Aria -
The alarm might have a snooze, but she had set it where he probably couldn't easily reach it, and it was just barely in her reach, to encourage her to not even try. She made soft sounds in her sleep, nothing quite to the level of snoring, but enough that if someone was magically observing, they'd know she was fully out. When the alarm went off, she flung her arm out to try to grab it, not really aware if either of them had shifted while asleep.

Pao -
They had shifted. Quite a bit, actually, though Nate wasn't aware of it either. As far as he was concerned it was just him and his pup on the sofa, as usual.

It took a second for the alarm to at least partly pull of him out of sleep mode, so when the sound started registering he mumbled quietly before heaving a deep sigh and pulling whatever softness was beside him a little bit closer. "Work alarm..." he murmured, snuggling into that softness, eyes still closed. "Mm...too comfortable," he went on, still mostly asleep. "Five more minutes. Won't be late, promise..."

Aria -
She blinked as she suddenly realized that they were basically... snuggled together, due to shifting while they slept. She froze for a moment, then picked up the phone, lifting it to quiet it.

She looked down at their position, and tried to figure out how to handle this. Should she gently wake him up? Give him that five minutes? The way he was talking, it was almost as if part of him was subconsciously aware there was someone else there that he was cuddling into. She bit her lip for a long moment, though her lips were curved up, because it felt nice to be snuggled against her friend like this, before she finally said "C'mon, Nate... We gotta get up..." in a soft tone, not wanting him to flail or something.

She just hoped he would not freak out.

Pao -
He snuggled in a little more at her words, a sleepy act of defiance. And he nuzzled into her as he shook his head. "One more minute," he murmured quietly, into her shoulder as it were. And everything was still blissfully black for maybe a half minute before Remy barked, a too-far-away sound for the pup to actually be beside him.

Slowly, almost cautiously, Nate opened his eyes and blinked at the body beside him. Seren was the only logical person it could be, and he blinked a few more times before he fully processed the situation. Once he did he pulled his arm away so she could get free of him, though other than that he didn't move at all. "Uh...right, sorry..."

Aria -
She couldn't not chuckle at the way he tried to coax her to give him another minute, and grinned at Remy's bark, finding it a little cute, the way this was going. At the same time, it could get awkward but... She couldn't help but think she was envious of people who had someone to snuggle, honestly, because that was the best nap she'd had in a good while. "C'mon..." She murmured back.

Seren watched him slowly wake and process, her brows lifted. When he moved his arm, she thought he was going to get up all the way, but when he did not... That was something that made her eyes widen, as she processed the idea that he did not mind being snuggled against her. "Ah... It's alright... We were asleep, I know you were not trying to do something inappropriate. And I slept really well, so..." She would have shrugged but she didn't want to whack him in the ear.

Pao -
He wasn't entirely sure it was a good enough reason, but as long as she was okay he didn't make any sounds to protest. Instead he closed his eyes again and sighed, his head falling slightly forward so he was resting it against her shoulder again. And he waited for her to move first. It seemed the smarter thing to do rather than force his way up into a sitting position and risk her slipping off the sofa.

He found himself thinking, though, that if she wanted to stay like that for a little longer he wouldn't mind. It was comfortable, to say the least...and it did feel good to have another body beside him. He'd slept pretty damn well, too. "Really tempted to ask for three more minutes, gotta say. You can tell it takes a while for me to actually get up, so."

Aria -
She considered the situation, and found herself thinking he either really did not want to get up from his nap, or... there was something else going on that she... was totally missing, and confused by, to be honest. But she was not gonna push him, yet. They had some time, before the move taking to long was actually a serious concern, and since he was doing her a huge favor today, it seemed more fair that he got the chance to rest when he needed or wanted.

He was warm and cozy, too, which made it harder to want to move. "Mmmm getting up sucks, let's be honest. If you want to rest a little more, though, I am ok with that... We have some time." She gave him a small smile, and controlled the urge to reach up and brush his hair back. "But not a huge amount."

Pao -
She...didn't get up. Which was odd, sure, but did he mind? No, as he figured earlier that he wouldn't. She even said he could take a few more minutes to rest. They had time. He hadn't been keeping track of the time earlier so he didn't know how long they actually had, but he wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. Instead he just got comfy again and closed his eyes.

"If you're sure," he said as he shifted a little bit from behind her. He kept his hands to himself, of course, and as he shifted he became a little more aware of how they were positioned and where things lined up. "Hm..." he mused, eyes still closed as he nestled against her. "You still okay? Feel free to elbow me if you think you have to." There was a small pause before he tacked on, "Y'know, to wake me up or...whatever."

Aria -
She chuckled at the way he settled down, and just reached over to pet Remy as he did so, perfectly fine to relax for another few minutes. She settled back, and hmm'd softly, her other hand settling in her own lap to avoid the chance of touching Nate in a way that was not appropriate for their level of friendship. She honestly had no idea how being snuggled in like this fit in there, but she was in no rush to argue with it.

"I'm sure. I'll let you sleep a few more, then wake you up for sure this time." She smiled a little, not that he could see it, allowing herself to indulge in how nice it felt to be here. "And yes, I'm still ok. I promise I'll say something if I get uncomfortable, or you need to wake up." She relaxed for about five minutes, letting him enjoy resting, before she finally said "Alright, we really do need to get up now... And it would be best if you moved off me, because I don't want you to whack your head on the arm of your couch when I stand up." She sounded firm, this time.

Pao -
"Thanks," Nate said, smiling as she gave the OK. Once he was fully comfortable he finally settled down and relaxed. He wasn't thinking too far ahead about this, whether snuggling like this merely toed that line of friendship or totally crossed it, but he was comfortable and, at least for the moment, that was all he cared about. And the fact that she seemed perfectly comfortable, too. Which worked for him.

So he snoozed lightly for the extra time that she gave him, and when she eventually tried to wake him up he stirred easily. "Okay," he murmured, still against her shoulder, but he was smiling. Mostly because she actually considered that, and he suddenly felt a little bit stupid to think that it was maybe something else. She was being nice, alright. That made sense; she'd always been nice to him. So with slightly flush cheeks he sat himself up, then waited for her to do the same before he adjusted himself so he was properly sitting on the couch now.

"Coffee, my treat, then we drive?" he offered, glancing over at her, then at Remy who was at her feet. The pup had gone back to snoozing not so quietly, making cute little growling noises in his sleep.

