After having met Gevaudan, the sounds of the words he said, and the words that had been bothering her for some weeks in her head kept running through her mind even MORE. It was like, now, that she knew what a Wonder was and how to get there, hers was actively harassing her to come visit it. She had been fighting the urge to just Power Up and say the damn words for DAYS now, and it was beginning to drive her more then a little crazy. So, today, Seren had decided it was time to STOP this utter nonsense, before she lost her s**t completely.
She went off to a park, out of the way of anyone, near the house, and found a good, quiet spot, then powered up. Cheomsongdae sighed softly, staring at the little Wand in her hand, wondering why the hell anyone would consider something like that a WEAPON, then tucked it into her belt, as usual. She looked around, making sure there were still no other people around... The last thing she wanted was for someone to SEE her disappear, or reappear when she returned... Anyways. She took a deep breath, and stepped away from anything too close by, just in case something... untoward... happened when she said the phrase.
"I pledge my life and loyalty to Cosmos and to Cheomsongdae.
I humbly request your aid, so that in return I may give you mine!"
There was a moment of silence, of nothingness, it felt like to her... And then everything rippled, like it had when Gevaudan took her to Gevaudan. She had to control the urge to fall over, because it felt so weird, and this time it she didn't have someone holding her hand. She shuddered and managed to keep herself from falling on her rump... Barely. She closed her eyes for a long moment, calming herself and her stomach, which had been unsettled. She took several deep breaths, then opened her eyes again.
She stared around her, in awe, at where she found herself. She was at the base of a huge observatory tower, set on a high mountain. This place seemed to mostly get light from the stars above, which made it perfect for an observatory. She stared up at it, and began to circle it. It was at least 25 meters in diameter, and a good 100 meters tall. Finally, she circled back to the door, which is what she had landed in front of. She bit her lip, considering her options... then reached over to open it, wondering if it was locked.
If it was, it unlocked at her touch, because the door swung open with ease. She blinked for a moment, then stepped inside. It had clearly once been a beautiful place, but now it was dusty, having been untouched for... who knows how long? But it was well preserved, and not trashed, like Gevaudan's place had been. She began to wander, examining everything. It looked as if it had been abandoned, all those many years ago, without anything taken that wasn't personal. And even some things like that had been left, she found, as she peeked in doors, and found pictures of long dead families on desks.
She found an elevator, and tested it, curious to see if it would still work. To her amazement, it did, indeed, seem to work. She wasn't sure if she trusted it... It was more like an unenclosed platform of carved silver, with a control panel in the center, and it looked TERRIFYING to her, and her fear of heights, but... it would also, she supposed, be a good way to force herself to deal with heights too. After watching it go up and down a few times, she finally gave in and got on. She considered the buttons, and decided to go all the way up.
She could explore the rest at other times, after all.
The elevator moved smoothly up, though she heard some rather scary sounding creaks and groans in the mechanics... But it worked. It got her to the top, and she carefully stepped off. It was split between two areas... One half was a large room, lined with bookcases and scroll holders, that had several desks with maps of stars, and strange writing on it. There was also a telescope that pointed out through a hole in the ceiling. There was also a door in the wall, and when she opened it, it showed the other half, a platform that was set up as a place to just come out and sit, staring up at the vast starscape above. Cheom gasped in awe and moved out to it. There were various sitting places, made out of cement or something equivalent, and ancient pillows left on them... that she did not touch, after the one she _did_ puffed into dust, from having been left there, exposed, for too long. She found a bench that did not have anything she could damage on it, and sat down, staring up into the stars. Nothing looked familiar, but it was still amazing.
She sat there, for a long time, lost in thought and the stars above, then she slowly stood up and went back to the elevator. On her way to it, a large podium or something, that looked like it was designed for someone to stand at while gazing at the stars, so they could take notes on what they were seeing above them. She went over to it, and brushed her fingers across the top. To her great surprise, the surface shimmered, and went clear. She could see, inside of it, a ring... a rather lovely ring. She examined the podium, trying to find a way to open it, to see if she could examine the ring closer. She felt like this was important.
After several minutes, she was about to give up, when her fingers brushed across a small bump on the very top of the podium, above the glass (or whatever the material was), and the lid popped open. She jumped, surprised, then she reached down, to gently pick up the ring, tentatively at first. When it was clearly sturdy enough to be touched, she pulled it out all the way, and held it in her hands. It was gorgeous, and she realized, a Signet style ring... And the symbols on it felt familiar. After a moment, she laughed, and just decided to try it on. She doubted it would fit, and for a moment, it did not seem to... But then it glowed, and slid right onto her middle finger. She was astonished, especially when some messages appeared, old ones about various things that had happened in the past. She read them, then reverently tucked them into the place where the ring had been. She pressed the bump... and it closed, staying clear but shut.
After a long moment of looking, she headed back to the elevator, and then out, shutting the door behind her. Once she was done, she went home, eyes closed. It was an interesting night, after she powered down, because people she knew commented on her new ring... but did not seem to see the symbols. She paid attention to that, because it seemed important.
