was from the pumpkin or from just being October, or even being in the Negaverse, but whatever it was, he wanted it to end. Unfortunately it’s a bit hard to just stop something when supernatural forces are behind it with no scientific explanation, so he wasn’t able to do much other than try to sleep somewhere else or power through it. He had tried sleeping outside a bit, but the weather hadn’t been good enough to stay out in, and he could have sworn that eve the animals were angrier than usual.
Which meant that he had been having to sleep in his apartment, and every night he was plagued with horrible nightmares. Luckily he couldn’t remember most of them, but that didn’t make it any easier to sleep. These days he considered an hour of good sleep enough for him, though he knew he couldn’t last long. He needed to look into fixing this as soon as possible.
The supernatural had always bothered Erich. It was one of the reasons he had gotten into Environmental Science. He didn’t like not knowing how things worked, and he wanted an explanation to everything that was out there. Surely there had to be some reason why this was happening? Perhaps it was a curse? He wouldn’t be surprised if these were a plot by the Negaverse to drain unsuspecting civilians’ energy. And of course they had targeted their own members before, so why should it be a surprise that there would be others who would do the same?
And even powering up into Geocronite didn’t help to alleviate it at all. Instead he seemed even worse than when he was just a civilian, so he avoided powering up while he was still suffering from… whatever it was. If it was pumpkin gas from the Scarecrow at least there would be an explanation for all of these weird happenings.
And of course not being able to get a good nights sleep, couple with his energy being drained by being irritable all the time, it wasn’t a pleasant place to be in. He half wondered if he should get some sort of sleep study done, but decided that it wouldn’t be worth it. Whatever it was, he doubted it would go past Halloween. So if he could just make it till then…
Though there was the problem of his studies not being on par like they used to, and he felt as though he was falling behind too much because of the lack of sleep, which made him have a lack of energy to study or complete any homework and labs that were assigned, but it seemed that many others besides him were miserable too. He wouldn’t be surprised if they were able to make this stuff up later in extra credit or something.