Aria -
Seren blinked, seeing the way he got up with flushed cheeks, but gave him a warm smile, comfortable with him like no one else, and finding it kind of cute. She wondered what had brought the blush to his cheeks, because it wasn't something she was used to seeing on Nate's face, in any way at all. She did sit up, as well, however, and she reached over to pat his hand in a friendly way.

And then his offer for coffee got her eyes to light up happily. "Oh that would be lovely, Nate! I don't get coffee too often, to be honest." She reached down, giving Remy a soft rub without even thinking about it, like it was the most natural thing in the world for her to pet the dog at her feet. She glanced down, though, when she noticed the growling noises, and gave a soft, friendly chuckle. "Oh Remy." She whispered softly, as she carefully stood, stretching herself fully, before turning to face Nate and offer him a hand up.

Pao -
"Coffee's a lifeline for me," he admitted rather proudly, and with a bright expression since she had accepted the offer. It was something to look forward to; his favorite coffee spot was right nearby, too, so it wouldn't be long until he had a nice cup of coffee in his hands. "But yeah, usually I just stick to home brews since it's a little more affordable. Going out's kinda like a treat for me, too."

He stretched out in his seat for a moment, watching her curiously as she pet his dog. The two had gotten awfully close and it was a nice little scene to see, so he snapped a mental picture of it before going back to stretching. When she offered him a hand he took it, then stretched a little more once he was standing before he nodded toward the door. Gimme a sec to clean up here, I'll meet you downstairs? Or out in the hall, if you wanna go take another quick look through your place, just in case."

"I'll wrap your cupcake for the road," he followed up, already moving toward the dining table to cover up what was left of the food and returning it to the cooler.

Aria -
"I tend to drink more tea than coffee, but I do love good coffee." She moved to look out the window, curious as to his view, since he was in the other side of the hall, and controlled the urge to sigh. She found herself wishing that they'd fallen asleep like that sooner... They could have enjoyed naps together, it would have been...

Her brain suddenly hit her with the realization of what is had been like and her eyes widened. It would have been like having a boyfriend or something, and she was... Kind of ok with the realization that she was thinking that way. But she still didn't think he was thinking that way about her, so she tried to keep it hidden. She was mostly successful, but he might notice pinkness in her cheeks, and a slightly shy look on her face as she turned when he suggested they meet downstairs.

"Um. Yeah! Ok, that works for me. I'll take a quick look, then head down and see you there." She gave him a slightly over bright smile, in her attempt to hide her thoughts, and went to do so, before getting down to lean against the wall by the front door... The one they'd met at, in such an unusual fashion.

Pao -
He watched her out the corner of his eye, a little curious as to what was going through her head. It'd been a strange but comfortable thing to wake up to, them lying on the couch in the position that they were in. Not that she had protested at all, in fact she even extended the time just a little bit, but he wondered if she was thinking about it in the same light that he was.

The over bright smile was met with a slightly quirked brow and an amused expression, but he left it alone and gave a passing, "Alright, see you down there," as he went about getting the table cleared off. The extra food and tea was back in the cooler soon enough, and their dishes were in the sink. Quickly he shuffled out of his apartment, giving Remy a quick pet as he passed the pup by. He didn't so much as stir from his sleep, but Nate couldn't help but smile at.

As he descended the stairs he spotted her leaning against the wall just outside, where they'd first met. He let the memory come and go with a small smile as he walked up to her. "Ready?"

Aria -
Seren had mostly managed to settle her thoughts at this point, and was looking calm again when he came out. She hadn't dealt with everything... But she would later, when she had time. Right now, she needed to deal with the present.

"Yeah, ready. Lead the way, my friend, for the riches of caffeine in it's tastiest form awaits!" She said that last bit in a silly, false declaiming tone, then winked at him to invite him to laugh at had silliness.

Pao -
He chuckled at the bit of silliness and jabbed his thumb in the general direction of the coffee shop he was gonna take her to. "This way, then," was all he said, then maneuvered himself so he was standing on the outside of the sidewalk before they started for the shop.

It wasn't too far, roughly a five minute walk from the apartment. Once there he got the door for her and stepped inside after her. It was a mom and shop type place, so it was on the smaller side, decorate to feel cozy and comfortable. There were tables scattered about, and in one corner there was a sofa and a cluster of giant gumdrop looking chairs.

"Their teas are pretty good here, too, in case you felt like tea instead," he said headed for the register. He offered the girl behind the counter a cursory nod in greeting, though his expression was less smiling and more...just simply polite.

Aria -
"Alright!" She followed him both trustingly and willingly, so it was a good thing he wasn't taking her somewhere horrible. She did find it kind of adorable that he put her on the inside... Protecting her. It was a little strange, for her, to have someone being protective like that, but it warmed her to her core.

So did the way he held the door for her, honestly. He was really making her think about those thoughts from earlier, though she managed to keep what was going on inside her head off of her face. Her expression was one of simple curiosity and excitement.

"Tea is lovely but I think I'll try a coffee.. they're what got you into this place, after all. Do you have any specific recommendation?" She did note, with hidden interest, the way he acted towards the other woman. That was interesting to note, she thought.

Pao -
He glanced over at her, lips curled up in a small, amused smile. Though it faltered when she asked for a recommendation. "Uh, I usually take mine black so that's not really much of a recommendation. I tried the macchiato once and it was pretty good?" He turned back to the girl then, polite expression returning as he gave his order, then asked if she could wait a bit for Seren to decide.

"Mm, a mocha latte's also usually a safe bet, or just a regular latte," he went on, casually glancing between her and the menu.

Aria -
She smiled back, then chuckled at his comments. "Well, black coffee definitely isn't for me... Without milk in it, it upsets my tummy." She tilted her head, considering his suggestions, before giving a decisive nod. "Alright, thank you!" She turned to the girl at that. "One macchiato, non-fat milk please!"

Once she had ordered, she stepped back, but gave Nate another bright smile, controlling the urge to think how sweet this was of him.

Pao -
Once Seren put her order in Nate quickly paid for their drinks, then nodded toward the end of the front counter, above which hung a sign that read "PICK UP HERE" in giant letters. "Usually only takes a few minutes, then we can get going for real. You still okay to move all that furniture once we get to your new place?"

