You’re finding it difficult to sleep and when you do manage to sleep, your dreams are plagued with nightmares. The weird symptoms don’t fade when you power up - you’re just as irritable, if not even more, when you roam the streets as your alter ego. What's gotten into you all of a sudden? Lovejoy had been looking forward to Patrol Night with Abstracta for an entire week... well, at least until a few days before the night actually arrived. Patrol Night wasn't usually more than just dinking around as senshi as opposed to the graveyard invaders they normally were - sometimes they managed to collect some energy with their wraiths while other times they successfully avoided work altogether and instead successfully dodged having to do any work. Either way, it usually meant an enjoyable evening but as Beatrice had found herself growing more irritable over the last couple days, that enjoyment was quickly waning. She was half tempted to cancel on the other girl but decided at the last minute that she was more or less obligated to at least show up at the pre-arranged meeting spot. Ngh. Leaning against the light pole on the designated street corner, tired eyes began to lower as Lovejoy fought to keep herself awake. Nightmare after nightmare had been plaguing her sleep -- heck, she didn't even want to sleep anymore, out of fear of what her brain would think up next. She was gonna have to lay off the sugar or monster movies before bed or something, clearly.

Nightmares were pretty par the course for young Ellenore Blackwall while growing up, so much so that at some point in elementary school she had stopped being afraid of them and embraced them. She wandered the haunted corridors filled with flickering lights and chilling wails, playing hide and seek with the skeletons and coming up with ways to communicate with the spirits that were clearly trying to talk to her through these 'nightly visions'. It was the overall normalcy of her regular nightmares that made the more recent once so... Awful. On more than one occasion she'd woken from a deep sleep in a panic, drenched with sweat, unable to drift back to sleep afterwards for fear that she might pick up in the dream right where she'd left off. The lack of sleep was starting to get to her, making her waspish and snappy. She'd almost wound up in the principle's office earlier that day, just narrowly missing a detention by catching herself and apologizing to her math teacher before silently scribbling away at homework for the rest of class. Several hours, a quick cat-nap and a Java Monster later, Sea slipped out the back door and powered up so that she could meet with Bea -- Lovejoy, she reminded herself. Abstracta slowed as she neared the designated meeting place, an odd anxiousness overtaking her as she'd made her way down the street. Something didn't feel right. Maybe Mercury was in retrograde... "Yo, LJ! Hope you weren't waiting too long. Air feels wrong tonight... Too antsy to stay at home kind of wrong. You feel it?"

Dark eyes turned at the "Yo", the aura of the other senshi giving away her appearance before her greeting had the chance to. Still, Lovejoy made no effort to move away from the pole she was resting against, although her eyes were at least more open than they had been, only moments prior. "Bout time," she snapped, arms folding over her chest as she let out a soft huff, "Almost went home, no sense waiting around if we're not gonna get anything done." Almost immediately, she caught her attitude and felt ashamed of herself. It wasn't like Abstracta had been too late - she'd only shown up a few minutes after Lovejoy's arrival. Maybe the lack of sleep was getting to her more than she realized it. "Sorry." Pushing off the pole, ruffles and fabric were shoved aside as she moved to approach the other girl, looking at least somewhat sincere in her apology. "Not really having the best couple of days, lately." Shoulders shrugged and she gave credit to the other girl's suggestion. "Maybe it's air related. Maybe it's a curse. Dunno, s'just annoying, I guess."

Abstracta deflated as Lovejoy snapped, her own brow furrowing as she took a step away from her friend as the other girl stepped closer. That off feeling just continued to grow, the initial wariness blossoming into paranoia as it fed off the agitation. LJ wouldn't be mean to her intentionally, would she? No, of course not. They were too good of friends for any cattiness like that. It wasn't like she had to worry that LJ was going to attack her out of nowhere or anything. Unless this isn't real. This could be a nightmare too. What if you're asleep? What if you're dreaming? Abstracta shook her head, bringing a hand up to rub at her face. "I dunno what's been going on lately, LJ. Just... Strange magic? Weird s**t? Are curses real?" She meant in the Magical sense, like being Magical Girls was real. Not like good luck charms and fortune telling. "You need to talk?"

"We already are talking, dummy." The snap came out again, a sudden burst of attitude spurning from hours and hours of tossing in the bed, unable to actually fall asleep like she knew she needed to. People needed sleep or else they'd go crazy. She once read about how some guy had gone like, six days without sleep and pretty much went insane before his brain sizzled out and he died. She didn't want her brain sizzling out and the rest of her dying but at the same time, her brain was refusing to sleep and the whole thing was just REALLY pissing her off. "Ngh. I don't know, I need a de-curser if they are." The sigh she offered was dramatically long and audible. "It's stupid. Not being able to sleep is stupid. Patrolling is stupid. Honestly, right now, everything and anything is just plain ol stupid, I don't even know why we're out here right now."

