It’s not every day that Ella got invited to tour a media conglomerate. Sure, she was a fellowship scholar and she’d dazzled most of her first year teachers with her coding brilliance, but this was the big leagues. Argent Industries was a company on the up and up, and if Ella could sink her claws in while they were still expanding, then she put herself on the fast track to a top-tier internship, maybe even one where she’d get paid. It was a lucrative, exciting opportunity, one that should have inspired Ella to be on her best behavior, just like Mom and Dad said.

Well. It wasn’t like she was misbehaving, per se. Ella just didn’t feel all that...impressed. Was she supposed to kiss these people’s feet, just for being good at their jobs before she was? Ella considered herself already among peers, and that was the thought she’d had in mind when dressing herself for the interview. She wore slacks and a blazer, because they made her feel professional and feeling the part was half the battle, but under that she wore a screen printed tee with some video game reference on it. Slouched on one of the couches in the waiting room, she typed away at her sticker-covered laptop, reviewing the code that had landed her the interview in the first place.

You can also create fun scavenger hunts using hot-spot integration, to make sure your attendants aren’t missing a thing. Coming soon--add a UR code to con badges so that users can friend each other on the con floor and chat within the app itself, making lifelong friends.

Conmaps--Nerd Smarter, Not Harder.

It wasn’t exactly as polished as Ella had hoped for, and the back-end code was a nightmare, but no one without proficiency in Unity would have any way of knowing. It wasn’t a bad first draft considering she’d done most of the coding at four in the morning the day of the deadline, and besides, they had entire departments to make art and write content. Why should she have to try and make everything look great? The code was robust, and that’s what should matter on her end. She nodded to herself, sipped on an energy drink to banish the bags under her eyes, and waited patiently for her turn.

After the convention, Jade had been extraordinarily busy at Argent Industries. The re-branding was doing wonders for visibility and they'd pulled an excellent draw of potential interns and hires along with companies (and people) hoping to affiliate with them. She had never intended to be in the type of corporate position she was in now, but things changed and she'd been expected to step up to the plate after she and Chase had disposed of Mr. Renegade.

A performer to her core, Jade masked the fact that she was relatively out of her element decently enough.

Especially during the interviews. She often held the interviews, because Chase was too busy, Levi indisposed, and because she was the most recognizable of all of them. At some point she had stopped keeping track of how many people she'd seen in a day, let alone the ratio of interviewees to hires (which was pitifully small) because she wasn't just interviewing for an internship or a position in the company.

She was interviewing for potential recruits and if they seemed promising, she'd offer them a job and a chance to join.

After sending one particularly bad interviewee away, Jade assembled her things and headed out to collect the next person.

"Ella Barnett?"

Ella at least had the sense to sit up straight when her name was called, sliding her phone into a pocket and smoothing out the lines in her jacket. "The one and only," she quipped back with a lazy grin, stretching her arms behind her back, until she realized she was looking at Jade Argent--the Jade Argent, the Argent part of Argent Industries and a local celebrity. Her arms lowered as her eyebrows rose. But she could play it cool. She had to play it cool, if she was joining the big leagues, so she bit her tongue and shrugged her shoulders and did her best effort to feel effortless.

"It's cool to finally meet you," she nodded, though she didn't extend her arm for a handshake, palms hiding in the pockets on her jacket. Ella tried not to feel like she was 16 again, watching this woman's living room talks. That was like, three years ago, and now she was an adult and she wasn't going to go all starry-eyed just because someone had gotten a bunch of views on the internet. Think fast--make conversation. You are selling yourself here--eyes up, stand tall, be personable. You've got this.

"...Did you enjoy the con?" Ella asked, tilting her head to resist the urge to bite her cheek. The con she worked the whole time. Sure she had a great time. Nice thinking, Fran.

A woman used to watching the way recognition blossomed over people's faces, Jade seem nonplussed by the way her interviewee's demeanor shifted upon realizing who she was. Her smile was polite and professional as always and she gestured for Ella to make her way into the next room.

There they'd find a desk, some chairs in which Jade took one and looked expectantly at the other.

The manila folder she held in her arms was set before her, opening to peruse the information that had been gathered on the young woman.

"It's nice to meet you too Miss Barnett," Jade replied, flipping through things before small talk was made.

"It was an excellent networking opportunity and a fantastic way to reintroduce the company to DC." Which had been the point. Her personal enjoyment was limited, events like that had made her mildly nervous after what happened at the music festival a few years back, but now that things had been settled and security beefed, it was fine.

"Enough about me, tell me about your app."