It felt like a stupid question; it wasn't like they had much of a choice. He wasn't Superman and certainly couldn't move the big pieces on his own, so she would have to. But it felt right to ask, so he did. And then he shoved his hands in his pockets and glanced around the shop, partly taking in the new decor for the new season and mostly avoiding her gaze. In case she thought it was a stupid question, too.

Aria -
She followed him over to the pick up bar, and leaned against the wall to wait, watching him quietly as he spoke. "Sounds good. Glad they're quick, the slow shops tend to annoy me, honestly."

The second question did not sound stupid to her. It sounded like someone who cared about her making sure she would be ok. "Yeah, I'll be fine. I can do this, Nate. Thank you for asking." Her tone was soft, and she had a pleased smile on her face, her blue eyes focused on him.

Pao -
"Cool," was all he could think to say for the moment, though when he caught the look on her face he couldn't help but give her that usual small smile in return. Maybe she hadn't thought it was stupid, he thought, which made him feel a little better about asking. Still, he stood there quietly until their drinks came, and he again nodded and gave the girl a polite "thank you" before grabbing their drinks, offering Seren hers once he had them.

He took a sip of his coffee and gave a content sigh, then looked over at her. "Good?" he asked as he led her back to the front doors. Again he opened it for her, then stood aside and waited as she stepped out. "If not you can always order again."

Aria -
She found herself wondering what it would take to get more then a small smile out of him, suddenly. It was so she'd really seen, and given that he didn't seem to do that too often, it meant a lot to her... But she wanted to earn a bigger smile, maybe from amusement but bigger. She set that aside, though, under the idea that she didn't yet know how to do so, and just dealt with the here and now.

She accepted her coffee and followed him to the door, sipping carefully to avoid a chance at getting burned. "Mmm!" Was her initial response, her mouth full. When she swallowed, she spoke for real, unaware she had a bit of foam on her upper lip. "It's delicious! Thank you, this is perfect."

Pao -
He sipped his own coffee while she answered his question, and her response lit his face up in a small but bright smile. "No problem. Glad you like it," he said, taking note of the foam on her upper lip. He contemplated for a moment as they walked, thinking that she'd realize it at some point and would take care of it on her own. They walked a few paces away from the shop and he tried to let it go, just sticking to sipping his own coffee as they went.

"So how far is the drive again? It's just past rush hour right now so, what, like an hour?" he asked, squinting a little as he thought about it more carefully. Occasionally he would glance over at her to see if she got to that foam yet, eyes now and again training on her lips.

Aria -
It wasn't huge, but it was bright, and that counted as a definite positive in her books. She smiled happily back, still unaware of the foam... It was so light that it didn't feel much heavier then the chapstick she regularly wore, and thus it didn't attract her attention. She simply walked with him, sipping her drunk and enjoying this little side trip with her friend.

"An hour? Naw! I mean, I'm still in town. It's like 45 minutes by bus, because it meanders, and maybe an hour on foot. I'm not sure how far it is when driving directly, since I've never done that. Google will be our friend there." She blinked at him, wondering what made his eyes keep dipping down just a little. It wasn't like he was ogling, that would be way more obvious, so she was confused as heck.

Pao -
They were stopped at a crosswalk as she answered him, and he nodded along while still eyeing that foam on her upper lip. It was cute, in a way, and amusing to see but he couldn't keep letting her walk around with it just there. So while they were stopped he turned slightly to her, eyes again trained on her lips as he casually leaned over to finally wipe the foam away.

"Sounds like..." he went on to say as he straightened himself out, now looking straight at sign that still said Do Not Walk. He took a sip of his coffee then, as though his mouth had gone dry from the gesture. "Maybe a twenty minute drive? Definitely gonna Google, though, to be safe. Would suck to get lost and all."

Aria -
When they stopped at the crosswalk, she had been about to pull her phone out and use Google... But she was stopped by the way he reached over and... Wiped something off of her lips. Her eyes went wide and her cheeks flushed, but she assumed there was a good reason for it... Nonetheless, she would have expected him to say something, instead of doing it herself.

There was a moment of silence as her brain over-loaded, trying to decide how to react to that. Finally, she said "Ah... Thank you. Did I have something on my lip?" In a slightly breathless voice, her eyes fixed on his face, trying to figure out what was going on in his head. "And yeah. I'll get the directions once we get to the truck..."

Pao -
"Yeah, bit of foam," he said after clearing his throat. For a second he wondered what possessed him to do something about the foam on his own rather than telling her about it. Probably the same thing that made him ask her for a few more minutes to nap on the sofa even while they were cuddled up. The light finally said Walk so he quickly said, "C'mon," and started walking.

He took only a couple of steps before he turned to make sure she was walking with him, and when he saw that she was he crossed the street with her while silently sipping his coffee.

Aria -
"Oh! I didn't even feel it, thank you..!" She was still a touch breathless, and her cheeks were a vibrant pink, even while crossing the street... Because thoughts she hadn't been even considering were now flooding through her mind. A sweet, kind and extremely handsome man had... Snuggled with her on the couch, then got foam off of her lip. One she trusted.

Did she dare say something? Not yet, at least. She wasn't at all sure what to say, for one thing, and for another, she could be totally misreading him somehow. So instead, once they were back on the sidewalk, she got her phone out and popped open Maps.

Pao -
He slipped his free hand into his pocket as they walked the last stretch to the car, and when she thanked him again he shot her a smile. "Anytime." The pink on her cheeks was unmistakable, and it made him smile just that much wider. Not that he said anything, though the word "cute" certainly came to mind.

While she pulled her phone out he took to just guiding and generally making sure she didn't run into anything, so their pace slowed down a little bit. Which he didn't mind one bit. "So?" he asked once they finally reached the car. "Twenty minutes? Less?"

Aria -
She caught the smile, and the way it widened. She didn't know the cause, but once again it made her feel good, so that was what mattered. "I'll return the favor, then, should the chance arise." She said, quietly, before brushing a lock of her hair that had come a bit loose back, off of her eyes, so she could see better.

Once she had the address entered into her phone, she hit the 'find button' at the car, to make sure that it gave her the proper estimate and all. "Hmmm yeah, looks like about twenty minutes, give or take... And assuming no surprise traffic." She turned her phone to show it to him, totally un-self conscious about him seeing anything on her screen.