"Alright, I've had about enough of the name calling tonight, LJ... I get it, I was a little late and you're obviously in a mood." Wasn't everyone lately? How many people had she crossed paths with in town who weren't some sort of sleep-deprived and cranktastic? Not many. That was how many. "So let's do something about it. Let's... I dunno. Get all that extra energy out of our systems. Wear ourselves out so much that we can't do anything but sleep. How about you take some of that sass and fight me, Lovejoy. Catch me if you can!" She flashed a grin at her friend, something about it not quite her usual. It didn't reach her eyes, and if she was being honest she was looking forward to a scuffle... But not without putting a little bit of distance between them first. "Abstracta's Apparition!" Ghouliboo The How To: Now you see me? Now you don't. Upon uttering the name of her attack, Abstracta 'disappears'-- or it seems that way, at least. In the style of survival horror Abstracta is surrounded by 'static' (think old black and white television static) and suddenly moves from point A to point B. Abstracta's magic can be activated instantaneously, although it may be likely to fail until she's mastered it (likely to disorient her during early use). Range: Point A and Point B can be no more than five feet from one another. Magic is used to either gain distance on or put distance between. Uses: 3

Wait... so now she was being attacked?Nevermind the fact that Abstracta's attack wasn't actually an attack so much as an illusion, the fact the other girl was using her magic in any sort of way against her was clearly an attempt at trying to fight her, in Lovejoy's ultra grumpy mind. "What the hell, Abs?" Dark eyes darted around, trying to figure out where the other senshi went to. It irritated her even more to not be able to find her -- she wasn't in the mood for stupid games, she just wanted to get this stupid patrolling over with so she could get back to her stupid night full of... well, whatever! Unsure of where to even aim, her finger did a random circle and pointed in a general direction of where she assumed the other girl would end up. Calling down her attack, the cross looking dark mirror senshi let out off her attack with a loud cry of, " SUPER CONFUSION!" Skye Starrfyre Feel free to have her miss, if you'd rather! She's just shooting blindly in her semi-rage. Super Sailor Scout Attack: Super Confusion!Spinning her finger in a circular motion, Lovejoy's attack strikes once her finger stops and points in her opposition's direction, shooting out into a swirly (yet directionally straight) line that goes out to a maximum of 10ft. If hit, this attack forces them under a momentary wave of confusion as to the current situation. This lasts for the duration of 1 RP post, the power waning and possibly still leaving the opponent disoriented for the 2nd RP post. Attack can pertain to however the opposing player wills it - confused as to where they are, why they are fighting, who they are, etc. This attack can affect up to 3 individuals, as long as they're near each other. x2 usage.

Lovejoy's attack hit her square in the chest and she stumbled back as the confusion set in, eyes widening with the surprise of it all. Abstracta was already disoriented from using her own magic, the static 'shift' more jarring to her reality than anything else when coupled with her friend's magic. This wasn't fair. This wasn't the way tonight was supposed to go. Abstracta sniffed before plopping down onto the ground, head throbbing with the swirl and sway and Lovejoy had attacked her. In the confusion of it all she couldn't recall why or how, only that things were absolutely awful. "I... I want to go home," she wailed. Ghouliboo I'm sorry. Worst battle ever.

As soon as the magic left her hands, her angry, fussy brain finally clicked and behaved well enough for Lovejoy to realize she'd just sent an attack to one of her best friends. No matter how mad she was, there was absolutely no reason to be attacking someone and she'd let her sour mood get the worse of her in the absolute worst of ways. When Abstracta fell to the ground sobbing, the loud wails did two things. First, they annoyed the absolute crap out of the white haired senshi, the pitch and volume both grating to her already irked ears. Secondly, it made LJ feel really, really bad. "H-Hey, stop crying. Abs, it's okay, it was just a spar." It was easier for her to lie through her teeth about it than admit she was just being a royal witch with a capital B about the situation. No matter how late Abs had been to showing up for their patrol, she didn't deserve this kind of treatment and LJ knew it. Walking over to the other girl, she offered one hand and attempted the best smile she could muster, which was a strain but she tried. "Look - I'm sorry, okay? It's just been... a day. Lemme walk you home; ice cream on me, on the way?" Skye Starrfyre LMAO poor Sea sad Wrap us up, lady!!!!

Abstracta was sorely tempted to swat Lovejoy's hand away and just get up on her own. A follow-up thought was that she could take Lovejoy's hand, tug her to the ground and then they could both sit there and wallow. Neither thought seemed fantastic, so she sniffled again before reaching up to take the offered hand. "M'sorry. It was my fault anyways," she muttered as she pulled herself up, giving LJ's hand a reassuring squeeze before letting go so that she could dust herself off. One day she'd get the hang of this senshi stuff and maybe not be such a useless magical girl when it came to spars and fights. "Mint chocolate chip? The green kind, though. Ice cream place in the plaza by the grocery store was advertising monster sundaes for Halloween..." The lingering effects of the confusion spell were wearing off enough that for a moment she felt almost mellow and just a little bit normal. "We can go halfsies -- someone actually paid me for a card reading at school today." And just like that, they were off on another adventure -- just two girls and whatever weird, mind bending magic they'd managed to thwart.... For now
