Riverpaw slept soundly towards the front of the apprentice's den. She had waited so long for this day and she was determined to get a good nights rest to have plenty of energy for the training that awaited her. Finally she would have a mentor teach her the ways of hunting. No more practice pouncing on leaves or her friends, oh no, this would be real hunting. Excited as she may have been, the lack of food led to a lack of energy and aided in the young she-cats restful sleep.

The moment Dawnbreak spoke, Riverpaw's eyes opened and her head snapped up. It was time! Finally it was time! Without hesitation Riverpaw rose to her paws and padded out of the den to greet her mentor, Dawnbreak. Of all the warrior cats in the clan, River was beside herself with joy that Dawnbreak was the one to take her on as an apprentice. She looked up to the grey pelted she-cat. Dawnbreak took initiative, she wasn't afraid to go out and do what she thought was the best thing to do and Riverpaw admired that.

Oh yes, she was going to learn from the warrior and then go prove that she too had what it takes to catch anything and everything.

"Alright!" Riverpaw said as she left the den, the excitement clear in her voice. "I'm ready!" Her tail swished behind her showing her eagerness to get started.