Pao -
Return the favor? He huffed, amused at the idea but finding that he didn't mind if she ever did get a chance to return the favor. He leaned against the truck and waited patiently for her to answer his question, and without realizing it his eyes had settled on her and several thoughts ran through his mind. Most were about how bummed he was that was moving, but there were a few in there that surprised him. That he'd keep to him and his now slightly pink cheeks.

When she showed him her phone he snapped out of his own thoughts and nodded a bit dumbly. "Cool. Hopefully no surprise traffic either, then. You ready?"

Aria -
She blinked, realizing that he had, for a moment, a hint of pink to his cheeks, and she wondered what was going on. She found herself looking down, wondering if she had somehow exposed herself or something... But she couldn't see anything about her outfit to have him blushing at all. It confused her, but she decided to leave it be for the moment, though she did take a small mental photo, cause he looked adorable like that.

"Yeah, totally. Weshould miss the next round of traffic, too, if we leave now." She went over to her side of the car, and waited for him to unlock it, since he had the keys.

Pao -
At her OK he gave a nod and went to the driver's side before unlocking the truck and climbing in. He took one last sip of his coffee before setting it down and starting the car, then once they were both settled he pulled them onto the road and into Destiny City traffic.

"So howcome you never got a license?" he asked as he pulled the truck to a stop at a red light. He grabbed his coffee cup and took a lingering glance at Seren, in the passenger's seat. "Just never wanted to or is there more of a story there?"

Aria -
She swung up into her seat and settled in, getting her belt latched and popping her cup in one of the holders. She found it an interesting view... She had never been in a truck before. When the movers had handled her stuff, she had ridden the train down to Destiny City, and met them at the apartment. It was rather high up, and she found herself glad to be inside the truck... She found being higher up easier to deal with when inside things, like tall buildings.

She blinked at his question, her fingers tightening on her thigh in surprise as he asked her something that was... complicated to talk about, really. "Ah..." She sighed softly, considering how to handle this, before she gave a slow nod. "Kinda. Part of it is my..." Another hesitation, as if she did not want to say the next word, then she continued. "My parents did not want the responsibility if something happened." She closed her eyes, soothing herself, as she continued. "Another is no real opportunities. I didn't really know anyone with a license."

Pao -
It was easy to spot. The sudden tension, the quiet in her voice. The way she hesitated. He hit a nerve without realizing it, so he took a sip of his coffee and listened first, nodding along as she spoke. When it seemed she was finished he set his cup down, simply saying, "Gotcha," while he thought of how to smooth this out. Everyone had a story they didn't want to tell, he knew that better than most.

"Sorry," he finally went on to say, and rather softly at that. "You don't have to answer my questions if something about the answer makes you uncomfortable, Seren. It won't bother me if you don't wanna talk about certain things." He paused then, eyes straight forward. Hard. Distant, if only for a moment. "I'd get it. Believe me."

Aria -
She opened her eyes during the silence after his gotcha, watching him out of the corner of her eyes, unable to help the nervousness that was overtaking her in this moment. She trusted him, a lot, but right now... He seemed distant for a moment, and she did not know if she had somehow angered him, or if he was just processing, or... well, she had no idea.

She blinked at his sorry, and turned fully to watch him as he spoke, blinking thoughtfully... And she in no way missed that hard, distant look. She bit her lip, then said softly "If I was going to talk to someone about it, you would be the most likely person. I trust you, and I don't say that very often, Nate." Especially not to men, but she did not verbalize that, as it might give the entirely wrong impression.

Pao -
He pulled up to another stop light and glanced her way, giving her a weak smile. "Still, I didn't mean to just randomly dredge anything back up. So...like I said, if you don't wanna talk about it just lemme know?"

Unsure of what else he could say on the matter the brunette decided to go back to his coffee, mulling over his thoughts and pushing down any of the ones from his own past that were currently floating to the surface. Not to mention it wasn't everyday that someone straight out told him that they trusted him. At least not with something so personal. It wasn't hard to process so much as hard to think of how he could possibly reciprocate.

"We almost there yet?" he asked suddenly, just wanting to change the direction of the conversation and of his own personal thoughts. "Feels like we've been driving for a while."

Aria -
She gave him an equally weak smile, since she was still kinda pulling herself out of her own head. It hadn't been too much, to be fair, but she hadn't been expecting his question, and it had thrown her. "I know you didn't. It was an accident. I get that. And I will if it comes up in the future."

She sipped her coffee, using the warmth and the actions to fully soothe herself, getting lost in the simplicity of something repetitive.

When he spoke, she blinked and glanced at her phone. "Looks like one more turn, then a couple minutes down the road to the house. We're pretty close."

Pao -
"Cool," he replied, happy to keep the subject on their task at hand. He kept driving until Maps led them to a specific street, and soon enough they were parked in front of wherever Google led them. "This it?" he asked, leaning a little forward to take a look at the row of houses on the street.

"Definitely nicer than your last place." At that he chuckled and looked over at Seren, his usual small smile returning. "Do you have to check in with anyone before we start moving everything or are we good to go?"

Aria -
"Yeah, this is the place." It was nicer, even, then her parents' home, and that had been an expensive place where she was from. She gazed up at the building for a long moment, just taking in her home's appearance once more before she lived in it.

She glanced at him and chuckled. "Yeah. It's a nice place. And nope! I have keys, so we should be good to go." She smiled brightly at him, and hopped out. "I'll go unlock the doors we need, you open the truck perhaps?"

Pao -
"Works for me," he replied as he hopped out as well. He moved to the back of the truck and opened it, then hopped up to start scooting things closer to the door so they could move everything quick and easier. He waited patiently for Seren to get back, seated on the edge of the truck so his legs were dangling.

Aria -
She darted off to go get things ready, then returned to begin the process. It took another hour and a half to get everything in... Less stairs, but all up this time... And soon they had it all into her new room. She was actually amazed that all of her furniture fit, without crowding. "This... Is a big room."

She sounded astounded at the idea that she would get a room that big, honestly.

Pao -
"And it's all yours," said the brunette as he moved to stand beside her. He looked and felt a little tired but he was really happy to have helped Seren out. All that was left now was to get the truck and go home. "All this for cheaper than your rent now...damn," he murmured, smiling. "Lucky. I'm happy for you, I really am."

Aria -
She nodded, still looking amazed, though she said "Why don't you relax on the couch, take a breather? There's still water and all in the cooler, if you need them." Her hand came up to brush his shoulder in an affectionate, friendly gesture, before she grabbed the cooler and put it on the table in front of the couch. "And you're welcome to come hang out here."

Pao -
He gave a little smile when her hand brushed his shoulder and considered the offer for a second before nodding and heading for the couch. He flopped down and, once the cooler was on the table, reached over to get some water. "You know what my schedule's like," he said after taking a drink. "But thanks for offering."

He pat the spot beside him and then looked at Seren. "You should take a load off, too. Other than making your bed I vote you just get some sleep tonight. Unpack tomorrow?"

Aria -
She considered him for a moment, and then nodded. "I mean, yeah, but when you have time, you still can do so, Nate. When you have free time, you know?"

She considered his pat, then nodded and shifted over tot he couch to flop besides him, not caring if her hip bumped his, given earlier, and settled back. She grabbed her own water, and her cupcake. "That all sounds like an excellent plan. And then I'll go meet everyone after unpacking. I'll feel more comfortable once I'm settled in, you know? Have a place I can call my own to retreat.”

Pao -
"I can always text, I guess," he replied, not at all minding that she'd brushed against him. In fact his body subconsciously leaning a little toward her once she was seated. "Days off are still pretty few and far between, but I can text, if ever." He took another drink of water and then set his bottle down.

"That makes sense. Wouldn't wanna keep coming home to boxes still all packed up. Shouldn't take too long to unpack, right? Few hours, maybe."

Aria -
"Yeah, you can always text, as I said earlier. I love living in the age of texting, it makes keeping in contact with friends so much easier." She sipped her water, leaning gently towards his warmth without realizing it. It just felt comfortable and safe, being close to Nate.

"Mmm yeah. I'll have to unpack sheets, of course, and clothes for tomorrow, but other then that, everything can wait until tomorrow." She nibbled her cupcake, and smiled happily at him. "It just makes me less stressed to have everything in its proper places."

Pao -
He nodded a bit at the idea of texting. It did make a lot of things more convenient, but as per usual he didn't do a whole lot of texting other people unless it had something to do with his work. Nate glanced over at her for a moment and only then noticed how close they were, but it was a comfortable closeness and he didn't mind it. In fact, he found he actually kind of liked it so he just left it alone and glanced around the space.

"Organized, yeah. I mean a clean personal space is important, so I get that." Soon enough his eyes had finished circling the room and landed on her again, and he smiled a little. "Is everything where you want it to be, though? Like all your furniture and stuff?

Aria -
She hoped he would text her. Seren liked the idea of a friend who would text her at random times, about random stuff. It made her feel closer to him or something, if that did happen. Like having someone who was always there for her, even if they weren't right there at her side.

Which, at the moment, he was, and she liked it. She liked it a lot, to be honest.

"Yeah, I... kinda need my stuff organized, honestly. If certain things aren't, it can sometimes make me antsy. I don't like not knowing where my things are when I need them." She looked up at him, unwittingly licking some chocolate from her cupcake off her lips as she did. "Yeah! And I am thinking of getting a large pair of drapes, and some wire... To divide up the 'bedroom' area from the 'sitting room/desk' area."

Pao -
He smiled a little wider, a little brighter at how similar they were in a lot of ways. Organization kept him sane, too, a coping mechanism of sorts to help him if he ever needed a distraction from his own mind. And then he blinked at the way she licked her lips, a very brief thought zipping through his mind. More a question, really, since her lips looked so very...

"Uh," he cut the train of thought off and again took a awkward glance around the room again. "Or one of those bookshelves? Either way, lemme know if you need help. I'd be happy to."

Aria -
She was watching him, eyes full of innocence but also caring for him, unaware he was considering her lips and how she had licked them. His suggestion of a bookshelf had her looking thoughtful. "Oooo a bookshelf... I could get two of them, actually, place one on each wall..." She gestured at the walls, and where there was space between two windows on one side, and the matching space on the other.

"And then hang the wire between them, so that I don't have to worry about holes in the actual wall. What do you think?" She gave him a bright, eager smile for the suggestion.

Pao -
The innocent look he saw on her face once he was able to look at her without focusing on just her lips made him feel even more like an a**, but at least the conversation was a good distraction. He can worry about whatever was going on with him later. "Mm," he mused as he once again looked over the room and tried to picture her suggestion.

"I could see that. Would give the room a little more character, too, since you get to pick whatever design on the curtain. Sounds like a good idea." He gave her a smile and a nod of approval before reaching for his water, the shifting on the couch causing his leg to brush against hers again. "And then you're desk and couch'll be out here. What about your TV?"

Aria -
Seren leaned back, picturing it, and then, when his leg brushed hers, had a moment that made her flush, the innocence fading from her eyes as she imagined something else that she had not expected for a moment. She bit her lip, trying not to think about it more, because she did not think she should be thinking these things right now.

She used his words to refocus on him. "Yeah, I like the idea of having a nice curtain, in maybe a deep blue, or even starry patterned, as a way to keep that area 'private', and this area as a place I can have visitors." She blinked at the comment of a TV, though. "I... still don't have a TV."

Pao -
He noticed the flush in her cheeks and wondered what it was about. Given the close proximity he could probably hazard a guess, but...what that meant he wasn't sure he was ready to find out yet. Not that it stopped him from looking at her in a slightly different light. In a slightly different way, even.

"Starry, that's pretty fitting," he started to say, then blinked about the TV as well. Thinking back he realized they didn't bring down a TV, and his smile faltered. "Sorry. Must have slipped my mind..."

Aria -
She blinked at him for a moment, seeing something change in his face, unsure of what or why. She blinked a little, but finally decided to just give him a small, warm smile, since it was the simplest thing she could do. He seemed comfortable and relaxed, and that was what mattered for the moment.

She smiled a little and added "Next time you come here, it'll look different. I'll have my posters and celestial maps up. You wouldn't have seen those before, they were in my bedroom in the old apartment, and since today was the only time you had ever been in there, you missed that." Her cheeks pinked a little, again, at commenting on him in her bedroom. Which he currently technically was but... That was ok, kind of different because of how the space was set up. "And no worries. Most people do, it's normal to think about it."

Pao -
He could vaguely get a sense of what the space would look like once she got settled in, and it made him look forward to eventually seeing it in the future. Given his upcoming schedule it wouldn't be anytime soon, but he still held onto a little hope that it would happen. He noticed the pink on her cheeks again, and again had no idea why but his curiosity was starting to get the better of him.

He shifted on the couch again, this time so he was facing her. "So are you kinda sick or something? You've been kinda flushing now and again since earlier."

Aria -
She smiled a little, initially, though she looked confused about being asked if she was sick... And then the second question had her flush BRIGHT red, practically enough to light up the room. She choked in surprise, not having expected him to ask her that, and floundered, trying to figure out what the hell to do or say.

Finally, she calmed herself, and took a sip of water, before replying, her eyes darting around nervously. "N...no. I'm not sick, promise. Just... Odd thoughts popping up into my head, that's all." Her tone was a little high, and she had trouble looking right at him. "Really, I'm fine!"

Pao -
The reaction wasn't what he expected, though despite it all he found her current nervousness and bright red cheeks awfully cute. Adorable, even. And even though she said she wasn't sick he still reached over to feel her forehead with the back of his hand. "Odd thoughts?" he asked as he pulled his hand away.

He wondered for a moment if they were anything like the odd thoughts he'd been having, but he didn't ask. Instead he furrowed his brows as he met her eyes for a few seconds, and then nodded. "You sure you're okay? Should we maybe order some soup or something just in case?"

Aria -
When his hand was suddenly on her forehead, she stilled completely, eyes wide and if she wasn't already blushing, she would have flushed intensely. The only heat he would feel would be a consistent amount with her blush, nothing that indicated a fever. "Uh. Uhhhm."

She bit her lip hard again, trying to work out how to reply to this and finally she said "Yes, odd thoughts... triggered by... various things like. Um." She paused, then looked at the floor, whispering JUST loud enough for him to hear her. "Like when you brushed the foam off my lip..."

Pao -
She didn't quite warm enough to be having a fever, but his hand stayed put for a little bit longer. He waited expectantly for a response, though what came out of her mouth next had him smiling, big and bright. "Is that a 'yes' or a 'no' Seren?" he started to ask, but then quieted again as she went on to explain a little more.

He made an 'o' with his mouth when she finished, and slowly pulled his hand back. "Gotcha. Um..." he started to say, his smile from earlier now a lopsided line. "Look, if that made you uncomfortable, I'm really sorry. I just...well, I don't know. It felt like I should...or maybe I just wanted to. I dunno. Anyway, like I said. If it bothered you, I'm sorry..."

Aria -
She blinked at his reaction, confused by his apology. Without thinking, she reached up and caught his hand, as if she was worried he would leave, shaking her head. "No, not what I meant. I just..." She blushed, and looked down, at her lap. "I... I mean, first off... I'm not use to people doing things like that for me..." Her voice was soft, and nervous, and maybe a little sad. "Second... I liked it."

She looked back up, and with a little more determination, she nodded hard. "I did. It... felt sweet. Really sweet. I just... Could not help thinking about why you maybe had done it, did you... have another reason, or did you just do it to take care of it or... what."

Pao -
It was his turn to blink as she elaborated even more, not something he expected her to do. He figured she would have just expected her to accept his apology and leave it at that, but here they were. And she was even holding his hand, which he didn't pull away.

His expression changed a little bit, became a little softer as he gave her hand a squeeze. "Probably a little of both?" he said, recalling the cute picture from just a few hours ago. "Like I said, kinda felt like I should, kinda felt like I wanted to. And the why behind the second one...I couldn't tell you."

Aria -
She watched his expression, nervous but hopeful when he didn't pull his hand away, so she very much caught the way it softened, and the squeeze... kinda made her heart skip a beat. "I won't press you for answers, then. You can tell me if you figure it out, and want to. Otherwise, it is all up to you."

She looked down at their hands, where they were clasped, and gently brushed her thumb against the back of his hand, before looking back up. "I... don't entirely know if I can tell you my own motives for things, at times, too, after all. What I can tell you is... I'm glad I met you, and I'm glad you're here..."

Pao -
He nodded quietly, eyes falling to their joined hands. His lips curled up into a little smile at the sight, and at the feeling of her thumb as she brushed the back of his hand. It made him mot want to let go all the more, so he didn't and instead looked up to watch her again. "Me, too," came his reply to that last statement.

He wasn't sure what they were at this point, not after this particular conversation. Friends toeing some kind of line made the most sense, which made him start to wonder which side of the line they'd eventually fall into. So he reach forward, gently placing a finger under her chin so he could lift her gaze to meet his. When she did he brushed a few loose strands of hair aside for her, his smile brightening. "And I don't say that kinda thing a lot."

Aria -
She smiled, soft and sweet, at the way he lifted her chin again, her blue eyes focusing on his green ones, studying them with quiet happiness. "Then to have you say it to me makes it all the more valuable." She said, voice still quiet, but caring about him. "And honestly... I have never felt the desire to say that to anyone before." She considered him softly, and gave a soft, but happy, sigh.

She shifted, just a little closer to him, wanting to feel the warmth of the man she cared greatly about a little more, then she noticed the time on her phone, and her eyes tightened, because she did not want time interfering with this quiet, happy time.

Pao -
He studied hers in turn, a curious stirring in his own eyes as well. They seemed to be on the same page in this regard, too, which was a curious thing. An amusing thing...a happy thing, as far as he could tell. When she shifted closer he mirrored the motion, except where she stopped he didn't. His hand fell away from her chin as he leaned in closer, enough that he was able to rest his forehead against hers.

"What?" he asked, not sure if this was exactly where this particular moment was headed but there was something about the way she closed her eyes that made him want to be certain. "Something wrong?"

Aria -
Her eyes popped open when his forehead touched hers, and she focused back on him, her smile returning. This was... nothing like anything she had ever experienced before, and it felt cozy and wonderful, to be honest. His question, though, had her sighing softly. "Not really. Just... I saw the time."

She gestured at her phone nearby, but not in a way to suggest that he should move away to look. "And I just wish time could stop for a bit, because I know you... will have to go home, eventually." Her free hand slid up to brush his cheek, softly. "I am enjoying this time with you, far too much to want it to stop."

Pao -
He glanced in the direction that she mentioned but couldn't quite see the phone, so he left it alone. He didn't really want to move away at the moment, enjoying this just as much as her. "Yeah," he started to say, then closed his eyes when she brushed his cheek. "Yeah, I know what you mean."

If things hadn't just gotten to this point between them he might have asked if he could stay the night, but there was such a thing as going too fast. Hell, a part of him was thinking they were already moving faster than normal, so he held his tongue. "I probably should get going, though, if it's late enough that it caught your attention."

Aria -
She had to chuckle, honestly, when he looked, given that his view was blocked, but at the same time, she still did not want to move. This line they had found, and gently, softly, begun to step over was still right there, and part of her worried that tomorrow, when he woke up sore from helping her move and having to work, that he would regret being her friend, let alone more.

People had done similar, before, after all.

But she trusted him, nonetheless, and chose to hold onto the belief that this would not be how it would go, that instead they would start working their way into something more complicated perhaps, but even more wonderful. "Probably, sadly. I know you need to drop the truck off, first, too." She did not pull away though.

Pao -
"Yeah," he started to say, but paused to think on that first. It would be easy enough for him to get home unscathed no matter how late it got, but he wasn't fond of going Nega just to get home faster. So he weighed his options and quickly made his decision. "They're closed already so it doesn't really matter what time I drop it off. I'll wind up skating home either way, so."

Truthfully it was a teensy excuse for him to stay that much longer. It was hard to pull away so he didn't. Instead he smiled and tilted his head just so, his lips finally, but barely brushing hers. "Five more minutes?"

Aria -
"As long as you make it home safely..." She whispered back, glad he didn't quite have to rush at this point. She would worry, though, and probably text him to check, when it was an appropriate time for him to be home, based on when he left. Part of her would be tempted to go Page and ghost him home, to be sure... But she was NOWHERE near good enough yet, and if she did have to fight, it would... probably be a disaster.

She was smiling back, and then, when his lips brushed hers, her eyes fell closed again, and a small shiver crossed her back. It might be just the softest of touches, but... it was wonderful. "Five more minutes." In a slightly teasing tone, she added "You like that phrase."

Pao -
He smiled, not minding her teasing tone of voice, and barely shrugged. "It's popular among people who sometimes don't get enough sleep." He leaned in for real this time, catching her lips in a brief but full kiss. "Like guys who have to pull doubles way too often. Guys like me?"

Aria -
"Fair enough." She sighed, a happy sound, into the quick kiss, controlling the urge to melt against him... It would not be conducive to him getting to leave on time, and it might come across that she was trying for things they were... nowhere near far enough along for. She wanted to take time, take this slow... Build something strong and healthy.

Pao -
His smile was bright as he finally pulled away, not wanting to tempt either of them with anything more. He let her hand go and said, "Glad you understand," while straightening out in the chair. "You're probably gonna hear it a lot from me."

The brunette chuckled as he got comfortable again, and when he did he looked over at her. "C'mere," he said, arm stretched out as in invitation for her to snuggle in. He couldn't stay the night but he still wanted those five more minutes to be in close proximity to her, comfortable and cozied up together.

Aria -
She sighed a little, as he pulled away, understanding the logic and need, but wishing it wasn't necessary. She hadn't felt this comfortable with a man in... Ever, really. Not even with her male ex. Nate really... Had gotten to her, inside, in a very good way. She did laugh, though, at his words, her eyes crinkling at the corners in amusement. "I'll have to get used to them, then."

Her eyes widened a little, and then her bright smile came back, as she shifted to cuddle in against him, letting his warm, strong form make her feel safe, protected, and as cozy as could be.

Pao -
As soon as she was close enough he wrapped his arm around her and sighed rather happily, wondering for a second how long this would last. Whether friends or more, anything outside of work never lasted very long for him. It was a trust issue and more his lack of it than the other person's, so there was a worry that was already starting to settle in the back of his mind.

At least they were happy, though. For now. Which was what mattered most to him. "Don't get too used to 'em or you'll start saying it, too," he joked. "Seriously, co-worker of mine was who got me sayin' it."

Aria -
She found herself enjoying how it felt to be under his arm, and, a little shyly, tilted her head to rest against his shoulder, in the reverse of the position they'd woken from their naps in. It was a nice shoulder, broad and strong, and it felt very cozy to be resting against it. She hoped that they would get to do this often, or as often as their schedules allowed.

She chuckled and gave a half shrug in response. "I'm usually awake pretty fast. Sometimes had to be, so it just became kinda ingrained. But I can get myself to relax and sleep in, too, on those rare occasions I get the chance. At least it's easier, now, than it was when I was younger."

Pao -
When she fully settled against him he sighed again, still just as happy as he was moments earlier. "Mm, funny. Was the same for me when I was a kid. No choice back then, now that I do I take advantage of it as much as I can." At that he closed his eyes, still wide awake but so very tempted to just take another nap.

"So other than unpacking and meeting your roommates what're you planning for tomorrow?" He highly doubted he would get to see her since he was working, so he was curious. He would be on for a few days in a row so he honestly wasn't sure when he'd get to see her next. Which was another reason he didn't want to leave just yet.

Aria -
"Yeah, exactly. A nicety about being an adult, getting to make choices like that for ourselves." She said, in a relaxed and happy way, choosing to focus on good things, rather then the reasons she had to have to be so grateful. She was gazing out at her room, thinking about how right this felt.

"No, nothing... No classes until the following day, thank goodness. I will probably do a little research on bookshelves, so I can find a good with set for not too expensive, though." She had gotten used to the idea that his schedule was unpredictable, so she wasn't going to push, or demand. She just hoped he'd text her when he could.
Pao10/09/2018
He nodded a bit, eyes still closed. "Make sure you spend some time relaxing, too. That's pretty important." He would have loved to offer up some time with Remy but he couldn't, and he wouldn't be home until later, probably. It was starting to irritate him, actually, and he huffed.

"Says the guy that's not gonna get to relax for a few days in a row. I love my job, but I also hate my job."

Aria -
She sighed at his words, because she knew how his life went on that issue, at this point, and wished he had the same chance. "I'll try. You relax as much as you can, ok? And seriously, if you need me to come over and watch Remmy because they're killing you with hours again, I will."

She smiled a little, then, at his second statement. "At least there is some love in there. I honestly kinda hate tutoring most of the time. Too many of my pupils are expecting miracles."

Pao -
He smiled and turned his head slightly to plant a kiss on her hair, grateful for her offer but not wanting to stick her with any extra work until she was at least settled into her new place. "Thanks. I'll try, too. And...I guess? I mean I really love my job. Just the hours make me hate it sometimes."

The hours were what kept him from committing to much of anything outside of his bubble. That and trust issues if other people were involved, but it was mostly the hours.

He chuckled at her comment about her students. "Are kids not as good at studying as they used to be? Or are your students just the lazy kind?"

Aria -
The kiss to her hair made her blush, but smile brightly, because it felt very comfortable, and affectionate. It was something she had never had anyone do to her before, and it made her want to respond by kissing his neck... But that was too close to starting things. "I know, Nate. I just wish you got more time off, you're tired so often."

She wanted to tell him how much she wished she could have more of his time, but she was too shy to say so. Too shy, and too scared of being rebuffed... being hurt again in ways she had been before.

She blinked a little at the chuckle, and then sighed, shaking her head. "Noooo, but a lot of them are just panicky that they'll fail, and under pressure... and expecting me to be able to GUARANTEE that they'll get the grade they need. Or... well." She paused, then glanced at him. She didn't know his passed but he was pretty clearly a athlete type, and she did not want to offend him. "They're... sports scholarship kids who put too much time into the sports side of themselves, and forgot the part where they HAVE to keep up a certain grade point average. I feel bad for them, in that situation, but I'm not a miracle worker... And if they have skipped half their classes, and never study, I can't magic the knowledge into them instantly."

Pao -
He gave a little shrug at her comment on his need for more rest. It wasn't something he could help, at least not really, but she definitely wasn't wrong. So again he pressed a kiss to her hair and left it there. Maybe at some point he could take a much needed vacation, but for now he was stuck.

They were stuck, in a sense, with having to work around his hours. Which he hoped she would understand.

He closed his eyes as he listened to her explain his troubles with her students, and when she mentioned sports he gave an amused huff. "Sounds like a lot of my old teammates," he commented once she was finished. "The rest of us got our asses kicked in class and on the field, but that's high school for ya. Not sure what it would've been like in college."

Aria -
Seren sighed in a comfortable way at the second little kiss. It just felt so comfortable, and so wonderful, to have someone here like this. She wouldn't press him more on this, at this point, because they both had to live with the world as it was. That she had found someone like Nate was enough.

She would be grateful with the time he could give her, because she would be grateful for the good things in her life. She refused to let the bad things weigh her down, ever again.

She laughed softly, then sighed a little. "I think the pressure is worse, because a sports scholarship kid can lose their scholarship if they don't keep up their grades. And it's not like the old days, where they'll pressure teachers to give passing-high-enough grades to the good players, mostly, because there's too many chances they'll get caught... And well. Scandal."

Pao -
"I can see that. Kids that don't think any further than college are gonna have a lot bigger problems. You just do what you can, y'know? As their tutor, l mean." And it was true enough. He didn't have the luxury of going to college right out of high school. He had to work, and he had to work hard for that chance. Scholarship kids...he respected to a degree, but there were too many like the kids Seren was describing.

Despite himself he glanced at his watch and sighed deeply. He didn't want to go just yet, but it was getting pretty late. "Has it been 5 minutes?" he asked quietly, somewhat slowly, obviously hesitant to ask. "Feel free to say 'no'."

Aria -
"Yeah, I know. I do. And I encourage them the best I can, too, because I do want them to succeed... Both because it's better for them, and because it shows I am a good tutor, which keeps people hiring me." She was a scholarship girl, herself, and knew the stresses of making sure she did what was necessary to keep it up... But she had worked ******** hard to get here, and kept working ******** hard to stay here.

She sighed too, and glanced at the time... And then his last few words made her chuckle softly. "Mmmm I think we have another minute or two, if you want." Giving him the chance to decide he needed to go, in case he felt it would be better, with his schedule, but also allowing him the room to stay for a little more.

Pao -
Though he'd only known her for so long it was easily to tell that she worked hard for all the things that she had, and he doubted school would be any kind of exception. So it made a lot of sense that she did the best that she could do with her tutoring job, whether or not her clientele were the nice to work with or not.

Her response to his question had him chuckling a bit as well. If it were up to him he'd stay for a lot longer than another one or two minutes, but since they both likely had a long day ahead of them he finally sighed and said, "Should probably call it a night. Lots to do tomorrow and all." And he shifted from his spot and got to his feet, stretching some before offering her a hand up.

"We can meet up another time. A few days at least, hopefully less. That work for you?"

Aria -
She smiled at the chuckling, then sighed as well, because what he said was fair... But she really didn't want him to leave. She suspected she would have a less peaceful night tonight then she might have, now, missing the warmth and feeling of safety she had just discovered. She didn't argue, however, or try to stall him.

She was too used to having to accept reality as it was, whether she liked it or not, to do that.

Instead, she accepted his hand, and stood, before nodding. "Sounds like an excellent plan. I'll be looking forwards to it. Might help me on days when my students are being dumb... 'stay calm, you don't want to end up in jail for attempting to some this idiot's books up their nasal passage. You're meeting up with Nate in a few days.'" She said that last bit in a goofy tone, and winked at him.

Pao -
He laughed lightly at the picture of her shoving a book up some poor college kid's nose as he led the way to the door. "Yeah, probably a good idea to hold off on that kinda thing, even if it get pretty tempting. It'd be easier to hang out if there isn't a huge piece of glass and a bunch of guards watching our every move."

He laughed again as they went and soon enough they were at the front door, which he opened and stepped through before turning around. "Get some sleep. I'll text or call when I can, okay?"

Aria -
She smiled, pleased to get the laugh out of him. "That's kinda what I was thinking, yeah. So I'll be good. Besides, I don't want to give you the extra work that might come from having to take that idiot kid to, say, a hospital to get the book extracted."

She watched him step through the door, and sighed, just a little, but mostly controlled herself, hiding how much she wished he did not have to go. Instead, she nodded. "Yeah, that sounds good. You get some sleep, too, and give Remy a few rubs for me, ok?" She leaned up, and softly pressed a kiss to his cheek.

Pao -
"Will do," he said, then briefly closed his eyes when she kissed his cheek. He thought about it for a moment before he leaned down to kiss her, soft but lingering for a bit longer than earlier before he finally pulled away.

He smiled then, and took a few step back. "Night," he said as he took a few more steps back, taking a quick mental picture of her before he finally turned around and headed for the truck.

Aria -
She closed her own eyes when he kissed her, and controlled the urge to pull him back to her side. Instead, she whispered "Night..." To him, and watched him go, eyes soft with how good this day had made her feel. She only shut the door once he was out of sight.
